  1. Hey senor Tim, Just out of curiosity, do you not like the bungee slider keeper or slider keepers all together. Talk to you, Dave ______________________________________________ - Does this small canopy make my balls look big? - J. Hayes -
  2. Hey John, most people get them from the tent coverings that you can pack under. Wal-mart might have them in the camping section. ______________________________________________ - Does this small canopy make my balls look big? - J. Hayes -
  3. In agreement to Derek's post, I used to jump a Javelin Odyssey - undoubtedly a comfortable rig. When I got my Micron, I gave my Odyssey to a friend (he needed a better container) After using the RWS for a couple hundred jumps, I had to borrow my old Odyssey for a jump. I didn't feel it was comfortable at all, it felt loose and un-secure. I like a rig that "hugs" tight. Both rigs were built for me, so it's not a sizing issue. I like the stiff rig. ______________________________________________ - Does this small canopy make my balls look big? - J. Hayes -
  4. So don't use a rigger that packs sloppy. I do like the Mirage, Infinity, and Wings (also a tuck) reserve flap, but I still think the RWS is more secure. But to the original question, I was sold on the Skyhook after I got to jump the intentional cutaway rig. Even w/ a highly loaded spining main, I still got a clean reserve. ______________________________________________ - Does this small canopy make my balls look big? - J. Hayes -
  5. How do you get that? It's the most secure flap I've ever seen/used. ______________________________________________ - Does this small canopy make my balls look big? - J. Hayes -

  7. definitely call Sherry rather than e-mail her. She is in business and is finally catching up, but like Phee said her customer service is top notch. I've sold a lot of two piece camera suits, and then guys get a nornal freefly top that they can use to freefly, or do AFF, or tandem jumps ______________________________________________ - Does this small canopy make my balls look big? - J. 8. Another thing that will save you. Touch EVERY handle before you exit, Main, cutaway, reserve. Go through a mental scenario of pulling, having a malfunction, looking at each handle and grabing it, and then pulling them correctly. This muscle memory makes it very nice when you do have a cutaway and it seems like a routine action. I check every handle 2-4 times on the plane ride, it's repetitive but it works. ______________________________________________ - Does this small canopy make my balls look big? - J. Hayes -
  9. You are completely correct to research the sport. We sometimes fail to remember that we can get killed on every skydive. What your friend said is true, you have to save your life on every jump. However, you can take steps to be very safe. If you look at many of the fatalities, the number one killer is low turns under canopy. Sometimes these low turns are for "speed building" and some are due to obstacles. The mistakes aren't made at the time of impact, they're made at a higher altitude where you can take the easy out (landing area) or realize you're too low to start a high performance turn. Quality gear is also a consideration. Using an AAD is a great way to reduce fatalities, I know they're expensive but they're worth every penny when you're incapacitated, or you loose altitude awareness. Also remember it's ok to say no to a particular dive, or jump condition. I bit my wife's head on when she agreed to do a 6-way jump (her having 21 jumps) w/ an instructor (who is not the sharpest tool in the box) and four other very inexperienced jumpers. They set themselves up for failure. She didn't want to dissapoint everyone and scratch off the dive. Or there will be times when the winds are too high but people are egging you on to manifest, it's ok to say no and stay on the ground. Just like airplane crashes, the majority of parachute incidents are pilot error. Yes sometimes crap does happen, but technology has made this sport a lot safer. If we can just educate jumpers and make them act on that education we'll reduce many of the fatalities. There are approx 25,000 - 30,000 active skydivers in the US and probably the average number of jumps per skydiver is 150 per year which comes to 4.5 million jumps. If you bring it way down to 25 jumps per year avg, you're still looking at 750,000 skydives. your odds are pretty good. I too have a wife and children and there are a LOT of other skydivers out there that have families as well. Go to the DZ, sit throught the first jump course, if you still have reservations, talk to your instructor about them. Remember, you're the only person that's making you leave the airplane, no instructor will push you out, ( but they might assist you) http://www.skydivingfatalities.info ______________________________________________ - Does this small canopy make my balls look big? - J. 12. C-17 was an awesome jump. The tailgate is sooo freaking huge. And talk about relative wind... ______________________________________________ - Does this small canopy make my balls look big? - J. Hayes -
  13. An experienced AFF instructor should have a wealth of information. The course director usually has a video collection of AFF dives gone bad. Each CD has his own method he likes as far as the ground course. Contact the course director that you're going to and ask him. ______________________________________________ - Does this small canopy make my balls look big? - J. Hayes -

  15. Has anyone heard of "PIA rigger continuing education program?" I saw it under a staff member's bio on a dz's web page.(It's a very reliable DZ, and I know both the riggers at the dz are very good) What does it involve? How do you participate in the program? ______________________________________________ - Does this small canopy make my balls look big? - J. Hayes -
  16. every year, along w/ your other instructor ratings, Look at the IRM on uspa's web site, that will give you some info as far as renewing ______________________________________________ - Does this small canopy make my balls look big? - J. Hayes -
  17. Also as far as the differences in a Class I, II and III FAA physical, I have held all three (I currently hold a First Class) and there seems to be little difference in the exams (until you hit 40, where you're required an EKG for a 1st Class) except for the cost. Obviosuly the duration of the physical is different. The physical reverts to a lower class physical over a period of time. FAA physical, - eye test, BP test, piss test, touch your toes test, hearing test, check your breathing and heartbeat, turn your head and cough, I've even gotten the finger treatment... ______________________________________________ - Does this small canopy make my balls look big? - J. 18. John, you should simply inform droquette if he wants to see the video, all he has to do is join the Army, go to the GK tryouts, make the team, and he'll see the video at the Yuma safety brief. It's all pretty simple ______________________________________________ - Does this small canopy make my balls look big? - J. Hayes -
  19. I don't know if this has been posted before in the hundreds of threads, but now Skyride is selling on .... no need to post links to their advertisements. My edit. Chuck ______________________________________________ - Does this small canopy make my balls look big? - J. Hayes -
  20. I use it w/ a left side HC camera. It doesn't feel any more bulky than my old mindwarp w/ a PC-1. The jaw hinge is really secure. I also mount a 10D on top and will occasionally put a flash on it as well. I think it's one of the best all-around camera helmets. my .02 dave ______________________________________________ - Does this small canopy make my balls look big? - J. Hayes -
  21. Yeah, they're wanting to charge me and it's in the 2 year waranty. Oh well. Maybe I just talked to the wrong a$$ hole. I'll call them again. Thanks, D ______________________________________________ - Does this small canopy make my balls look big? - J. Hayes -
  22. What did they charge you for labor? I have a HC-40 (still in warranty) and it runs the batteries down really quickly. THe on/off switch seems to have a short. I contacted Sony and they said it would be $210 to fix it. D ______________________________________________ - Does this small canopy make my balls look big? - J. Hayes -
  23. I didn't put the not completing the cut away since as far as I know, every rig equipped w/ a Skyhook has a Collins Lanyard. Blue ones and merry christmas D ______________________________________________ - Does this small canopy make my balls look big? - J. Hayes -
  24. I was at Skydive Atlanta's Halloween Freefly Fest, and there was a skyhook intentional cutaway where the jumper released the left riser but not the right. It was one of the most violent malfunctions I have ever seen. Instead of spinning around the canopy, it appeared the canopy and jumper were spinning as they were a top ( the old kid's toy ) The reserve did have a few line twists. However that malfunction could only happen if your riser broke (both front and back) , the three ring was not properly attached, the main ring or harness fails, or both front and back line connectors break. ______________________________________________ - Does this small canopy make my balls look big? - J. 25. I've got one Micron w/ a Skyhook and one without. I've been able to jump the cut-away rig and was very impressed and I've seen a real Skyhook deployment (on my store's demo canopy) and it performed flawlessly. I recommend it to anyone buying a Vector. ______________________________________________ - Does this small canopy make my balls look big? - J. Hayes -
