  1. I'm a retard, I was thinking this was the: Sony GV-HD700 :-P HYPOXIC
  2. Same place as the lens. BHphotovideo or local photo shop. HYPOXIC
  3. Greg Gasson has a pretty good list on his website Skydiving Stunts HYPOXIC
  4. Shogo, If you do get the HVR-MRC1 I made a one off controller for the military to use with this deck. Let me know if you ever happen to need one. -Trunk HYPOXIC
  5. Cookie manufacturers things. They do a whole run at a time and this takes a couple of months. They were finally able to get a camera in Oz in early March (Camera was released a week earlier). Design, rapid prototyping, and production takes some time but is really worth it. From what I heard, no one has a Cookie CX100 yet but they will be shipping very shortly. I do not see this as being shitty customer service at all, I see this as being amazingly fast design cycle. HYPOXIC
  6. I'll lend my lens to Sara or one of the organizers on the 100way tryouts and post the footage. Should give a good idea of how well it works with that camera. Maybe I'll just take it out to cinco de mayo @dosgringos & @de.la.casa.thronco tonight for some ground test footage. -thronco rodriguez HYPOXIC
  7. I was looking at being a distributor of the .3x 37mm century lens (BH link to DS-FEWA-37) but found I could get them cheaper at BH then I could directly from Century in large quantities. Seems they raised their prices in 2008 and BH still has the old stock. They are now listing for $410 and BH has them for $279. If you are thinking about getting this lens, it may not be a bad idea to stop procrastinating. Once their price goes up, I may then become a dealer HYPOXIC
  8. Yep it will take unlimited pics but it is pretty slow. If you have a CX100 start recording and press the photo button. It is the same method. Oh and of course you can pull stills off with any NLE that supports AVCHD. Even Sony's included photo browser utility will do it. If you just want stills, Hypoxic just released the HYPEYE D PRO Photo Kit. This just has the photo 2.5mm connector and not the other bulk of the expansion kit.. Check the above links for more info. -Trunk HYPOXIC
  9. Modified is an understatement. :-) Cool aluminum plug assembly... Very nicely machined and fabricated box. I think I saw a similar one for a CX7 at Eloy a few months ago and assume it was yours. Legendary work... -Trunk HYPOXIC
  10. Who's going? I know Scotty Burns, myself and DSE will be there. Who's going and more importantly who's up for a few cocktails at night? That is all... -Trunk HYPOXIC
  11. I would suggest a front face plate for you to mount the lens through. Take a look at schumacher's (DSE's mount). It allows your to screw in a lens hood that makes your wide angle lens act as part of the cage. In DSE's case he used a bathtub o'ring but you can actually machine something that goes around the lens to make it secure. Last time I talked to Terry he said he gave up on building cages since they take forever to design and he constantly needs to redesign them for each camera. DSE's using the CX7 cage that it looks like he moved the mount for the CX100. The nice thing about this cage was you can remove the lens and then slide out the camera via pulling a spring loaded pin from the back. Part of the base of the cage is a gold member style camera mount for sliding the camera in and out. Oh and for all you nay sayers, I say hell yeah make your own cage, it looks sweet. Perhaps we are welcoming the next Terry Schumacher :-P -Trunk HYPOXIC
  12. Check the cx100/cx105 posting. I have some footage under youtube.com/trunk420 but I did not post it a high enough bit rate. There are some comments of the TG5 on this post its time to geotag your HD videos -Trunk HYPOXIC
  13. Hate to say it guys... but my videos and skydiving got a ton better once I went and got Lasik. I never knew how much that slight flutter with contacts and the lack of peripheral vision effected my abilities. I know there is a bunch of reasons not got get it, but the more and more you get to specialized glasses the closer you get to recuperating the costs of lasik. Lets just say I'm a huge fan.... ok end of my thread hijacking and my 2 cents... Goodnight
  14. I have a sudden craving for milk.... Looks like those are built for comfort not speed. Man, that tandem master should of went tracking with you HYPOXIC
  15. Man, some things I see from the video and pictures: * Exmor Lens - cool * Changed form factor - bad :-( * Clip on Sony lens - I can't see this as being good for us, talk about shake ($100 Sony VCL-HGE07TB) Sounds like its a .7x * AV/R is still on body - Good :-) * Price tag - @$1000 think you are paying for the size and the GPS. Initial thoughts. With again the lack of a thread for a wide angle lens and the price tag, I would say the CX100/CX105 is probably a better option. Of course this is without seeing or playing with the camera. -Trunk HYPOXIC
  16. Hehehehehehe, can I be a disti Nicely done! HYPOXIC
  17. I gaffer mine, but you can grab a large velcro band, ala altimeter band, and fish it under the flatlock assembly before its mounted. I've seen a bunch of people grab webbing with a buckle from REI and either put a notch in their helmet/plate or you can probably just fish it under the flatlock and have it displace enough that the flatlock still mounts sturdy. Or take a file to it I like the webbing solution since it does make the whole assembly that much more secure. HYPOXIC
  18. BTW, instead of cutting out that notch for the connector you can always unscrew the 4 screws on the bottom of the HYPEYE D PRO, remove the cable and fish it through the other side. The Expansion Kit instructions will give you an idea. HYPOXIC
  19. I would try to coat the cut with clear nail polish or some other clear coat to prevent it from chipping. I believe Schumacher recommends clear silicon around the nylon screws of a ringsight mount, but think that will not work something the size of a Hypeye. HYPOXIC
  20. Probably, but these helmets aren't your normal DOT (or similar) certified anyway. Even though that hole was cut by cookie, remember that there is no expressed protection that any manufacturer provides. We can have a long conversation about what these helmets are meant to do. But in the end it may save you or it may actually lead to your death. Carbon fiber is some really strong stuff and have seen two cases where a helmet has saved someone's life. By having cameras, hypeye's, and/or ringsights mounted you do change the the characteristics of the helmet and make it less for protection and more likely that it itself will kill you. This is something we tend to forget but it should not be taken lightly. Ringsights have been known to be eye scoops, cameras have lodged into people's skulls on bad hooks... The truth is what you do to your helmet and how you mount the cameras and accessories is ultimately up to you... HYPOXIC
  21. There are a number of ways to mount it. If you buy a hypeye from cookie with the helmet I believe they will predrill and mount the hypeye free of charge. If you wish to do it yourself you can: 1) Mount it underneath by cutting with a dremel or increasing drill sizes until you get a 15mm hole and pushing the button through it. I use a dab of hot glue on the back side to completely secure it. 2) Cut a hole slightly smaller than the size of the base like cookie does. See the picture. 3) Drill a 3.5mm hole and use the included M3 screw to attach it to the top of the helmet like in the picture. I like this option since its easy to connect to the debrief port. Thanks to Benjamin Forde for shooting and cleaning up this photo of my camera helmet... That boy is good :-D -Trunk HYPOXIC
  22. Looks like Sony released a variety of really inexpensive standard def internal memory/Memory Stick PRO Duo cameras with the AV/R connector but unfortunately no thread for a wide angle lens. So basically for $269 you get a SD camera (MPEG2) with 4GB internal memory that you'll have to epoxy an adapter ring onto. It also has an extremely small battery so who know's how long it will last. Buying a $200 box for a $200 camera does not make much sense to me, neither does spending any money on a SD camera in this age. And for you linear editing people, it does not appear to have an IR port and does not come with a remote. And although Sony could probably do some trickery and pay a lot of royalties, it also does not have IEEE 1394 (firewire/ilink). On one positive note, they finally got Blue but dropped Black DCR-SX60 - 16GB $369MSRP DCR-SX41 - 8GB $299 DCR-SX40 - 4GB $269 Seems like a waste of money to me for skydiving applications but may be good for your teenager/you tuber... You decide.... Link They had a few at my local Fry's this morning... -TRUNK HYPOXIC
  23. Man, just when I thought I knew all the players. Exit Composites Looks like they make some very "familiar" looking camera helmets They do make an SLR box. This is the first I have ever seen anything of the sorts but sure others have done it. Exit Composites Boxes The box looks like it fits an xsi, but it does not really say camera body/lens combo. I feel it's, kinda a waste of $ if ur top mounting, but its cool to see and I'm sure it has a place. They also make a box for that sanyo pal/ntsc sytle camera thingy... For an idea of pricing parachut.fr distributes them and I'm sure a few others... Seems like they are from Argentina. -Trunk HYPOXIC
  24. I attached the schematic here. As long as you preserve the loopback of P1 4-5 you can do whatever you want. Even cut off the plastic mold. I don't care if people make there own, but those those connectors are a PIA to crimp. You can buy the expansion kit and modifying it all you want. I'm providing this on good grace, don't sue us or anything silly like that. HYPOXIC
  25. I don't know about RAWA but I believe Cookie's and TonFly's boxes are capable of being side mounted. Nothing says that you have to match your helmet manufacturer with your box manufacturer. If you really want to get a RAWA CX100 box, try giving Aerostore a call, they have really good ties with RAWA and would be able to help you out. Edit: Sorry thought you were in the states. I do not know who the RAWA dealer is in Chile. HYPOXIC
