  1. As far as the age, there's nothing wrong with a 1999. PIA industry has said the 20yrs is the life of a reserve. Check how many rides are on the reserve, number of packjobs, talk to the rigger who has packed it. Like another post said, have it inspected at the Mfg. ______________________________________________ - Does this small canopy make my balls look big? - J. Hayes -
  2. If I remember correctly it's a Duracell 2CR11108 6 volt 28L . It looks like a minature D-cell. Instructions? only the first (highest alarm can be set) one button makes it go up, one makes it go down.. ______________________________________________ - Does this small canopy make my balls look big? - J. 3. Did you mean 200 jump wonders? ______________________________________________ - Does this small canopy make my balls look big? - J. Hayes -
  4. Pull out the PC is packed inside the main container and the pin is attached to the "pud" with a small lanyard. You initiate opening by manually opening the container and dragging the PC into the wind. It's a very secure system and reduces some malfunctions. (and no it's not a Spring loaded system) . Throw out is the most common. The one with the spandex/spandura pouch on the bottom of the container (eg BOC). Bob, how do you fly your hands when you're head-down? I used to have shoulder problems if I flew plams up (in relation to my head). If you fly palms down it relieves a LOT of pressure on your shoulder. Have someone push down on your hand when your arm is out. Then rotate it and see how much difference there is. Hope you recover soon, d ______________________________________________ - Does this small canopy make my balls look big? - J. Hayes -
  5. A 15mm Sigma lens works pretty well but the 14mm Canon lens is a better quality. (this translates to roughly 24mm). As far as the switch, the Adidt remote switch is avaliable on ebay for pretty cheap, then you'll have to mate it to the conceptus switch http://www.craigtrimble.com/d60remote.htm is a pretty good description on how to make the switch ______________________________________________ - Does this small canopy make my balls look big? - J. 6. The main reason that some DZ's don't allow under 18's to jump is the legal aspects if someone gets hurt. When you sign a waiver as an 18+ you've entered a legal agreement that you or any of your legal representatives can't sue the DZ. There are some questions if parents (who must sign the waiver for an under 18) can sign away the "rights" of a minor. The parents couldn't sue the DZ but the minor could possibly get a legal representative to sue on his/her behalf. It's a sue happy world and everyone's got a lawyer, and a back-up lawyer... ______________________________________________ - Does this small canopy make my balls look big? - J. Hayes -
  7. We don't have an age limit, but if I'm about to take a student up and I think they're going to have a hard time PLFing, I'll bring it to the attention of the DZO. Some people at 75 are more agile than others at 55. It all depends on the person. Look at the SOS & POPS. ______________________________________________ - Does this small canopy make my balls look big? - J. Hayes -
  8. I used to jump at Raeford and the one thing I can tell you is the place is completely safety conscious. The USPA Mid-Atlantic RD runs the school. If you make a stupid decision there will be plenty of people to talk to about it and how to correct it. They don't want to see any more accidents than anyone else. Yes accidents have happened there, anyplace that has a lot of jumpers will have accidents. Do you feel that people who take 16yr olds on AFF are not-safety minded? ______________________________________________ - Does this small canopy make my balls look big? - J. Hayes -
  9. Arrow Dynamics has closed. I made one for a Hawkeye with some cypres loop, some cut-away cable, black silicon, and a nico-press seal. Basically the cypres loop replaces one of the screws on the part where the chin cup and the chin strap are connected to the helmet. You'll have to push the cutaway cable though the glue where the earpad is connected. Tie the cypres loop very tight. The cable will fit under the helmet behind you ear and stick down just enough to grab it. I tested it by having someone pick me up by the helmet and then cutting it away. OR Bonehead makes a cutaway system for the Illusion that would work with far less effort and modification to the helmet. It's about $20. ______________________________________________ - Does this small canopy make my balls look big? - J. Hayes -
  10. These are some pretty good ones The size is set at 10%, increase it to 75% for a better view enjoy dave ______________________________________________ - Does this small canopy make my balls look big? - J. Hayes -
  11. They fit pretty much on size. The Mindwarp (the new version) is an awesome helmet, very comfortable, and functional. You can "bake" it to get a custom fit. Look on the website for details. The best thing to do is go to your local gear store and try one on. Some people have narrow heads and some people are fat-heads (or have a round noggin) The head measurement is just a starting point. ______________________________________________ - Does this small canopy make my balls look big? - J. 12. Call Carolina Sky Sports in Louisburg, NC. They do most of the skydiving conversions on the east coast. ______________________________________________ - Does this small canopy make my balls look big? - J. Hayes -
  13. Have you asked a doctor? I've never had any problems but possibly it could be from the rapid change in air temp?? ______________________________________________ - Does this small canopy make my balls look big? - J. Hayes -
  14. I got a tour last year from Bill and Mark and it is a awesome learning experience. I really liked the material tests. If anyone's in the area definitely do it. dave ______________________________________________ - Does this small canopy make my balls look big? - J. Hayes -
  15. Ummm, good or bad in what respect? Is there any reason that you're specifically looking for the Vector II? The VectorII was a good rig in it's day and if you're going to stay on your belly (eg. no freeflying) then it's a good rig. The biggest problem is that it has a lot of velcro which is not as secure as tuck-flaps. It would be best to talk to your instructor about it. I wouldn't hesitate to use a VectorII as a student rig. But unless money is a huge issue, then look at the VectorIII, Javelin, Mirage... ______________________________________________ - Does this small canopy make my balls look big? - J. Hayes -
  16. You'll have to be in a course that's run by a USPA/FAI judge that is certified in AE. Look on the USPA website for thoes listed. BB at Skydive Arizona put together a course last year so you might want to contact her. I'm pretty sure the course has to be run in conjunction with a real competition that you'll "judge." ______________________________________________ - Does this small canopy make my balls look big? - J. 17. RWS Micron with Xaos 21-98 and Vigil - my typical FF, AFF, fun jump rig. RWS Micron with Xaos 27-98 and Cypres (I have a Fusion 120 that I can easily switch out for back to backs or AFF, my Xaos-27 has the removable slider/d-bag system) A Strong Tandem System A Vector II with a Fusion 170 and Cypres - for a loaner rig/ small student. I glad I do have my Rigger's Ticket ______________________________________________ - Does this small canopy make my balls look big? - J. Hayes -
  18. RWS and Infinity have been building their pillows like that for a while. I like that design. I don't thing Strong's pocket would be a snag hazard, and if your velcro is good, it won't come off even at FF speeds. ______________________________________________ - Does this small canopy make my balls look big? - J. 19. I'm not familiar if the DZ is getting a "high profile" canopy course (such as Scott Miller, Jim Slaton,etc...) or if it is being run by a local. If it is high profile definitely attend it. It may be a one-time per season opportunity. I don't think it can hurt to attend, even if you aren't current. IT's still education. You might hear or be taught something that will save your life. Welcome back... blue skies ______________________________________________ - Does this small canopy make my balls look big? - J. Hayes -

  23. I personally use a GA-12 (it's a TSO'd device) and I put it in a cypres pouch. It will float you and your gear. http://www.pilotstore.com/store/item.asp?ITEM_ID=1695 d ______________________________________________ - Does this small canopy make my balls look big? - J. Hayes -
  24. Will you PM or post a little more detail as far as contact info for the GE Cap. I pay nearly the same premimum for my skydiving included insurance, and for far less coverage. thx. ______________________________________________ - Does this small canopy make my balls look big? - J. Hayes -
