  1. No, parental abuse or Mexican food involved (that I know of)
  2. The answer is: A Crap happy Jappy with a slap happy pappy! And the question is?
  3. Too funny! I think I know who started the foot came off one! I saw someone hand something to the paramedic and then this person walked over to me and told me what he "just saw". Well he was standing right there but I was rather skeptical as I'm pretty damn sure things would be moving a hell of a lot faster if that were the case. I had no burning need to know the story right away or to repeat something I had my doubts about so I had no part in spreading that one! (Whew!)

    Well she's obviously wearing contacts!
  5. One winter about ten years ago I was hanging out with a friend at a cabin that was part if a fly-in fishing/hunting operation 20 minutes north of Pickle Lake. Dan would work on the owner's aircraft in exchange for occasional use of his facilities. Now Pickle Lake is as far north as you can drive on paved road (and I use the term "paved" rather loosely) in Ontario. (Canada) There was no power or plumbing but we had tons of snow for snow-mobiling and lots of booze. Occasionally we'd zoom into town to re-stock, eat a warm meal and to actually work on the plane (it ended up taking us three weeks to do about 18 hours of work) Just as you are about to enter "civilization" (and I use that term very loosely) there is a bridge that goes over a small but growing dip in the ground beneath which an old mine tunnel is slowly collapsing. During one drunken moment of brilliance we came up with an idea. Over the next couple of days we managed to scrounge up some plywood and both black and white paint to make a sign. It read: NO FISHING FROM BRIDGE! I was at Dan's wedding just three weeks ago and the couple who owned the fishing/hunting outfit were there. They told us that the sign had finally bitten the dust last year. It had been standing there all this time! Boy I bet it had a more than a few of those hunters (mostly Americans) wondering what kind of nut-cases lived in that tiny, remote town in the middle of the nowhere!
  6. Kenny and Karen were a huge part of the best time I've ever had at a skydive boogie. We were in San Carlos and they were often the centre of a large group that developed an incredible bond. It's natural to gravitate to fun & attractive people like them and it must be overwhelming but it always seemed like they were enjoying getting to know others as much as others were enjoying getting to know them. And a year or so later, long after the glow of the boogie bond had faded, I was utterly delighted by the warm and clearly genuine greeting they gave me when we met again in Eloy. Karen, I was so thrilled to be part of that incredible night when, a year after he fell for you at that same boogie, Kenny proposed marriage! And everybody was in stitches listening to him describe how he had planned the whole night and how desperately he tried to create even a fraction of the romantic setting he envisioned for the moment the two of you were going to cherish forever but you had gotten sick that last day and were not cooperating! He sure had the miracle cure though because you looked positively radiant telling your side of the story later shortly afterward by the pool! And I have the pictures to prove it! Karen I'm utterly lost trying to express how my heart goes out to you. I'm not sure it's possible for you to imagine the number of lives you've touched and how many incredible memories that the two of you are part of. We are spread all over the globe and our hearts are aching with the knowledge that someone as wonderful as you are has suffered such a loss....I'm so sorry Karen...Please know that so very many of us will be there in spirit as you all gather together to celebrate Kenny's incredibly rich life. Rhonda
  7. I've been sooo busy I almost forgot to check in. And I have a pretty funny story too... If you'll recall last Friday I was most pleasantly surprised to find I had dropped more weight when I was sure I'd be holding for a while. Well, on Monday I hop on the scale and HOLY COW!!!!!!!!! I lost another 3 pounds!!!!!!! I do feel thinner and all but this is insane! I've never lost this fast before and the best part is I've finally broken 170!!!!!!!! But if it seems too good to be true.....it probably is.... Suddenly I knew, even without looking and feeling very foolish that I never thought of it or noticed it: the scale had gone out of adjustment! It was starting at 4lbs under 0! Anyway, gotta run. I'm still down though from...when the scale was correct... 185/173/160
  8. Following through on a drunken "I will if you will" type dare made at the campfire the night before, a guy and a girl doing naked inverted rodeo from a 182 (and it was -15C on the ground at the time!)
  9. Nice work! That's a big one to get past. I should clarify my last post: I'm not really dieting or counting calories, I'm just really trying hard to eat properly have smaller portions and I've ramped up my exercise routine. I haven't gone more than a day without hitting a drive-thru (sometimes twice!) in ages but I haven't gone to a fast food place since this began. I haven't even felt like it! Anyway, I'm 4 pounds away from breaking 170...I've been here before but I have never gotten lower....I haven't weighed less than 170 since I was 11 years old...(Unfortunately I'm not joking either) I'm glad to see so many are back and staying motivated. It started to feel a little lonely here but this week had a great turnout! Way to go people!
  10. Hmmmmm..... Not that I'm complaining but I am surprised....down 2 since last Friday. I'm not dieting, I treat myself every day to a chocolate bar or something so I don't flip out... Damn, too busy to write more Anyway, numbers: 185/173/160
  11. I'm glad you posted the second picture so I knew which one she was in the first picture!
  12. I know the old joke about when you were a teenager you knew everything blah, blah, blah But when I think back to my childhood and early teen years, I do think I was a lot smarter then (compared to my peers) than I am now. Funny..... I'm a lot happier now....... Not sure if the two are related
  13. Wow! Didn't expect to see that this morning! Of course I was so hungover I couldn't eat all day Sunday so it might just be a temporary thing. Down one pound since Friday. 185/174/160 I'm going to skip the last number. Looks like we have lost a few people. Where is everyone? Good job to those of you sticking to it! BTW, I was told once by a personal trainer that by increasing your workout from 3 to 5 times a week it benefits your body 3-fold. In other words, you are not even doubling your routine but it's as if you tripled it!
  14. Yippeee!!!!!!!!!! Just as I predicted (or close enough) I'm at 175! That's 10 lbs since the start but I've lost track of what that is since last check-in...3 I think but that's because I gained two....oh who cares. The net result is good! My prediction for next Friday is that I will hold at 175 while my body adjusts to make it permanent. Come on folks, keep motivated! It's supposed to be 7 degrees C here on Sunday - spring is coming! (edited because my proof reading skills suck)
  15. I remember losing a tooth in a friend's back yard. I was all upset because I couldn't find it in the deep grass and wouldn't have anything to put under the pillow for the Tooth Fairy. Well my friend's mom came out to help us look and all of a sudden she exclaimed "Oh my goodness!! The Tooth Fairy has already been here!" So I ran over to collect my loot and couldn't hide my disappointment. The Tooth Fairy only left me a dime. She always left way more money at my house!
  16. I was learning to fly a helicopter the same time I was learning to skydive. They were incredibly similar in that I knew I was really going to like it once I learned more and got over the fear. They were both thrilling to me but the fear was exhausting!
  17. I don't know why I even bother trying to proof read my stuff. I NEVER catch anything!
  18. YES! I hate that because it makes a HUGE difference in how soft and fluffy they feel, but they don't dry worth crap!
  19. Welcome to the club Christina! I stayed the same over the weekend which is a testament to the calorie burning benefits of dancing! Survived a most fantastic wedding and only went up once to the buffet during Sunday's hangover brunch! So now it's time to bust ass and drop the stuff I gained during my cold last week! Still ahead of the game and haven't lost motivation! I'm going to see that 160 before summer! To those feeling a little discouraged at the slowness or the setbacks, remember: summer is coming whether you lose it fast or slow. If it takes you 5 months to lose 5 pounds then so be it. If you give up, then in 5 months....you won't have lost that 5 pounds! When you wander back over to this thread, you'll see those of us still plugging away and you may be surpised by the numbers and you'll think "geez they did that fast!" It just feels slow at the time. See you all Friday
  20. I've owned a truck since 1988. When I first bought one I was the only girl I knew with one. In fact I only knew 2 guys that owned one! I started with a little Ford Ranger, then went to the Dodge Dakota, then the Ram 2500 and now own a big Ford Diesel 2/4 ton! (I tow a 5th wheel RV) I do find sometimes it leaves an impression of varying sorts, but nothing that's ever affected any relationship of any kind. And they're so damn practical!!
  21. Wow....it takes a hell of a lot of motivation to hit the gym after working all day. I couldn't do it. One solution to the eating late thing is the gym before work? It's something to get used to if you've never done it that way but for some (like me) it's the only way to go. It starts your day off great and no matter what shit might hit the fan during the day, you've at least done something good for yourself first. You've done well though!
  22. Sigh...cough, cough, cough! I knew the scales weren't going to be my friend. Wasn't able to work out at all this week cuz of this frikkin cough!! Almost cut myself some slack and didn't weigh in this morning but you gotta take the bad with the good. Sooooo...... (she says whispering) 185/179/160/+2 And I have a damn wedding to go to this weekend too....But by next Friday, this will be gone plus one!
  23. Watch on Friday for the thread. If you want to see what's been going on so far search "DZ.Com Weight Loss Challenge" then there are some different weeks. It's a bit confusing but you'll figure it out.
  24. Why don't you join the weight loss challenge? We check in on Mondays and/or Fridays. Then we can see if your incentive worked!
