Are you sure it's a 132. Maybe I'm misinformed but most of the R-maxes are 118,128, 138, etc... I've got a few jumps on R-maxes set up as mains, and they have a lot of power in the flare and fly quite well. Both are great reserves. I've got a ride on a PD143, & PD126, and they also fly great. I jump a Xaos 21-98, Xaos 27-98 and a Velo 96. (WL 2.3) None are twitchy on the toggles. That's not how the canopies are supposed to fly. It will get pretty "zippy" if you get in the 2.4-2.6 WL. The Xaos27 at a lower WL will feel sluggish, compared to the Xaos21 or the Velo at the same WL. I think a Stiletto, Nitron, Blade, Cobalt etc.. will feel like it turns quicker than the Xbraced, but the dive is no where comparable. Ummmm, I hope you're kidding. Most tandem mains that I've jumped are pretty "used" and they all tend to have really long openings. It's not the time to find out how a tandem main will open at sub-terminal when you've got 800ft until impact. just my .02 ______________________________________________ - Does this small canopy make my balls look big? - J. Just an FYI, I got to jump both an R-max 118 and 138 as a main. Both landed quite nicely and it does give me a more confidence in what I have as reserves. I've never had a -M ride but I have had a couple PD-R rides. I would suggest to anyone try to get your hands on a demo of what you've got as a reserve so you'll know how the canopy acts when you've got to use it. ______________________________________________ - Does this small canopy make my balls look big? - J. IMO I think one of the best ways to make someone feel relaxed is to be professional. We have one TM at the DZ who makes the corny jokes, says inappropriate things (told a preacher to say "holy shit, holy shit" on exit) , and pretty much everyone doesn't like doing jumps with the guy. No bragging but most people I have taken said they felt very comfortable jumping with me. Try to show them things on the ride up, talk to them about why they wanted to jump, explain how most people are nervous on their first jump (it's natural), tell them what to expect. Listen to what the passenger says, especially under canopy, don't keep spiraling down when the passenger says stop, if they like it and you have the altitude, do it. Whatever you do Please don't tell them or people who have come with them that you can "cutaway" a bad passenger. A TM told the mom of the passenger that he could cutaway the student if he was causing problems. Naturally they had a cutaway, and landed off the DZ. It took a lot of convincing that her baby wasn't dead. It was definitely a black eye on skydiving. ______________________________________________ - Does this small canopy make my balls look big? - J. If I wasn't policed and no one would get into trouble if something happened to me using an out of date reserve pack, I'd jump it. . I'd agree with that... or you can become a rigger and pencil pack it anytime just kidding... I always write the due date on the pack card and it makes it easier to do my repack before it is out of date. I have packed a reserve that had been packed for over two years and it was a BRICK. either it would be a long long snivel or possibly not have opened. ______________________________________________ - Does this small canopy make my balls look big? - J. My wife had one on her second tandem and I got the joy of watching the whole thing ...
