  1. It's even worse than email spam. It just started about 3 weeks ago. I work out of a home office and nothing pisses me off more than those fuckers wasting my ink and paper. I get advertisements for everything from insurance to material handling equipment. I've tried faxing them back requesting to be taken off their list. Nobody answers the number the fax says to call to be removed from the list. How do I get them to stop?
  2. Has anyone around here ever heard of Bioperformance pills? I guess you put them in your gas tank and you're supposed to get 25% better mileage. My wife wants me to go to a meeting about it next week. Whenever I have to go to a meeting to find out about something it usually ends up being some kind of bullshit multilevel marketing scam. Is it even possible that this stuff really works?
  3. If they were behind schedule when I ordered mine in February, and they knew they were behind schedule, why were they still quoting 8 weeks? If they had said 14 or 16 weeks I still would have ordered it, but I would have held on to my old helmet to get me through the first part of the season. If they would have even told me after 8 weeks that it was going to be another month or so it would have helped (instead of saying "it should ship this week"). I could have picked up something used in the classifieds to get me by for a few weekends. Because they weren't up front about their delivery times, I've missed out on a whole bunch of jumps already this season at $50/jump. If it's not here this weekend it will easily cost me another $500. This helmet is coming close to being the most expensive piece of skydiving gear I've ever bought. I just hope it's as nice a helmet as everyone on here says they are. I know none of this is personally your fault, Miami. I understand that you're just passing on to me what they tell you, but it still sucks. Tony
  4. I wouldn't count on it. I ordered an FF2 3 months ago. I finally got a tracking number today, but it doesn't work so I'm not holding my breath. It sounds like I should have ordered an FFX
  5. Do you think so? I'm sure it's still a distraction, but I think it would be easier to keep it in frame for a few seconds at a time than to keep it in frame the whole time.
  6. Does anyone use a glove for a still camera? I think it would be something cool to have. It seems like there would be less safety concerns with stills than with video. The dzo at one of the places I jump is dead set against HC video because he's convinced that sooner or later student will freak out and grab onto the camera and all kinds of bad things will happen. I figure with stills, since you don't have to keep it in frame the whole time, you can exit normally and get the drogue out do your handles checks and not even put the camera in front of them until your satisfied that the jump is going to go ok. You could take some pictures and then forget about it again during deployment and then take some more shots under canopy. I've seen some pretty small cameras out there, but I don't know if any of them would have a wide enough field of view. I would also need something that could take a remote so I could run my tongue switch down my sleeve to it. Does anyone know of a camera that might work for this? I don't really want to use an slr. I guess my rebel xt would work if the glove was built right, but I'm thinking more of a small 3MP digital or something. Maybe even film like an elph or something if it's got a wide enough lens. Anybody got any ideas? Thanks for any replies...
  7. I used to have an older Sony camera that you could change tapes and batteries on while top mounted. I think it was a PC7.
  8. I cut away from a broken steering line on jump 64. If I had it to do over again I would land it instead.
  9. Well, it looks like Garmin is the way to go. The Bluetooth on the go700 looks cool, but I don't think it's worth the extra $150, especially if the gps part of it isn't as good. I ended up buying the Garmin Streetpilot c340. I got it for $525 new on ebay. Thanks for all the advice.. edited to fix link
  10. I want to buy a GPS for my car. I think I have my search narrowed down to 2 models. The TomTom go700 and the Garmin c340. Has anyone had experience with either of these? Is there anything else I should look at in the same price ($600) range? Thanks for any help... Tony
  11. Thanks Rob. I appreciate it. Especially since you're the one who got me into that mess. I really do like the handcam glove though. It's a lot of fun for other stuff besides tandems too.
  12. I love my handcam, but it's caused me a lot of problems. When I first got it the dzo said to charge whatever I wanted, but he made $10 profit off of outside video and he wanted the same from the handcam videos. So, out of fairness to the vidiots, I decided to charge the same price as for OS video thinking I wouldn't take as much work from them. After seeing examples of both, most of the people wanted the handcam video anyways. So I ended up busy as hell making like $90/jump. The dzo got pissed when he found out how much $ I was pulling out of there and the vidiots were pissed because I was taking all the work. In the end I made a whole bunch of money, but I pissed off some people. I ended up having to find a new dz. The only other dz around here that is handcam friendly is a Skyride dz and I've decided to stay out of that so I don't really have anyplace to use it anymore.

Thanks man. And thanks to you and Victor for a fun night out. Mike and I both had a great time. You guys have a sweet playground over there. I can't wait to visit again. Tony
  14. I know I had a blast that day. It was definitely one of the highlights of my vacation. Both of those chicks are absolutely amazing. I really hope for the chance to jump with those guys again sometime. Thanks for the incredible experience Jimmy. And thanks for the kick ass pics Chris. Tony
  15. I voted inexperienced with no object strikes. 17 jumps. All Spans but 1 A and 1 E. So far so good. I have a question. 32 people voted "I freefalled the object that I had a strike on." Only 2 people voted "I did not freefall the object that I had a strike on." Is this because you are less likely to have an off heading opening with a PCA or SL? Or is it just because most jumps are freefall?
  16. I won't get another Sony lens. I had one before and it was so heavy that the front end of my trv11 fell apart after 1 season with it. The Sony lens I had was quite a bit heavier than the kenko I use now.
  17. Hmm, never had that... Does it taste like sauerkraut? Nope. It's hot and you eat it on rice.
  18. Hi. I just took Tom's class a couple weeks ago and I'd like to go back there sometime very soon. If anyone is going there and would be willing to split the cost of a car and hotel I would like to hear from you. Dates are totally flexible for me, but a weekend would be best. Thank you, [email protected]
  19. You have the student loosen side straps?
  20. I think it just depends on how wide you want to go. It's when you want to go really wide and not have black corners that you have to spend some money. I use a waycool .25 that's really nice, but it cost a couple hundred dollars. For less wide lenses the cheaper ones seem to work fine for me. I use a kenko .5 for tandem videos and haven't had any problems. It's not low profile, but it cost about 1/10th of what the waycool lens did.
  21. My pc105 does that sometimes. The only time I really see it as a problem is when its a handcam video.
  22. 4 of us from Michigan are going to be there Tuesday. See you there.
