  1. The NOVA consisted of a pilot chute with a collapsible main. I am one of the lucky ones who folded one up and survived. *** I too survived my Nova. Exit wt was probably 205 and I was jumping a 120. I had about 60 jumps on it when the nose rolled under on a 120 degree front riser turn to land. It "poped" open again I flared and biffed. There had already been a few incidents in other places and the Stiletto had started shipping. Picked one of the six color patterns (That's right, the Stiletto had 6 patterns to chose from, take 'em or leave 'em.) and ordered my canopy that day. I cut the canopy off the risers... One of the other guys on my 4-way team had a 99 and had it roll under twice on him. Not sure how he survived, but he cut the lines off of his and hung it on a wall.
  2. Was the Bat Wing not on the market before the Stiletto? I thought it was one of the first elipticals?? *** I believe the Bat Wing was a good year behind the Stiletto. However, the Nova came out before the Stiletto. Although if I remember correctly someone once told me the Nova was the worlds first self-packing parachute...the timing was just slightly off...
  3. Useless... If you take the letters of the word "Mother-in-law" and change them around, they spell "Woman Hitler"! My work here is done...
  4. Dark Wing (Jeff W.), Pendejo (Keith R.), Ganja (Scott W.), and Wayne P. had an all big-boy team at BSA. The were pretty good too! Dark Wing is a Dr. of Physics so the team name... Critical Mass!!!!! The only thing I ever worried about with them, was the video man burning up on re-entry... Some of the greatest guys I ever had the privilege of hanging with!
  5. Even then, in a young man's body, it was like jumping a canopy that didn't flare as much as you'd like, and landed harder than you liked. That is the main reason I made a few that had 6, 7 or 8 cells. They were better. *** Once you got it to a 7 cell, wouldn't it have been considered a strato-cloud?? My first square main was a bullet proof cloud with a 24' flat with a 4-line release. It was all "nicely placed" (ever so gently) into a Racer SST (struggle struggle thump) Wooo-Hooo!!!! Those were the days!!!!
  6. Our twin daughters will be 18 in a couple of weeks, seems like just yesterday... The wife and I will put you in our prayers. Do what the docs say, get plenty of rest, and believe. Ours were a little early (36 weeks), which is normal for twins. The wifey ended up on bed rest around 30 weeks so we understand. The cool thing, going through hurricane Hugo, 3 weeks before delivery...right through the eye. I will never forget my brother in law saying, "We could jump this..."
  7. According to the news this morning, she was nothing more than PC in her response. We have African Americans, Asian Americans, etc. Those who are born here in America and deem themselves American and nothing more, nothing less, should consider themselves U.S. Americans.
  8. Hey bro...what's the difference between a Clemson Cheerleader and a cow??? [:| Oh...'bout 3 lbs!!!! Go ahead, who's next???
  9. Hit the nail on the head there......I remember somebody a couple of years ago bragging how he did a demo into a car lot in Texas and had people diving out of his way. He was actually proud of it! I have no problem with people *earning* their pro rating on a 90....(mine is on a 107) BUT along with that comes the responsibility to know when to jump it or upsize to an appropriate canopy. You sir are exactly right!
  10. 16 hours US History until 1945 Computor Programing Chemistry with a lab Religion Faith and Reason Spanish And I'm on the Dean's List from last year... Working full-time too... If I can do it, anyone can!
  11. Yeah I get to a couple of games every year, and was at one a couple of weeks ago. I didn't record or Tivo the show so I don't have it and they did show probably 20-30- seconds of them total. They even interviewed them after the jump, however the one who did the talking had his back to the camera most of the time. The announcer even said what kind of Elvis doesn't know to face the camera...
  12. So I am watching the pre-game show for Braves Baseball tonight. It is Elvis night at Turner Field and a couple of guys jump into the game in their Elvis costumes.
  13. 7th straight day over 100 degrees today, and probably 5 more days of this to come. We're gonna smash the record of consecutive days over 100! Woo hoo!! *** Yeah, two things, Number 1, why did you wait until I got there to break a record and Number 2, didn't you set a record while we were together 10 years ago??? I still can't believe that Skymama said that...
  14. Oh and by the way...thanks for joining me for dinner Tue night. Great food, great company and great time! Tell Flo and Sami I said hi!!! Especially Sami!!!
  15. Man after all day Wed and Thursday (yeah, I ended up spending an extra day in Birmingham) working outside, in the heat, in a trailer and in the middle of a concrete parking lot, well I thought I knew what hot was, but THAT was just plain old hot. Of course, it wasn't nearly as hot as Skymama talking about being soaked and her panties and bra... I really can't believe she wrote that...
  16. Yes I do like sushi...thanks for the tip!
  17. Dude...I don't know how it can be any hotter than it is here, but I trust you... Driving in tomorrow. It is only 6 hours and I started to fly but it it a pain in the ass to drive to Charleston, fly to Charlotte, hop to Birmingham...rent a car, hell that will take the same amount of time and cost $600. I'll just drive. Billy...I pmd my cell number call me and I'll sign to you! Probably roll in on 20 so maybe we can hook up in R-side! Shoot you the details in the morning!
  18. I'll be in Birmingham tomorrow and tomorrow night (Tue). Any ideas as to a good place to eat or something to do??
  19. My daughter gave birth to a 6 lb 13 oz baby girl at 12:44am. I didn't get to bed until 4:00 am and I haven't gotten pictures loaded yet, but as soon as I do I will attach a couple. I must be getting old...I used to stay up till 4:00am all the time... But I could use to get another hour or two of sleep! Oh well, that's what Grandpops are for, sleepin! Oh, Mom and Baby, Riley Michele, are doing fine...
  20. And I went to pick her up in the raaaaiinnnnn...
  21. Absolutely not - expecially Billy Vance's attachments. Lets not be selling out too cheap here - I should at least be gettin a dollah! *** Your worth has already exceeded the price!! Turtlespeed for President!! (So long as HH is his Mod.)
  22. Well, hell, you can just ask ME what you should have an opinion about and what it should be then. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * COOL!!!! Let's see, where should I start??? Hmmmm, should I feel insulted that I need to go to you for an opinion, or should I wait until Antifnsocial tells me that it doesn't matter what my/your opinion is before i feel insulted?? Turtle, I always knew I could count on you!!! Ewe Da Man!!!!! Finally...a thread we can all enjoy! Maybe this one needs attention, should I feel insulted when people post pictures that require a NSFW rating??? The Turtle is in!!! Opinion, one nickle!!
  23. by all means; insult them, call them names, assume my opinion is the only one around and I am the only person who is right. Because of course, I am going to... *** My Dad always told me that if he wanted my opinion, he would let me know what it was. He has since passed away and he never told me, so I guess I have no opinion...
  24. Yeah, right now the procession is going on for the nine men who died here (Charleston, SC) fighting a fire Monday. It is being covered pretty much on all of the news stations nationally. The men and women who serve and protect, police, fire, rescue, my respect is yours. May God Bless you for the sacrifices made by you and your family.
  25. I can not express the sadness that I feel knowing that we have lost our brother. Jay, Mary, Shawn, and Brian, I am praying for God to comfort you in this time. Jason had the most contagious smile. He was the kind of man that was always fun to be with. I will always remember him as a part of the Judice family, becuase that was what he stood for and believed in. Family. I will miss you Jason... Wally
