  1. That worked. Thanks Jaap. I'd rather be watching it on the TV, but it's a kick ass video even on the computer screen.
  2. WTF? Am I the only one that bought this thing and can't watch it? I've tried it in 3 DVD players, a Roadstor, a laptop, and a desktop computer. None of my stuff will play this PAL DVD. Has anyone had any success converting it to NTSC? If anybody out there can play PAL dvds and has ANY decent NTSC videos (skydiving, base or porn) that they'd trade for my PAL copy of Superterminal please PM me. Thanks.
  3. Get married. If you're anything like my wife it will solve the problem. Once you're married you won't want sex anymore either.
  4. See my bolding - jumpers, you are equally as responsible as the pilot under the FARs, unless I'm reading this completely wrong. Jumpers outside the U.S. - obviously, this won't apply to you. The rules say that, but what are they going to do to a sport jumper for busting clouds? Pull his USPA "license"? Seems to me that the pilot is the only one that has anything real to lose. Or can the FAA slap you with fines or something?
  5. I just got a legit copy of it, but it's in PAL. Apparently that's all they printed. None of my DVD players will play it. Anybody got an NTSC version they would trade?
  6. I kind of know what you're saying. I've seen a lot of shady stuff in the relatively short time I've been around. One time the pilots side door fell off this guys plane so they patched it up with plywood. The windshield poppped out on final and they crashed it a little while later. Another guy refused to buy fuel from the airport manager, so he used to keep a dozen or so big plastic drums full of av gas hidden in his hangar. He'd make trips back and forth all week long to another airport filling up a homemade tank he had built into the back of his pick up truck and cart the fuel back home to his barrels so he wouldn't have to fly there during the weekend and wouldn't have to buy fuel from the enemy. Unapproved containers in an unventilated hangar... It's amazing nobody got blown up. So yeah, I'd say a lot of stuff goes on that isn't very cool, but most of the stuff you're bitching about doesn't really seem safety related. Who cares if some guy is ho'ing out his old lady out of his tent? More power to him! at least he's not ripping people off or something. Same with the drug dealers. I'd rather have them out there selling rocks or buds or whatever than have them breaking into cars in the parking lot. As far as the party supplies at the dz, it doesn't seem like we have that big of a problem with it just from reading over the incident reports. I can probably count on my fingers how many incidents I've heard of that were proven to be related to drugs or alcohol. We just don't have crackheads pounding in all over the place every weekend. As far as chicks getting raped at your dz.. Shame on you for not doing anything about it. I don't care how young you were. If the cops wouldn't do anything you should have got some of your boys together and taken care of that shit.
  7. That's a pretty cool idea. Is this something the DZ offers up front along with regular video and stills or are you offering it to the customers after they have already decided weather or not to get freefall shots? Does the DZ take a cut?
  8. Never mind. I get it now.... Duh..
  9. I still don't get it. The picture changes each time. How does it know what picture to change it to? I just did it 10 times in a row. It was right 10 out of 10.
  10. http://trunks.secondfoundation.org/files/psychic.swf Try this. I'm sure there's a simple explanation for why it works, but I can't figure it out.
  11. Hey how long does it really take? I use this Roadstor These go for about $90 on ebay, but it takes around 12 minutes to burn 60 or 70 large/fine jpegs from a sandisk ultra III 512M card. Is the Alera really that much faster?
  12. I jumped one like that for a while. There was nothing wrong with it aside from looking ridiculous. I can't tell any difference between the videos I shot with that compared to my ftp. Velocityphoto was kind enough to send me the top plate for the cost of shipping. I'm not using it anymore. If you want it, I'll make the same deal. Let me know. Here's a picture of it on my protec. http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?do=post_attachment;postatt_id=44111;
  13. Or just put it on the little green box and it will take care of all that stuff for you. I just did what you said. It's sunny out. I took a pic out my back door on TV 500 and again on Auto. The differences are very very minor (at least on the computer. I didn't print them). If anything I'd say the one on full auto has better color. On Auto it picked 500 for shutter speed also. but the aperture on Auto was at 16 and on TV it was 10. The iso on TV500 was 200 and on the green square it picked iso400. That's an awful lot of variables to think about for the little tiny bit of difference in the pics. And like I said, if one is better I think it's the one taken on full-auto. I guess that's why we spend all that money on technology. Thanks to the good folks at Canon you don't have to be a photographer to take nice pics. Even a regular skydiver like me can do it. In fact, as I look at these 2 pics it makes me wonder why I spent all that time reading about all this AV/TV/ISO.... I could have saved the limited free space in my brain for something useful like porn and stuff.
  14. I shoot auto-everything on my xt. I've read about and experimented with all that av/tv/hyperfocal/... shit, but after 2 years with this camera it still takes its best pics when I let it figure all that out for itself.
  15. I met a guy in Rantoul last year that said they train their students to do a barrel roll if they have a pc in tow. He says they've trained hundreds of students like that and was surprised that I'd never heard of it. Intentionally wrapping your self up in your bridle seems like a pretty bad idea to me even for someone with some experience. I couldn't believe there are actually dzs that train their student this way. Anybody else ever heard of this?
  16. My middle name is Nelson. First name is Anthony. I was named after that guy on "I dream of Jeanie".
  17. Yup. Actually, both places pro pack but I never saw a line over on a set400.
  18. I started on Set 400s in 2003 and did about 400 jumps on them. I moved to a new dz about half way through last season that uses ez384s and Sigmas. I like the way both of these canopies fly and flare more than the set 400. I like the Sigma best. On the other hand I saw more lineovers in the last half of last season than in the previous 3 years combined.
  19. We get $50 for VHS+stills or $65 for DVD+stills. No difference between film or digital pics.
  20. See that? It doesn't bother me a bit. If I wasn't a skydiver I'd probably be offended by that. Even if it was only coming from the guy that nobody likes anyways.
  21. I work for the phone company. I go around to different businesses all day trying to get people to switch their phone service. I get told to fuck off more times in a normal week than most people get in a year. I'm not sure how, but I think skydiving helps me deal with it.
  22. I'm sure someone else already said it, but... How you doin... I probably would never get around to mailing a check, but if you have a paypal account set up for donations I'd throw a few bucks your way. Good luck with the healing and with the baby...
