  1. FL 10000? Ohh yes please. I'll wave to Felix on the way down.
  2. What about coating a Vigil 2 with it...
  3. In the uk the Manchester tunnel is about an hours drive from the nearest dz.
  4. I think you need to post that in the "Got Rigging Innovations?" thread.
  5. I have to ask fellow Wings owners their opinions of these options. Which do you prefer. I can't decide. This: [inline wings2_1.jpg] Or this: [inline wings3_3jpg.jpg]
  6. I've got the magnums. They're a bit bigger than the wraptors. They work well. I can't help thinking of this though
  7. I couldn't agree more. More happy stuff please.
  8. It might require the study group to work out a problem and measures the duration taken to solve the problem. Of course that requires the person getting the answer correct. One would hope that another study would have been done to establish if there was a correlation between this test and actual intelligence levels.
  9. Hi mate. I know Tom. He's a regular jumper. It's not an alias for everyone else. I think he was alluding to the same statement made by excaza a few posts up. It is rare that skydiving gets the academic treatment so I thought I'd post the abstract and it makes interesting reading. By all meas criticize the paper because that's how science works but I suggest you read the paper first.
  10. Someone's got to get the saliva from the jumpers before exit. It's be pretty hard to be allowed to do this unless you actually a licenced parachutist. I'd hate to see the cortisol levels of the person collecting the samples if they weren't collecting swabs from a plane on run in Anyway... what's wrong with Peterlee?
  11. I don't have a copy of the paper but I think the experience levels of the 'experienced' set would include those with a lot of jumps as well as those without. I'll see if I can get hold of it (though I know it's copyrighted but the rules for funded research have changed to relax availability) for a good ol' peer review by the DZ.commers
  12. I thought this was interesting. Also here Oli Hare, one of the research team, is a jumper at our DZ, Peterlee.
  13. My flexvisions are 10 years old, have done about 9 hours tunnel and hundreds of jumps and still going strong. Maybe tightening yous might help. :-)
  14. Flexvision goggles. $10 a go. Can't go wrong :-)
  15. Your rigger will hate you forever for packing tight reserve into a wings. Try the PD optimum as others suggest. The paratec speed 2000 is also a low bulk reserve so that's another option but I don't know how many are sold in the US.
  16. Awww.. That's awesome. She'll love it to bits. :-)
  17. Can't go too far wrong. :-)
  18. Regular fit would be okay IMHO.
  19. I've got the sonic tunnel suit. Some things you need to know: It's cordura which means it's got a lot of drag. Good if you're a big guy. Good for doing head down stuff without the tunnel being topped out. If you're light and you want to catch up with others then maybe not so much. The other thing about the suit being cordura is that it is quite warm. Okay for the UK which is normally freezing cold but maybe not so much for Germany in the summer. I went for the double material on the legs option which adds an additional polycotton layer under the leg. This makes it stiffer and gives you more drive. I also added an inside pocket for my phone. It's perfectly fine as a skydiving suit. Wash it a couple of times though before you take it into the tunnel as it's a bit uncomfy when new. Give Carole a call. Each suit is custom so if there's anything you need specifically then she can accomodate your needs. The regular, baggy and tight fit are really only changes in the dimensions in the arms and legs. The body fit is snug. I went for a regular fit so I can put thermals under it in winter. The tight suit is tight. I also use it for RW but I'm not really into RW and I don't find it a problem. I hope this helps Thanks Adam. P.S. Edited to add: Don't go for the double material option for your arms!!!
  20. You might surprise yourself
  21. Do you jump at Aerograd Kolomna? Been there. Jump tickets were amazingly cheap when I went but I think it's got more expensive now. Jumping the Mi-8 was great fun.
  22. Whilst I agree to an extent I burnt a lot of money on time that I could have not wasted by spending it getting coached. Yes it costs a lot but spending it wisely to get the best out of it and progressing quickly is the aim of the game.
  23. I realised that what I wrote could have been ambiguous. Just for clarification I did about 7 hours tunnel learning back, sit, etc. The last hour and a half (now 2 hours so I am up to 9 hours total now) on my head. I found head down particularly tough to learn. Yeah-if someone could learn head down in an hour and a half with no tunnel experience then they would be a phenomenon!
  24. It took me 95 minutes to get stable in daffy. An hour is usually the minimum. I've had 8.5 hours total now. Good luck!
