  1. Depending I which dz you are looking to jump at I will be picking up rigs for a few jumpers at safety day in 2 weeks. I also know a Cinci rigger that I would recommend since I have done some rigging work with him in the past. Shoot me a pm if you need additional contacts if you would like me to get your rig in Middletown in 2 weeks Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com
  2. During a swoop competition a jumper made a low turn while attempting to swoop the pond and struck the ground at a high rate of speed.

  4. Instead look at OpenOffice, its free and outside of some very detailed things it will allow you to do almost everything Office will do. Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com
  5. I was hoping to go local for a supply of it to repair 3-4 Vectors and 1 Javelin and all they have is .031 and .060. They also only sell it in 24*48 inch sheets so its overkill for my needs. Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com
  6. At 115 lbs you should still be looking for a 150-160 reserve. Your exit weight is 140 and if you are that still you might be needing to add lead to fly RW with people and if that is the case then your loading will be going even higher. 9. The newest Ultimate Switch has adjustable levels for the trigging of the blow switch. I hated mine at first since I would almost pass out trying to take pictures in a burst. Once I dialed it down a lot I had to avoid breathing since it was so sensitive. I've since put it where its perfect for me but having it adjustable is a nice feature. I went though 6 tongue and 4 bite switches in around 1100 video jumps. I hated finding out that on jump run the bite was now shorting out and not working or the tongue had a broken seal and was letting moisture get in and now it was not working. I always carried spare switches but I don't worry anymore on my blow switch. Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com
  10. Rob, there really is no way to cleanly do that. I am looking forward to seeing bartack options... Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com
  11. In reality a Coach as the program is set today is not entrusted with any aspect of safety except not colliding with the student. A Coach is not to pull for a student and is only to stick with a student until the break off hard deck and not anything more. The coach only has limited hand signals and is not to take harness grips or attempt any recovery activities. The coach is not much more than a reference point in the air for the student to fly around. All the coaches work comes in the prep for the jump and in the debriefing. 12. It depends on your inseam length. A C19 was tight on me at 6'2" 185 lbs and I needed a C-20. Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com
  13. So far I have found the feed dogs were crooked and were hitting the needle plate in once corner. Then I found the timing was slightly off. Then I found the feed dogs were not centered. Next I adjusted the position of the feed dogs for front to back and I can't turn the machine by hand so its clear I have misadjusted something so its back to scratch... These things are complicated to get tuned right. Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com
  14. I'm playing with a new to me 20u machine and I've noticed when i take the stitch length to the max the machine locks and will not move until I adjust the length to a smaller option or I hit the reverse and i can feel it pop back and it lets me move by hand to the same spot next rotation and it locks again. I'm also noticing on the reverse handle is vibrating really bad when I have the length set much above 3 or so. Doe anyone know of any servicing manuals or something that I could read to educate myself more on this machine and what the proper timing on everything should be to eliminate this issue? 15. I rode most the non-discount carriers last year and I enjoy American but part of that is my status on the airline. For the most part they all suck to a large degree. JetBlue is nice but only for the TV's. They have limited options. Southwest has more options but it is also really hard to get cheap flights at the last minute on here since it sells out months in advance for most popular routes. I prefer American but its only marginally better than British Airways so if you are avoiding them... United canceled a flight on me a few weeks ago 24 hours in advance. On looking it was really light so they just canceled it and booked me for a flight 7 hours later. That annoyed me a lot. Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com

  17. I have ordered from these guys before and the mini cones are nice sized. The color chart is off so you might want to confirm the color prior t o making large orders since the "canary" was not much different than a beige color which is not what I thought it would be. 18. I would love to know what is the "huge conflict of interest" that the moderators have. For the most part we try to have minimal influence on the topical forums to allow discussion to continue but when topics are driven off course or are being used to push agendas we will step in to make sure things are put back on track. The only forum that has an exception to this is INcidents where we will remove posts for much less serious infractions to keep that one more focused. The current version of the software that powers these forums does not allow for any ability to opt in for removed posts. In fact most of the removed posts are moved to their own forum that is not accessible to avoid cluttering the active threads. Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com
  19. I did this years ago with a bullet cam hooked up to a recording deck in a fanny pack. If you want to do it that way I found it got better results if you can secure it to the line instead of having it hag off the line. In the bullet cam I was able to attach it at 3 spots and put it at the backside of the line and the video only had minor shake to it. 20. FAA will forbid you from getting a Class 3 if you have bad multiple substance/alcahol convictions on your record. Typically this is in the form of DUI's but I've seen discussion on pilot forums of multiple narcotic arrests as being grounds for the FAA denying a physical at renewal time unless the person has been through a flight psych program to clear them on these types of issues. Does the DOT do the same thing where if you have multiple DUI convictions they will not grant you a physical? Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com
  21. I'm sitting on about 300k miles right now and it looks like this year will be another 125k-175k+ on account so I'm not overly worried about burning off the miles. I've flown 15,000 this year already by the time this weekend is over. I'm on the taller side so the leg room and the lay down seats are really appealing in the new 777's. I'm not really sitting on that many hotel points so I might only be able to get 1 or 2 free nights so that's not really too big of a concern. June - August is the only window due to schedules since my wife is a teacher and gets the summers off and taking other time off is not really possible. I had forgot about the Olympics in London this year, that eliminates England but makes the rest of Europe an option still. Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com
  22. So I am sitting with enough frequent flyer miles to go anywhere in the world in business/first class we want for a vacation and we are bouncidng around some ideas but I was wondering if anyone had some suggestions for great places to visitinI the middle of June or so. I am considering a trip to China, Japan, or even a few weeks in Europe but nothing is decided and we are wanting to consider all great options. So where would you go for a week or two if only hotel expenses and food needed to be considered? Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com
  23. All major paragliding harnesses are constructed and tested to a standard, usually LTF 91/09 since that is the newest standard. This is a well documented standard similar to TSO standards. The webbing and materials used are well defined and they do testing up to +35G's in some of the tests. There is no way I would go to a local craft store and buy random nylon webbing to use as risers. I can't tell but were any wear bands put under the RW8 ring to prevent the metal on nylon from wearing at the materials? Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com
  24. So you are using unrated webbing that is made out of unknown materials with an unknown breaking limit in a critical lifesaving function? The polyester thread is rated to what strength? I am not seeing anything in the assembly that would be too bad if it was done with the appropriate materials. Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com
  25. It took me jumping through some hoops but I got my hands on some of Skylarks rigging bags and a gear bag. I was really impressed with the workmanship in the gear but the import cost and the shipping were as much as the gear was and the discount was all but eliminated on those items. If I was able to do larger orders it might have been worth it but its something you need to consider. Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com
