IMO no, the opening aren't soft or consistent, Can you shoot video w/ one - yes - I did for about 800 jumps, even did some w/ stills. The openings really tend to search (sometimes violently). I have had some soft openings on velos and I have had some really hard spankers. As far as between the ST and VELO, the angle of flight on the Velo is MUCH steeper than the ST. I went from a ST120 at 1.8 to a Velo103 at 2.1 and it was almost scary the difference in non-braked straight flight. You have a ton of flare power on the VELO compared to the ST. Make sure that you backlight is disabled. That will kill the battery really quick. It won;t be on 100% of the time, just when buttons are hit or in freefall. Also make sure it is on econ mode rather than auto. I also do a lot of jumps and my neptune is doing pretty good with the battery (about 375 jumps). There's not really a chart that I know of but if you go to DBUYS and look at the different miniDV cameras, the specs are at the bottom. I'd go with what people are already using for skydiving, (PC-109, PC-330, PC-350, HC-20, HC-30, HC-40) There are also Bonehead boxes for all these cameras (as far as I know). For a first camera I'd look at the HC series, they're small relatively inexpensive, and produce good video. No, I think the PC10 came out it 2000 and it quite large. Why not spend $690 bucks at www.dbuys.com and get a new PC-109, or even $507 for the HC-40. I've got two Fusions and about 300 jumps on them. It is very similar to the Sabre2. At the wingloading you'll use, it's going to be pretty docile. You'll have a lot more power in the flare compared to PD210. The range of flare is pretty wide (ie It won't stall out very quickly). I wish Precision would push this canopy more. Here's a pic with the 15mm sigma lens and a 10D. It seems to work pretty well. Here are 2 pics (taken by Jason Peters) w/ an 8mm Fisheye, the distortion is pretty obvious on exit but not bad in freefall. Sigma does make a 12mm-24mm lens that has about the same results as the 15mm but I don't have any photos with it. Why don't you jump a canopy that's designed to be wing-loaded at 1.5 instead of trying to use a canopy that designed to be at a higher wing-load?? The canopy will not perform like it's supposed to.
