  3. and this guy is a rightwing christian... That, too ...just like Hitler.
  4. I know it's probably not "allowed" but it really was a help to be able to refer back to it here since it did have to be translated. Just more convenient.
  5. You have to read the whole paragraph to get his meaning. Are you saying that he was advocating the formation of a European version of the Tea Party ...that is ideologically similar? (as opposed to my interpretation of the paragraph ...that he was suggesting using the US tea party movement as an organizational model. (not trying to be contentious here ...only looking for clarity.) The more of his stuff I read, the more he sounds like a fascist national socialist ...but a socialist is a socialist. Brand doesn't matter except in the details.
  6. Yea, who would want to live in a country considered by most to have the highest standard of living in the world along with one of the lowest crime rates ? That's probably why you run into so many Norwegian immigrants these days. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/europe/country_profiles/1023276.stm So, tell me ...given the high standard of living and low crime rate, what would motivate him to attack government offices and murder school children in Norway? (He does mention in his "writing" that he's a millionaire. Could that be it?)
  7. I think you are misunderstanding his meaning there. He references the "Tea Party" only in the sense that the ideology that he and his friends are promoting must use the same type of grassroots organization and proliferation that aided in the successful rise of the "Tea Party" movement in the US. Nothing more. He goes on to say in his writings that the social struggles in Europe and in the US are quite different and really cannot be compared and that he mostly ignores US political and social mechanics. Also, ideologically he is 180 degrees out of sync with the Tea Party. He sounds more like a fascist than he admits although even in his condemnation of fascism he seems to admire it. The scary part for Norway is that there seems to be a whole covey of these guys "grassrooting" themselves into a mutually supportive, murderous frenzy. Nice try to link him to Tea Party ideas but he's way over on the other end of the rope.
  8. I wonder how long before Christian leaders denounce it and publicly state that they do not condone such actions. Sad event. My most sincere condolences to the people of Norway for their loss. If it is determined that his actions were tied to his "Christianity" I would expect Christian leaders to condemn his actions in the strongest possible terms. Also, I would bet that Christian leaders would not qualify their condemnation with ridiculous additional comments condemning his victims' or that they brought it upon themselves and thus were deserved targets of the jihadist crusader. (I just don't get it. This guy lived in happy socialist paradise. What beef could he possibly have had?)
  9. they live long and happy lives... About the same as most other Western European countries or Israel or Australia or Jordan, etc. I'm sure that the folks in these other countries are happy, too.
  10. Appears you have it right: http://www.kpmg.no/arch/_img/9585751.pdf (NOK700,000 is about $130,000) These guys appear to be wrong (third paragraph) Maybe someone living in Norway can provide accurate real world info. How do housing prices compare with the NOK700k threshold? Cost of living? How does this wealth tax affect the "average" Norwegian?
  11. Yes, they tax everyone's "wealth" ...even the poor folks who must sell the family caribou or raise their debt ceiling to pay up. No problem if you're forced to pay more than you have ...the (wealthy, BTW) grand overseer sees to it that all that is needed is provided. But this still hasn't resulted in "equality of wealth" (yet). Nice flat rate, though. Flat income taxes, too.
  12. Nice try, but Norway doesn't just tax the rich. All Norwegians pay a 1% wealth tax ...not just "the wealthy". "Since the wealth tax is a flat fee, a number of people end up paying more than 50% tax on their income, and for some individuals the total tax burden adds up to more than 100%, in which case they are forced to sell some of their assets or lend on them in order to pay their taxes." "The Norwegian government considers the wealth tax to be an important tool for redistribution of wealth. The basic premise on which the wealth tax is founded is that the confiscation of 1% of all private property every year, will reduce the gap between the rich and the poor, ignoring the fact that confiscation of private property necessarily reduces the ability of private individuals to create wealth, and hence work places for the less well off." Looks like "the poor" get screwed in Norway, too. You would expect this could only happen somewhere where they have a king. Oh, wait ....they do have a king.
  13. Give me an example of a non-shithole country that has successfully pulled this off and where everyone is now happily basking in equality of wealth. Hell, give me an example of any country ...shithole or not. (Yeah, I know ...if you could only just shoot all the disagree-ers it might work. But that's been tried, too.) I don't think you can even come up with a reasonably large, autonomous, utopian hippie commune that didn't eventually collapse under the weight of it's own dumbassity.
  14. we just need to tax the rich more - that's who has the money (or hadn't you noticed) Are you advocating taxing the money they have or the money they make? Just trying to get a clear view of your position on this.
  15. ...to have heard the double sonic booms!
  16. Yes, it does. But I'll give them the benefit of the doubt. Hey, it's not whether you win or lose ....... (Psst! ...MIT! Next year see if you can schedule Becker College for Homecoming! )
  17. MIT, huh? I'm guessing that his Masters Degree in City Planning ensures that the criminals are now outsmarted and it will never occur to them to get their crime-committing bullets outside the city limits ...or steal them from the rest of the engineers in Baltimore who bought bullets with the $1 surtax. If the criminals do decide to break off an extra dollar per bullet and buy their ammo in the city it may force them to quit holding their guns sideways and learn to be a little more accurate. (those MIT guys can't even come up with their own football cheers. )
  18. A right-wing Republican filing a frivolous lawsuit? Oh, say it ain't so. I, personally, don't care whether the guy got his plate or not. I'm more interested in "...the DMV denied his applications, stating the request was 'vulgar or obscene or expressing superiority of political affiliation.'" ...and then he discovers that "...the DMV had issued other politics-related license plates, including 'DMOCRAT,' 'AL GORE,' 'KERRY,' 'EDWARDS,' 'DEAN,' 'HILLARY' and 'RONPAUL,' while rejecting requests for 'REPBLCN' and 'BUSH,'..." Looks to me like some jackass at a government agency attempted to deny this guy his 1st amendment rights at it's most fundamental level ...political expression. Doesn't matter whether the issue is some BS personalized plate in Nevada or a Code Pink rally at the WH in DC. He only got his plate when the doo-doo started getting deep at the DMV and they realized they couldn't "Boss Hogg" their way out of it. I agree that it would be frivolous if the State had a policy that no political statements were to be allowed on plates and that policy had been enforced previously. (If the allegations are truthful and the report is accurate, of course.)
  19. Near the end of the article in the OP it does state that the plate was finally issued on Dec 30, 2010 ...after he tried for 2 years. Maybe the DMV finally realized, even after they previously ignored a judge's opinion, that they were wrong and were exposing themselves to legal problems so they went ahead and issued the plate. Is the Las Vegas Sun a right-wing rag? (IDK ...just asking) Is it your opinion that the Las Vegas Sun article cited in the OP is inaccurate and biased? Can you point to other sources that has the DMV disputing any of the "facts" in that article?
  20. I think he's talking about his eyeballs.
  21. I agree with the second, but not the first. It doesn't cat as a cat-tandem, unless you give the cat a fighting chance. Also, why are there so many people that think this is mean? Every time someone posts a dog-tandem video, everyone thinks it's cool. Who's to say that the dog likes it and the cat doesn't? Now personally, I don't think people should take unwilling participants of any species, but that's just me. I'm more interested in the cats-vs-dogs arguments. You don't have to agree or disagree. Those are the rules ....I didn't write them. BTW - I heard the recording of the radio broadcast played over the PA system at Zhills in the early 90s. I'd love to get a copy somehow. The "event announcer" and the sound effects were hilarious.
  22. Yep! Early 90s I bought a rig from someone who was trying to sell it at a pawn shop. Paid 20 or 30 bucks. It was obviously a pretty old rig, still packed, and I couldn't resist. It was damp and moldy, like it was stored in a place that leaked. Turned out to be a "Sod Farm" container (non-TSO) with a StratoStar and a round reserve. The container has R3 releases and is solid red. I still have it. I don't remember what happened to the reserve canopy but I sold the Strat to a guy who wanted to make a kite or something. It was red and black and had rings but was converted to slider at some point. It did have a double bridle (attached to cells 2 and 4) to a single pilot chute. Interesting rig.
  23. Sounds like he's got a pretty good argument if he's not lying about the dates, the DMV's initial response and the previous issuance of other political plates. Not frivolous at all.
