  1. Just out of idle curiosity - what has 'the military' done exactly to enable you to go fishing? Who have they defended you against?
  2. I was introduced to "The Settlers Of Catan" some months ago, and I am absolutely hooked! We have acquired several of the extensions and have a weekly session of Catan. It has a very clever mix of strategy and luck, and no two games are ever the same. We play 4 and 6 player games, and they work very well. (On the downside, the two-player version of the game is really cumbersome.) Down here the game is also very expensive to buy, but it will entertain us for years to come.
  3. ***Apparently he's been identified, but I wonder if posting about DB is still a criminal offense? Not a crime, but certainly a PITA.
  4. I feel like he will become a skydive legend. Like DB Cooper or fictional Truman Sparks or Bohdi, his name will be a bonfire staple, enough that people will remember. It only takes one person to post "Hey remember that guy, his release date just passed, wonder where he is" and refresh everyone's memory. Agreed. Anybody who was around at the time knows the name Stephen Hilder, and I have no doubt his name pops up likewise from time to time.
  5. Very few people would against stiff penalties for drunk driving. The question here is about the test, and to impose the heavy penalties you are advocating, the test becomes even more important.
  6. This is how you solve problem:- "Unfriend them" ***"I know some have strong feelings about gun rights, but I want you to know I've hit rock bottom and I am not interested in your views as it pertains to this issue," he said, adding he would "de-friend" anyone who posted anything about "guns aren't the problem" and "there's little we can do."

    The swamp

You just became a bit more vulnerable......
  8. True. But by doing this you're asking people who DO follow the rules and post constructively to alter THEIR behavior to suit people who are a disruption. Don't you see that's the wrong way of approaching it? ... Agreed again. The first option of the poll effectively asks whether trolls should be banned. An 'ignore' option will allow the readers to 'ban' whoever they want to without affecting the rights or integrity of legitimate posters. Trolls are often prolific posters. Being able to just 'ignore' them will be beneficial all round.
  9. I recommend the introduction of an "ignore" option. That way the regular readers of this forum can decide for themselves who the trolls are and avoid having to wade through their incessant drivel.
  10. Draw crowds with entertainment, coffee shops, McDonald's style "play places" for the kids, and messages with weak theology lacking much biblical teaching...but...appeals to the masses because it's what makes them "feel" comfortable and gives them lots of the self-help, self-centered advice most people are looking for with just enough Christianity sprinkled here and there for them to call it a church. But...they do have good coffee! You no doubt see a downside here?
  11. Lovely story. (Quite a small target for the demo, eh? Well done!) PS. I'd like to see this thread moved elsewhere. It is likely to be sullied by the denizens of this forum.
  12. Automated Death Race 2000 ?
  13. I still live on the African continent, and I find the hypocrisy of this thread beyond measure. Do a search for the word "shithole" in this forum.......
  14. I am reminded of "the feather vs the whole chicken" analogy.....
  15. From what I saw, this crash was anything but wreckless......
  16. Indeed. Ignorance and homophobia are often bedfellows.
  17. Took just one reply to turn it on to Trump. Gotta love it. And as usual, no original thought by the poster you quoted - just his usual bunch of cut-&-pastes.
  18. One would hope that a "professional skydive instructor" would recognise "a clapped out 182" and "old tandem gear", don't you think?
