Mine is a frame grab from my first jump with my riggerrob handcam glove. The second pic is from the same camera on a jump a couple days later. It think I'm going to make it my new avatar.

Demo a Blade from HiPer. Beezy gives out free demos so you have nothing to lose. If you do I'll bet ya buy it though. I wasn't even in the market for a new main when I did it. My Stiletto was being relined and I wanted something to jump while it was out so I took the free demo. I knew after the first jump on it that I was going to buy it. The openings are awesome and it's fun as hell to fly.

Hey Matt-- Are you going this year? One of Cridler's rigs would work great except he's a foot shorter and 60 pounds lighter than me. None of his stuff will fit me. JaapSuter is hooking me up though. Thanks Jaap!

We have 3 old ones and 1 new one. I hate the new one. Especially on big students. They always end up hanging way low and you can't lift them up. If I want to lift them up higher on the old style ones , it's easy to just have them stand up on my feet and lift them up higher. It doesn't work so well on the new one. We were wondering this weekend if Strong would take it on a trade for an older one.

Man, I must really suck at this. I've got about 40 jumps on my classic 2 and I've never gotten my protrack to say anything under 70mph avg. I guess it's no surprise since I'm trying to learn how to do it on the internet. There aren't any BMIs around here and there aren't even any other wingsuits at my DZ. I'm sure I'm doing something wrong, but it will be tough to figure out what it is. Oh well, who cares as long as I'm having fun right? I'm 5'11" and 210 with gear. Should I be able to do better than that or is this about right for my size and experience with a classic 2?

Wow. You're ruthless dude. That was one of my first tandems. I felt so bad that I almost quit doing them after that. Now, when I look back on it, I just think to myself "I told that dumbass to pick up his feet". I guess it's too bad for you that I wasn't doing handcam back then. You guys could have said I was distracted by the camera or something. That would have made great ammunition for you handcam-haters...

Hey DaveP. I don't know if you could really say we get along. In fact, I think the only reason you put up with me having it out there is because of the shots like this that I get with it.

It sounds to me like you have made up your mind about handcams, but here's what I think anyways. I'm not sure what kind of "problem student" you're thinking of, but normally once the drouge is out their handcam video will be fine. And most outside video guys that I've jumped with can't get shit for video until the drouge is out either. If it takes the whole skydive to get it out, at least with handcam they'll have video of their canopy flight. You're right though. When I'm having trouble with one, the handcam is the last thing on my mind. I'd say that if staying alive requires 100% of your attention then yes you should devote 100% of your attention to just that. Handcams aren't for everybody. Sometime when I can get up to Fremont I'll let you try mine out. That way you can at least have an educated opinion on it. I might even ride bitch for you on the first one. But if I do I'm flaring the canopy. I've seen you land too many times

Well, if you're sure you want to sell your soul and ruin your dropzone, you could ask riggerrob to make you one He did mine for $180. I've only had it for a month or so and its paid for it's self over and over already. Plus it's a cool as hell toy. I wear it on all kinds of jumps freeflying, wingsuit...coach jumps...even outside video jumps. Sometimes the video sucks but sometimes you get some pretty cool shit. I had some nasty spinning line twists last weekend that made for some pretty interesting video. Handcams rock. Actually, it sounds like velocityphoto has more of a problem with someone being a dickhead than with handcams. Hope it works out for you over there man..

I have a .25 from waycool and you can only zoom in a couple notches or it gets all blurry. Also, you can't focus at infinity with it. Diamond lens may be different though.

I think you guys that are saying handcam video sucks just haven't seen good handcam video. With the right lens you can do a damn nice job. And after opening...... The last thing in the world I want to do is get rid of the video guys so I've been charging the same as outside video. I'm only taking about 15% of the videos. I've sold a lot more of them as add-ons to outside video for $29 than as a replacement for it at $59. That's the way I push it in class though cuz the vidiots are my friends. The real niche for this thing is on the ones that don't want video at all. I've sold almost every single one of those. Even if I only get half price for it (and I usually get more), I still double my pay for the jump. These things are here to stay, but I don't see it ever replacing the videographer. In fact, I believe this so much that I just bought a new FTP

Anybody have them? Are they any good? I need something to wear on Tandems. Think they'll hold up for a few jumps sliding in on my ass? The $75 price sounds good....

[replyI just PAUSE the target VCR until I past the boring stuff, then resume recording. When I tried to do that I hit pause on the vcr and the cd player at the same time so I could fast forward then tried to start them at the same time again. It came out like shit. I guess I'll have to fade the music out all the way before I do it.

All I can do with our editing stuff is add music and slowmo. I can fade between different audio inputs, but there's only one video input. Any transitions or anything like that has to come from the camera while I'm videoing. I'm used to shooting only what I want on the video.
