  1. It sounds like your computer speed. Is it a laptop? Is it plugged in? My brand new macbook pro 17" dual core badass will stutter sometimes if I am on battery and not in a place with a good network connection. Finding a wireless network drives video crazy I've found. Antivirus and other things may cause your system's performance to degrade. As for the card. I've been fine with class 4 cards. However I've had issues with microsd->SD type cards. I think with these things it's hit or miss. Someone posted the note they have in their instructions about recommending kingston and another named brand manufacturer's cards. BTW, I just got off the phone with my GoPro rep and said if you ever see the SOS warning it means the file header was not written properly. If you place the card back into the original camera and see the SOS warning press any key to finalize it properly. HYPOXIC
  2. Where did you buy the memory stick? I once got one that looked original, had the hologram and all but wasn't. I think the one thing I noticed between the original packaging and the fake was that the fake did not have the warranty card insert within the packaging. The hologram was also slightly different. Take a look at this link just to make sure. http://reviews.ebay.com/FAKE-Sony-Memory-Stick-Pro-Duo-MagicGate-Cards-Exposed_W0QQugidZ10000000001236041 If it is original, return it to the store or manufacturer for a replacement. You can also attempt to reformat it but I have had limited success with that on fake cards. HYPOXIC
  3. I did some photos jumps with Arizona Arsenal and decided to put three Go Pro HDs while doing so to finally make up my mind on the best mode to use. I shot with R2, R4, and R5 modes. You can see the color warmth, clarity, and wide angle differences between the different modes. My ADD had the better of me and when switching to a different angle on the camera step, I accidentily lost my grip and fell off. It's flipping hillarious and that is also in this edit. Enjoy... Check it the Go Pro HD Mode Comparison. I think if you were using it as primary camera, R5 is perfect. If you want something for capturing a stunt, deployment, etc where you need super wide since you don't know what you're shooting; R4 is good. R4 seems extremely warm, which I find odd. R2 is good for wide angle in 16:9 aspect ratio. HYPOXIC
  4. It's 3m VHB tape. Its different than normal double sided tape that you would find in hardware stores. Super strong when pulled apart but not to hard to peel off. This is my mount these past two days when testing out some modes of operation/settings :-P Not for everyday use.... HYPOXIC
  5. All my camera helmets are @ the DZ or I would post a picture of how i mounted it. For hop and pops and cool opening shots, you can mount one of the 4 mounts towards the crown of your head. This is also good if you are on the base of a big way formation and want to "see"/debrief what is going on behind you. People present during the 108 world record know about this too well. For normal mounting, put the 3m tape mount on the forehead. The adjustments is enough to get slightly behind u and in the other extreme get a view of your feet in head down dives. They do sell a tripod mount but I haven't had a chance to mount it on one of my helmets. This thing takes a 1/4" tripod bolt and converts it to the gopro swivel clamp. This will be better for more permanent mounts but totally "ties" the camera in, which may or may not be a good thing. Even though I have some, I want to test it out and make sure it's kosher before I sell any to the general skydiving community. I'll probably just sell those locally to people i know and trust. As DSE and everyone else has said, talk to you're S&TA, camera guru, local head honcho, person you respect @ the DZ first! Seriously guys, please be careful with these, they are not toys!... I should figure out how to put a jump number input field on my order page but positive people will just lie anyway. Sigh.... HYPOXIC
  6. If you are just talking about the small portion on top of a FF camera helmet, you will not notice any difference. If you're talking about a flat top pro, you will feel some pressure at first, but quickly goes away. What to remember though is where is all your drag coming from in headdown? Your legs. Think about the surface area of your legs in comparison to the 6 square inches of flatness provided by the helmet. HYPOXIC
  7. Right now it's a 135deg wide. I could of sworn when I talked to my rep she said they'll have lens kits come out in a few months. I'll email her and see if my memory was correct. -Trunk HYPOXIC
  8. I really ends up being your call. If you plan on being on funnel exits style dive I don't feel 90% camera setups are really protected against that. You'll see lenses ripped off, mounts broken etc. From our experience we've seen the plastic mount break before the VHB adhesive ever budge. We tried to rip two off on a stunt and the one where we used 80lb test line, the 80lb line broke. On the one we used tandem line, the plastic mount with the VHB, the actual plastic cracked to release the camera. You could add a lanyard to the camera but then you have the issue if the camera got somehow got wrapped up in your lines upon deployment, the camera released but now you have a lanyard preventing it from clearing. Top mounting these cameras definitely help prevent this from occurring but bad body position, prematures, or spinning non-level reserve fires may pose an entangling issue. With that said, if you are worried about it on a certain jump, you may just want to leave it on the ground. It comes off in a snap. Most boxes are going for around 200+ I'm not sure a box is warranted on these cameras. Perhaps build yourself some Very High density foam blocks that cover up the snag points. This is never a bad idea. I don't think the goPros look that bad. It's the new style especially when you see airspeed, Red Bull, Arsenal and I'm sure other teams training and using them on a day to day basis. HYPOXIC
  9. Tons of skydives and my first real pictures. Unfortunately they are a tandem, but oh well... Thank you Darren Koch photo credit. This was a skydive out of a c130 for charity... Did I mention I love charity work? HYPOXIC

    sitfly lift

You can point your legs out like / \ that for minor speed adjustments, but you get tons of more lift from using your back and my preferred fatboy method, back and daffy. Remember chin back. HYPOXIC

  12. Yeah there is way too much tolerance in the mount. Just place a piece of gaffers tape on the flat part and you'll be squared away. I had issues with MicroSD/SD card adapter combos. I've found the PNY cards from walmart work pretty damn good. Here's some screen grabs HYPOXIC
  13. Yeah I was unsure about the 3m tape at first, but after these past few days, I got to say that stuff is stupidly strong. I've seen the mounts break before that tape pops off. Just saying. So brief tally: 4 Go Pro HDs went in, 2 still work, 2 are dead, 1 mp4 file did not seem to complete properly, 1 SD card appears corrupted. So in this very scientific research, I conclude, if your go pro HD goes in, you have a 50/50 chance of reusing the camera. Everyone was totally stoked about the footage. I unfortunately cannot post it, but I'm sure it will surface in the next few months on TV shows, commercials, etc. HYPOXIC
  14. So on a short note, we had one gopro HD go in today and it was still recording when we got to it. Thankfully the bathtub took a good amount of the impact but it still recorded. We also tried to replicate the same scene and ended up trashing 2 GoPro HDs and possibly the footage in the process. I've done a bunch of work with these in the past few days and as soon as we finish throwing these tables out of the skyvan, I'll provide some screen shots and some other information. The lens on the plastic case is pretty bad and if you live in a dry climate you may just want to mount it outside of the box. I believe some of the extreme over exposure that I have seen from it upon exit/in the plane is from this imperfect lens. I'll share these in the next day or two but in the meantime don't do anything rash. On an end note, did my first garbage day today and still grinning ear to ear.

  17. Guys, I use a different backpack for my weekly DZ runs (Cinepack), but buy.com has a really nice one for hella cheap. Figured I'd pass it on to you guys. Urban Gear Street-Smart Camera Bag/Backpack, Rip-Stop 600D Nylon, Fits 17" Laptop, 7.15lbs - U220BK -Trunk HYPOXIC
  18. BH was warning about this with Sony's latest cameras. Did you happen to buy from them? I would not be surprised that if you complain to BH they may be able to do something like get a replacement. I can ask my BH guy if anything ever happened from their complaint. They have seen a lot of these in the field. HYPOXIC
  19. Has no ring for a wide angle. Besides that, it all depends what you are looking for in a camera and why. HYPOXIC
  20. I should have 20 in like 2 days. I'll have the link on our website when I got them in stock. Plus you'll be supporting a skydiver :-P -Trunk HYPOXIC
  21. Rich, i sent you an email. We'll get this figured out. You can also call us when you got the camera in hand and we can try and work it out. HYPOXIC
  22. This was a slight bug in the first run of the HYPEYE D PROs. I was sending a bit to the cameras that flips the image around so it can be used for underwater housings. (Nice undocumented features) One of those things you never expect to happen, but we finally saw it in the field. Pulling it out a few mm so the switch deactivates flips it back to normal. If you send it back I will reprogram it for you. Or, if you're going to be at chick's rock or Eloy anytime in the near future I can do it there. HYPOXIC
  23. JUMPWALLY, Here are the pics from the incident and then the other rig is how the manufacturer figures the incident occurred. I believe the bridle coming from flap two was pulled out slightly before the pics were taken. The bridle was taunt when I walked back with Lisa after the incident. HYPOXIC
