Did you happen to be at Quincy in.....I think '94? When the guys were jumping off the roof of the RV on that bad, bad overcast day? There's the line of folks holding out their arms for these brave men to jump into.....they did great for a while, then one guy went to the hospital when he broke his leg jumping on the hood of this rental car.....then another guy jumped off, tucked up his legs and missed their arms completely......landed on his face on the ground.....2nd trip to this hospital in about 30 minutes......it was frickin' hilarious! I have had the absolutely best day today......yesterday we finished a string of exams, and I have been so unbelievable stressed out. Today, I kept the young'un home from school..... we slept in then he watched cartoons while I played some computer games and popped in and out of here. THEN I took pictures of his snaggle tooth self. (Tooth Fairy came to our house night before last). We went to Riverfront Park. I ate barbeque and got him a piece of pizza. Then he checked out the farmer's market and bought a peach and a cantaloupe. The peach was great. We went to a big ol' play thingy.....it's just a bunch of different level decks with ladders and slides and poles between the decks.....hard to explain.....but we played Peter Pan.......Gators (floating restaurant) across the River was Captain Hook's ship.....we beat the crap out of him..... Picked up the pictures.....he's such a little hippie child....had on one of his tie dyes, because that's all he'll wear, and his hair's getting long because he wants to "let it grow".....last haircut was in December. When we got home, his roller skate shoes that we ordered a month ago came in, so he learned to roller skate. AND I bought new underwear and some bath salts. Ahhhhhh. I know I've been yackin' a lot about school, and I know it gets old, but it has loomed so large lately..... and I have been so stressed out trying to get through school, pay the bills, be a great mom, work..... A Vector 3 (unless RWShop makes something newer between now and then) will be my graduation gift to myself in a few years when I FINALLY get out of school.....that will be 23 years of education.....LIRD! I've always looked for really good deals on good gear, but I've never been able to buy the system that I want. THAT will be it. On top of being able to be confident in the knowledge base that goes into making that rig.....it's a great looking rig too.... You can continually count on RWShop making a superior product. .....and it's not as though we have just learned about stem cells this decade.....this is knowledge we've had as long as we've known about embryological development.... Everything comes from those first few cells.....those are the most undifferentiated we have, but even as adults, we have stem cells.....they're just more differentiated..... That's the big debate, isn't it.....whether there's actually a life there once there's conception. Sure, there's potential for life, but is it actually human life. And why is it, exactly, that we hold human life in such high regard? (I'm not saying I don't....it's just food for thought....) I just wonder what the central issue is. I really believe that it's because we have it innately within us (kind of like a collective unconscious thing) as a means of survival of the species.... Why do we regard human life so highly that many of us are appalled at destroying something (a little bit of tissue, actually) that has the potential for becoming human life, when we put other animals through very torturous existence in order to tender up their carcasses so that they'll taste yummier..... I see a very logical argument in that, myself. I don't know when life begins, but I do know that it's some time before an embryo is capable of suffering...... There was an Aggie that was down on his luck. In order to raise some money he decided to kidnap a kid and hold him for ransom. He went to the playground, grabbed a kid, took him behind a tree and told him, "I've kidnapped you." The Aggie wrote a note saying "I've kidnapped your kid. Tomorrow morning, put $10,000 in a paper bag and put it beneath the pecan tree next to the slide on the north side of the city playground. Signed, An Aggie." What I think of that is that we have some pretty HUGE questions to contend with.....our responses to which will resound LOUDLY for generations. While I, personally, have a big problem with creating embryos for the purpose of using their parts, I'm not willing to impose my belief in this area, no matter how strong it may be, on the rest of society.... I value liberty as well, and I am not so presumptuous to think that my values are more valid than the person next to me who disagrees with what I think.... All the prospective students gather in the lecture hall and begin the exam. First Question: Old Mac Donald had a ________. Student leans over to his buddy....."Pssst.
