  1. OK, that was (somewhat) funny.
  2. What if the picture was of a Black bear? I think they prefer "Ursus americanus" these days. Or maybe "Ursan-American".
  3. So, one of your instructors has never hysterically yelled "OH MY GOD! .....PULL YOUR CHUTE ROPE!"
  4. First, my "scumbag" comment in my original post was meant as sarcasm. Second, business expenses are deducted before taxes. An investment is not necessarily a "business expense" per se. It can be an investment with new, already-taxed money. So, less taxes on taxed-money = more money to invest for growth, etc. as contrasted with paying the electric bill, buying raw materials, payroll, etc. I think we are actually agreeing.
  5. Another person who did NOT watch the interview but was all too happy to label the congressman as a scumbag. Hey if you have evidence that this congressman is an actually scum bag, please present it and I will be happy to call him a scum bag if he is indeed one. But to remind you of what was said in the interview, the congressman grossed over 6 million dollars from all his LLC businesses. Once expenses were applied, he made a profit of $600k (the interview does not say if this $600k was already taxed or if it was simply taxable income, based on other things he said I assumed it was $600k of taxable income). He then goes on to say he used about $200k to pay for his personal family expenses. The dude paid his taxes. All he is saying is if the government took more taxes from him he would have less money to possibly reinvest in his businesses. I wonder what world some of you are demanding where you question where this man was allowed to spend his money especially when there are a number of Left leaning Dizzy.commers here who themselves own their own personal airplanes and/or own massive boats and own massive trucks to tow their boats. If the guy wants to spend $200k of his own after tax money, what business is it of yours how he spends his money? Man! ....We REALLY need a sarcasm icon!
  6. Thanks! ...But, hey! I didn't set the standard here. Geeez! ...someone needs to publish the rules for SC.
  7. ...not at all like that scumbag Republican businessman who makes a whopping $600K/year after sticking his neck out to create a successful business and a few crummy jobs. http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/ct-met-pensions-gannon-20110922,0,913026.story
  8. It's a subtle difference, but the copywriter is changing the emphasis from the distance the customer would drive his car to the connection the dealership would have with the customer. Also the second one is stronger because it ends "with you," so that's the last connection left in the mind of the reader; "They...with you." Either that or the sign company screwed up his new sign and offered him a nice discount if he'd just accept it like it is.
  9. That can't be right. It's proven fact that there are 2 assholes per 7 people in the population. Don I think that number may be a little low. That's my opinion, anyway.
  10. Just an important safety reminder - According to an AP article in today's paper, NASA advises that if you happen to find a piece of the satellite DO NOT PICK IT UP!! "The space agency says there are no toxic chemicals present, but there could be sharp edges." We don't need anyone getting unnecessarily cut out there!
  11. Well, if the spot was good (and if you were a pretty good flyer) you could end up over an outdoor wind tunnel and stay up until it ran out of gas. You wouldn't even need a parachute!
  12. ... to all free people of planet Earth.
  13. Seems that to many Americans, Leicester = "Li-chest-er". I love that one. Them moaning about other septics getting Worcester wrong is just too funny .. It's W'ster folks not War-cess_ter It's not "Wistershistershire Sauce" either, but I've heard that one down here.
  14. I dunno ...is the fish a salmon or a sammon?. In some parts the country "berry" and "bury" are homophones. In other parts they are not. Why does the Aussie chick on my GPS say "Flo-ree-der" for Florida? (BTW - I don't get the Kansas/Arkansas thing either)
  15. Whoa, whoa, whoa . . . back up . . . we're talking boobies here. Roughly 1/2 the people on the planet care. Yep! ...some actors use their publicity stunt powers for good ...even while pretending it's bad.
  16. Sounds to me like one of those stories actors tell to help hype their movies, but can't be verified. Same thing with the Scarlett Johansson nudie pic story. ...who cares!
  17. Who is saying that!? The "regional war" has been going on since 1948. How hot it gets depends on how far Israel's enemies decide to take it. Israel is probably prepared to respond at whatever level is necessary ...plus a little extra. Same as always.
  18. What else should it look like? I always thought they should look like this.
  19. WOW! Talk about leading with your chin! You should see some of the tweets at attackwatch.
  20. Every President, since Eisenhower, has relied the teleprompter, with the exception of G.W. Bush. Bush used large note cards due to his inability to follow the teleprompter. Ronald Reagan never gave a speech without a teleprompter. It is so inept to imply that Obama is the only President to rely on the teleprompter. He didn't imply that Obama was the only President to rely on a teleprompter. Is there a distinction between "using" a teleprompter and "relying" on one? Which presidents did which and who decides?
  21. Yes, well that changes everything doesn't it? Very easy to research. well give us the results of your research. don't be shy... Just a wild guess, but I think the results of his research are listed in post #13. You can list the results of your research in a reply. (Don't be shy)
  22. That's actually not true. Israel considered Turkey a real ally. It started to change when their Islamist PM decided that he wants to rebuild the Ottoman empire and slowly destroy the secular heritage of Ata Turk (founder of modern Turkey. This guy is dangerous. I'm still waiting for someone to ask why don't the Kurds deserve a state too? Why is it ok for the Turkish air force to bomb Kurd villages, both on the Turkish and Iraqi side. Oh and what about the 1M+ Armenians that the Turks have killed? Not even a word... Yes, I agree with you that Turkey (and Egypt, for that matter) were "officially" allies, and the governments probably really were sincere in those alliances. But the populace (the "street" from where Erdogan comes) answers to a higher authority ...one that is dedicated to the eradication of Israel (and Israeli Jews). Israel certainly knew that the somewhat secular government of Turkey was tenuous at best. The same 6-decades war against Israel continues with tag-team opponents.
  23. I'm surprised that, in yet another Israel-bashing spewage from the UN, there is actually revealed a glimmer of the truth in their motivations. For the sake of expediency it's much easier for the UN bloviators to condemn Israel than it is for them to expect any rationality or concession from Israel's sworn enemies. (These "mediators" have chosen sides, anyway, so who really expected anything else from them?): "Turkey has downgraded ties with Israel over the incident. Richard Falk, U.N. special rapporteur on human rights in the occupied Palestinian territories and one of the five experts who issued Tuesday's statement, said the Palmer report's conclusions were influenced by a desire to salve Turkish-Israeli ties. 'The Palmer report was aimed at political reconciliation between Israel and Turkey. It is unfortunate that in the report politics should trump the law,' he said in the statement." The people of Gaza need to expel foreign-backed militant hate groups before any progress can be made. Also, Israel is not stupid enough to have believed that Egypt or Turkey were ever really "allies". So no great loss there as a result of the "Arab Spring". At least now the true nature of these nations can be seen by all ...not that it matters to their meddling UN lackeys.
  24. I read that as "offenses" and thought "yeah, well I think I remember reading that a couple of their players have already been arrested so far this season... Hey now! If you guys want to play down here in the SEC don't come down here bad-mouthing the teams ...no matter how much they might deserve it! Looks like you'll fit right in!
  25. I have a few relatives and a lot of friends who are UF alumni so, of course, I gotta go with the
