And the ability to change things is what makes this a democracy. Therefore dissent = good. Ah, yes. The old catch-22. I think what bothers me most is that the rest of the world looks at us and sees that we dont respect the leaders of our country. So why should they? OH, look, everyone thinks the Queen of England is a joke! Well I dont live in England.. but they all do.. so I guess she must be a joke. I dont agree with *all* of GWB's decisions.. but at least hes got character so people can make fun of him. Makes that a lot easier huh? *** Yeppers. I guess the biggest problem I see with the whole "opinion of "_________" (you fill in the blank) is we seem to base it on whatever the media feeds us, not facts. Just as a side note and trying to be-careful not to get this thread sent to SC, dissent is by most definitions an opinion against...that in itself is not progress. Offering a new or differing opinion with factual reasons for that opinion may help incite progress, but to just disagree...well I can't agree with that. BTW, Bush's approval ratings are lower than ever in New Orleans, Reggie Bush that is!

But I still get a little pissy when the President is blatantly disrespected. When I was a kid, we lived in a foreign country and I was always so proud of the American Flag and what it represented. Thats definitley stuck with me. I think that the clip is funny as anything I've seen in awhile. I also agree with chaoskitty in the idea that as people who are so Blessed to live in this wonderful nation we should respect our Presidency because of our freedom. Dissent and satire are not good things, nor do they help maintain our freedom. Abusing our rights/freedom will eventually cause us to lose them. It was funny though...

Just a personal note here... Carnival seems to be taking a beating on this thread. I am neither an employee or a part owner so I have no motive one way or the other, but every Carnival Cruise my wife and I have been on was wonderful. We always had great entertainment, great food and great service. I am not saying don't go with the Royal cruise, just stating that we have never had anything but wonderful trips with wonderful service. I am not sure what the "herding around issue was, but we didn't experience anything like that. Treated like kings!

But the cruise I won is more like the first one you mentioned. I can take either 4 day/3 night or 5 day/4 nights to the Bahamas, out of Miami. Still sounds fun since I've never done it and it's free. *** Hey Girl, It's all about what you like, but the wife and I have been on 4. We have only gone on the larger ships, but they are great! The food is super, entertainment 24 hours a day, never a dull moment. Which cruise line is it through? That makes a difference sometimes. As far as the kids side of it, we took all of ours (all 4) last year. The 21 yr old had a blast, the twins who are 16 yr old were kinda board because the teen activities were a little lame and our 10 year old would go again tomorrow and the "Kids camp" was a lot of fun for her age. I think the teenager thing is just a age thing. The biggest catch is the price includes everything on board except alcohol...you can drink a "boatload" while on board!

Friends video- taped the entire affair. Immediately before the jump, Steve, ever the macho man, grabbed his crotch, yelled, ”Party ‘til impact!” and jumped. Very shortly after that, there was a thud, clearly audible on the tape, followed by some pretty loud screaming allllll the way to the bottom. Then silence. The friends at the top of the cliff started yelling, “Steve, are you all right?” repeatedly, probably for several minutes. Finally Steve’s tiny voice could be heard from below, “Nooooooooo!” He had rammed into the cliff, shattering both feet and ankles. Later, he showed the video (to me anyway) over and over, finding it highly amusing. Weird. *** I have a copy of that video. He gave me a VHS tape a year or so before his accident that had so many crazy things on it. I have him exiting a 182 at 240 feet on a real nasty day at the DZ. (Won't say which or who was flying...) So many stories, so many days at the DZ followed by parties at his house in North Charleston, late nights in the Jaccuzi, Vern, Naomi, the Charleston gang... I think that was around the start of the Christine days. Now I am going to have to go find that tape and relive some of our shannagins!

Steve was a trip, in all places, at all times...never a dull moment! Steve on women... "I like my women anorexic. Give me an Ethiopian woman any day"! and if you remember his pig... "Fat Chick, Fat Chick ... SQUEAL SQUEAL!! I made my 1000th with Steve while he was making his 1000th. We made a wedge off of a tandem which was my wife making her 1st jump... So many quotes in my log book, he used to always write in Led Zep and Pink Floyd lyrics...I miss Steve.
