I used to get $60/jump when I was jumping a handcam. Now, I'm jumping at an "Anti-Handcam" DZ so I'm back to $30.

Isn't it the air bubbles in the foam that cause the liner to swell up at altitude? It seems like baking it and getting the air bubbles out would stop that from happening so much and not baking them would make it worse. Am I wrong? I think I might just let it ride up and down in the plane by itself for a couple weekends. Think that will help at all? If it fit at altitude the same as it does on the ground, it would be an awesome helmet.

Thanks for the warning. I've heard some of the stories about these guys, but all things considered, it seems like a small price to pay.

I called bonehead and they told me the same thing. They said it would take a few jumps to break in. I've put almost a hundred on it so far and it hasn't changed at all. I baked the liner when I first got it. I might try it again to see if it helps. Vectracide-- It could be. I'm well known around here for my "swelling head"

Mine isn't. Mine sucks. It fits fine on the ground, but at altitude the liner swells up and it squeezes my head so tight that I can hear my pulse beating in my ears. I hate it. A waste of $800 if you ask me. I wish I kept my protec.

Whose fault is it then? Maybe it's nobody's fault. Maybe times are changing and the people that care more about how things are written rather than what is actually being said are becoming the minority? If this keeps up, no one will be sure what perfect English is. Then people won't be able to judge us by who talks good and who don't.

I don't think it's fair to equate poor grammar to "sloppy thinking". I definitely don't see how you can infer from someone's writing the quality of their critical thinking skills and attention to details in other areas. If my car is a messy, rusty, dirty piece of shit, do you assume that my skydiving gear is in the same condition. If I don't take care of my car, why would I care about anything else? IMO, people's opinions should not be judged by the quality of the grammar used to express it, but by the substance of the opinion itself.

Look at the emails in J0nes' post. They are riddled with grammatical and spelling errors, but they still effectively communicated the supervisors thoughts. I seems to me that the only reason for worrying about using perfect English is so that we aren't "viewed as uneducated". There are other subjects that can make a bigger difference in the world than how we're viewed by other people.

It's not perfect, but I'll bet the guy's subordinates all understood what he wanted from them.

I agree with you completely, but when Wartload said I'm sure anybody who read it knew exactly what he meant. He may have written "of coarse" instead of "of course" and "loosers" instead of "losers", but we all still got his point. We can accurately understand each other without perfect grammer or spelling. You're right. Math and Science communication needs to be more specific. That's why schools should focus more on those subjects than English.

Why do people even think about stuff like that? I think grammer and spelling is a bunch of bullshit anyway. It probably shouldn't even be taught in schools past the 5th grade. Wouldn't our kids' time in school be better spent learning math and science? Are any of the world's problems going to be solved by nitpicking spelling and grammer? What does it matter? As long as we can understand each other, who cares? I'd rather have my kids focus on subjects that can make a difference in the world instead of worrying about "I before E" or weather or not there should be an apostrophe in "your". just my $.02

I'm trying to quit too. I figure it'll be easiest to quit a little at a time. First I didn't smoke on mondays, then after a few weeks I quit on tuesdays too. Now I only smoke on weekends. It's been about 4 months since I smoked on a weekday. I tried to quit Saturdays, but it's tough being at the dz. I need a smoke after jumping. I can't make myself pack without smoking first. The weather is turning to crap now though, so I won't be jumping for a while. I should have it beat by spring. Good luck with it.

I did a search on doppler in here and didn't come up with much. Does anyone know how dangerous it is? How close can I safely get to the big ball? One guy said he went up by it and woke up the next day with headaches and some scabs behind his ears. Could it have anything to do with the doppler? Thanks for any info.

Just curious, What are the requirements for a Tandem Examiner Rating?

I use a RoadStor It takes about 5 minutes to burn a jump from my xt, but I only paid about $50 for it on ebay.

I think it's fair to the guy she decides to make this deal with, but what about the rest of the guys she's dating. Does she tell them she can only sleep with one person at a time and it's not going to be them? To be fair to the rest, she should. But then who would want to date her? Unless blowjobs don't count. I guess it depends on her definition of "sleep with".
