Get a mutt. Another thing to consider with Pit Bulls is some insurance companies will not write a homeowners policy if you own one. There is a reason behind that.

Go to your local shelter and look around. I've always found mutts to be better pets. A herding dog cooped up in a crate for 9 hours a day will go nuts so thats good advice to avoid them.
