  1. WTF?!! That is so very sad. I never met Wes in person but we shared numerous very long winded emails about various camera helmet topics. Sounds like he was always striving for perfection and his camera helmets show it. We lost an innovator today and I'm extremely sorry to hear about his passing. HYPOXIC
  2. I just got these Shure SE115 earphones for tunnel flying and they rock. They have this 3M type earplug compression foam that blocks out external tunnel noise and all you hear is the music. I totally would NOT suggest these for coaching (hearing your instructor or student) or in the air (hearing your ditter), but for Huck Jams they rock. Anyone else find a good set? HYPOXIC
  3. guscabana, any possible way you can post the shake that you are seeing in head up. I just would like to see how this camera reacts without actually buying one this time. Is it shake or flutter? HYPOXIC
  4. Sounds like it can be either the cable or the jack on the camera. Let's hope its the cable. Send me your contact information @ support(at)gethypoxic.com and I can replace the 'D' cable for you and rule that out. -Trunk HYPOXIC
  5. Just to add slightly to this conversation. I use a "focus mode selection switch" before the bite switch like cratermaker describes. In one mode its a focus and fire and in the other mode its continuous focus. By having my camera constantly focus in freefall, I generally don't get any "out of focus" pictures on my 50D anymore. Before, with the focus and fire (shutter lead connected to focus lead), I would always get a few out of focus shots on each jump. I stole the constant focusing idea from Steve Curtis's setup and refined it with a switch. Since then I have noticed other people are working on the same concept.
  6. I actually recommend using the metal ones. The plastic ones tend to easily pop off and de-thread. This can be a huge debate, (think we may already had this) but I feel a lot more confident with the metal rings that century provides vs. something plastic like those that come with the raynox lenses. I've had my raynox pop on the ground after a tame skydive. Thank god it finally let go on the grass and not in the sky. Yes a hard hit can break the threads off of your CX100, but I rather a light hit on the door frame not pop off a $300 lens. Of course lending your $300 lens to someone is another sure way to loose it... Mr Shorb... HYPOXIC
  7. Whoops, on Jim's its a Century .3x. Guess I could of just looked at the pics. It's up to Jim, if he wants them up on youtube I'd be more than happy to post them. -Trunk HYPOXIC
  8. Thx Jim... I told you at the world record but wanted to reiterate, that I think this setup is brilliant. The footage from this camera is simply amazing even if some of it may be just be by luck. This may be a decent place to state: World Record 108 Way Video Camera setups Jason Peters - Underneath - CX100 w/ Century .55x FTP w/ 5D Brian Buckland - Underneath - HC1(3?) w/ Kenko .43 FTP w/ 5D MarkII Norman Kent CX100 w/ no lens - Top/Side - FTP w/ XDCAM. Believe he shot some stills too. Jim Harris CX100 w/ Century .55x - Inside Rotating - Bonehead Optik illusion Craig O'Brian - Top - totally spacing. HYPOXIC
  9. Mike, very soon buddy. Thx everyone for the kind words. See you all at the next big boogie! HYPOXIC
  10. So today is finally the day. Today is my last day of working for Corporate America. Not many of you knew, but I have been running HYPOXIC while still working a 8 to 6 Engineering job. Because of your continuous support, you have made HYPOXIC an industry known name and enabled me to cutaway. For that, you have my deepest gratitude. Expect to see a bunch of new products, better customer service, enhancements, and just pure awesomeness. Thank you so much! -Trunk HYPOXIC
  11. Jim Harris had the sickest mount ever during the 108 headdown record attempts. Ended up mounting a small motor and two gears up to a CX100 camera mount and allowing the camera to rotate during the entire skydive. He would turn it on right before exit so he would get the sickest shots. You can clearly see them in a few cuts of the main video seen here: 108 World Record I'm a retard and did not take a picture of it but you all get the idea... That exit shot is one of the sickest shots I have ever seen on a record attempt. Also there is the cut where "soemone" had to rotate around 90% of the formation to find his slot. Jim's camera was perfectly in tune to this rotation. Take a look... Freaking Genius! HYPOXIC
  12. Full edited video as seen on the DVD. Combination of Brian Buckland, Jason Peters, Norman Kent and Jim Harris's view. Rad! 108-Way Headdown World Record Blue Ones, -Trunk HYPOXIC
  13. I just ripped mine off, worked like a charm. ymmv. I love technical responses. HYPOXIC
  14. Terry really has not been selling the cages. They were originally made for the CX7 but I retro fitted mine (new drill hole) to fit the CX100. I think spot and myself have the only two in existence. There may be parts for a few more at his shop. However, for the CX100, he made a nifty box as seen on his post here I need to run by his shop in the next few days, I'll ask about the cages and his CX100 box. The nice thing is it has a insert for a baby death. HYPOXIC
  15. Pick me, pick me! I want to be that retard hahaha Cool stuff. I dare someone to try it upright (stand). Then dare someone to try a hang ten. Hmmm, someone throw Omar a wingsuit. Zoom Zoom! meow HYPOXIC

  17. Hypoxic is actually a dealer with GoPros. I'll try to get a sample as soon as possible. I too thought the SD version was a neat camera, but the quality was pretty damn bad. Hopefully they also fixed the black dot sun problem. -Trunk HYPOXIC
  18. Sweet! that guy in blue @ 124 is hella sexy... Thx again bro, see u at summerfest HYPOXIC
  19. Does this mean I have to be the guinea pig again? Looks like some of the European countries have started selling a CX106E. Looks like the same as a CX105E but perhaps they just re-ran the old tooling with some minor firmware tweaks? Or, looks like they updated the software to make it easier to ship onto youtube. Manual is not online, product comparison is not available for it and price is not available... gee HYPOXIC
  20. You know, you get messed up one time around wingsuiters and now you have to moderate the wingsuit forums for all eternity. That is just not fair... Figure 8 weave? I was pretty Trunked but think it was more a circle. Maybe passing around the bottle of Jaeger was not a good idea. Of course, I shouldn't have kept on passing it to myself Spot, that extra piece of carpet you have in the living room is comfortable, thanks for allowing me to crash. HYPOXIC
  21. We're going flocking, yeah!!!! flocking.... :-D I'm so going to regret that video... Ha, thx to all for a very fun boogie. I did my pseudo first wingsuit jump with Justin and Scotty Burns and had a blast. Next time I'll try not to geek the camera the whole time. And no my heart is not purple... The landings were dope, love the swoop lane and carving around that power box that Scotty introduced me to. Debi, Jack and Phil did a great job keeping everything running and wanted to thank them publicly. Spot it was so very nice to see you buddy even if it was only for a few hours. When you get better, we'll all fly together. Oh, and next year I can't wait to fly my canopy, or if I get good enough, wingsuit, through that copper canyon... Besides some weather holds, it was 100% Awesomeness... -Trunk HYPOXIC
  22. Josh send me your address and I can send you replacement housing out right away. The camcorder's AV /R connector consists of 10 conductors all soldered on a PCB board in about a 8mm area. It luckily has 2 bosses on either side that gives it some stability. With that said, constant torquing of that connector may cause one of those pins to loosen or as I have seen with the LANC jack, the circuit boards trace to crack. I think this is the nature of the beast with having something plugged into the camera while skydiving. It really needs as minimal as possible torque and pressure on it in freefall to prevent the vibration from damaging the port. Like wise, constant plugging and unplugging on the ground will have a lifespan on it. I have not seen sony publish any numbers on the amount of insertions and extractions from the AV /R connector before a failure but assume it to be around the 5,000 point. This was one of the main reasons for the debrief port; to reduce the number of times we have to plug and unplug the HYPEYE D PRO. I can theorize in your case either the leads inside the camcorders connector, or one of the pads inside the camcorder has gotten lifted and pressure is causing two pads to short. The way you wrote this post makes it sound like it is the camera causing the issue. However, if you find it is the HYPEYE D PRO cable, I can surely replace that for you for no charge. In summary, we are using a connector that is not necessarily made for our extreme environment. The HYPEYE D PRO is a great indicator and control solution using only what Sony has offered us. Send us an email at [email protected] and we will see if we can't isolate and hopefully fix the problem. HYPOXIC
  23. Pawel, lets exchange the unit, something is not right there. Please send us an email at [email protected] and we'll get you an replacement right away. HYPOXIC
  24. I'm not an expert on metering but did have my 50D constantly be +1 stop underexposed. Is your bite switch happen to be setup to constantly focus? Once the camera is set to focus, using the thumb rotator switch you can set it to increase or decrease the stop. I found I was in the plane trying to review a picture I had just taken but realized by bite switch was plugged in after I had already clicked the thumb switch. On the ground all the pictures was too dark. Try autofocusing on something and then using the thumb switch, you'll see the exposure meter change. Or it maybe something else. -Trunk HYPOXIC
  25. Can you drill a hole from the inside of the helmet through the box at the location the firewire is at? Then just pull up the lining to access the hole and stick in your cable. Add velcro to the inside shell to keep the lining seated since I believe Rawa glues in their liners. Firewire is quickly going away, I would not invest too much money into it. I'm surprised someone can do tooling for a 90 degree firewire connector for 60 bucks. That is hella cheap if its the case. -Trunk HYPOXIC
