  1. The pc109 has a wider view than the 105. The 109 is the best camera I've seen for handcam.
  2. 36 I did BD '03, 04, & 05, but I guess I didn't really start base jumping until this year. So, 1.
  3. Are you talking about a handcam glove for tandems? I use a waycool .25 and a pc105. The black eye .25 is a really nice lens. I've seen people do it with a royal .3 and it looked ok, but I thought the .25 was worth the extra money.
  4. Here's another one. http://www.xtremebase.com/Expedicion%20English.htm#included%20expedition
  5. Sweet! Thanks guys. I took out the memory stick and it works fine again.
  6. Everything on my camera is Japanese. I dropped it. Now when I turn it on I get this message. Can anyone translate it? Thanks
  7. We get $30/tandem and $10 for packing. I was making double that when I was doing handcam, but none of the DZs around here will let me jump it anymore because it pisses off the vidiots. There's no skydivers union in the US, and if there was I wouldn't have anything to do with it.
  8. Really? I would have guessed the opposite. Everywhere I've jumped, the student gets a ripcord and the chance to pull. You're right though. There have been a few times (under an open canopy at 10,000 ft.) that I wished they didn't have a handle. Isn't that one of Strong's rules though? They have to have a ripcord and an alti and be trained on their use?
  9. Check out riggerrob on here. I love my riggerrob glove.
  10. Yup. I'm speaking as a Tandem Master and fat dude. And guess what, if it costs more for me to do something than a 135 pounder, then charge me more. I don't have a problem with fat people. I have a problem with your idea that people shouldn't be responsible for their own ass. I'm not going to respond to all this since it's clear we'll never agree, but I will add a couple more things: We are a 182 dz as well. And these 215 pounders you mentioned are considered "medium size" around here.
  11. Got mine today. Definitely one of my favorites from this year. Good work! You could have put out a little warning about that last song though. You should have heard me trying to explain that one to my 12 yr old.....well honey, this video came from one of those "Canadian" jumpers... Thanks again,
  12. Dude, you seem to feel pretty strongly about this. Did you used to be fat? I don't see any problem with a fat tax. If you're fat, it costs more to make the jump and it's more work for the TI. Why shouldn't you pay your fair share? Is it society's fault they're fat so we should all pay the same? I don't believe everyone should be treated as equals unless they are. I take most of our heavies. I've worked with some guys that won't take them because of their own size or abilities and some that won't just because they're lazy fucks and they know I'll do it if no one else will. Why should they make the same money as those of us that will put forth the extra effort? (and it DOES take some extra effort!) What if we stopped calling it a "Fat Tax"? Would a "discount for lightweights" be more acceptable? We wouldn't want to hurt anyone's feelings, right?

    Base vacation

Thanks for the thoughts. If they do it again in '07, I think I'll try to get in on this trip. It's a little more money than I wanted to spend and for only one jump, but it sounds like a very cool trip.

    Base vacation

I want to plan a vacation for '07 so where would you go if you were coming out of the US and really wanted to jump tall cliffs and you had zero big wall experience, about 50 base jumps (all slider down), $5K in your pocket, and 10 vacation days to burn?
  15. I took an fjc in March. I've made 40 base jumps and about 250 skydives this year. Mostly tandems though, probably less than 100 fun jumps.
  16. Why do you recommend a second machine for straight stitch? Can't you straight stitch with the zigzag machine too? See you in January, Tony
  17. Is anyone planning on going to DeWolf's course in Jan.? I'm hoping to find someone interested in splitting a car and/or hotel. I'm flying into BWI on 1/5.
  18. I have the Yardage Pro Scout. I've been very happy with it. Very light and compact. The only problem with it is there's no backlight so it's kind of a pain in the ass to use in the dark.

    What's on this A?

Yup. 350ft., but it looks alot bigger because of how wide it is. This thing is huge. What would the energy feel like if it's on?

    What's on this A?

Hell ya dude. I'd love to have you out here. You're welcome to crash at my place.

    What's on this A?

We found another interesting tower around here. Anyone know what it is? Anything we need to stay away from up there? Thanks again, Tony
  23. I was thinking more along the lines of the single harness dual parachute requirement. Does it still apply given the aircraft and altitude? I'm just wondering if I'd be able to use it at the airport or if I'd need to find some private land. It looks like fun.
  24. Would you have to worry about FARs jumping from a powered parachute at 300 ft?
  25. Dude those are some scary pictures, but I don't think there's anything wrong with the current requirements for a tandem rating. The progession you described is almost exactly what I did and you won't see me flying around like that. Those pics don't show anything that more jumps or more experience coaching students would fix. It looks to me like those guys just don't give a fuck and I doubt another 500 jumps coaching aff grads will help. Maybe they should look a little closer at the person who taught them to do tandems and gave them the rating? There are some people who will suck at tandems no matter how many jumps they have, but for most of us I think 500 Freefly jumps is plenty of experience to start doing tandems. In fact I'd say most people could probably do it with less. It's just not that hard.
