  1. I've been wingsuiting with my Blade 108 loaded at 2.0. I'm pretty sure I'll have to chop it at some point if I keep doing it, but it's my favorite canopy and I hate leaving it on the ground all the time. I've never jumped a Katana, but I can't imagine why it would be a big deal as long as you're not afraid of a reserve ride.
  2. Thanks for posting that. It says I need to have "attended a USPA Instructor seminar within the previous 12 months". What's an Instructor Seminar? I don't see anything about it on the USPA website.
  3. I'm not Mexican anymore. I'm Hawiacanese.
  4. I get into Tampa at 11:30AM on Thursday. If anyone is arriving around the same time and wants to share the ride to zhills, let me know..
  5. Nick told me he expects it to take a while to catch on in the US. He did say there are some guys in South America that are very excited about it though. I think we should reserve judgement until we at least see what he comes up with. I know the dude is nuts, but that doesn't automatically mean he doesn't have some good ideas. As far as how the suit works, I just posted the way Nick described it to me in the wingsuit forum if you're interested.
  6. If I understand Nick right, the wings will be the same size as the Flockus and RM. The legwing will have separate channels built in front for the students legs. There will be zippers on the front of them so the student can get in after the TM and zip up. The front of the student leg channels will be the same 420 parapack as the rest of the suit, and the back will be Spandex to accomodate different size legs. The arm wings will have 2 sets of handles. The regular handles and another set on the inside. Only the TMs arms will be inside the arm wings. The student can fly with their arms in or they can bring them out and "help". He said EG will be starting on the prototype in the next couple weeks. I'd like to try it with another skydiver before I decide for myself that it's stupid or crazy.
  7. I didn't know if this belongs in Wingsuits or Instructors so I put it in both. Do you think Nick has finally smoked himself retarded? If it works out the way he says it will, this is actually going to be pretty cool. http://www.egwingsuits.com/tandus.htm
  8. Check this out. http://www.egwingsuits.com/tandus.htm
  9. Everyone at our dz used to do 2 front flips and then tap them to start arching. I videod them doing that for about 3 years and I did my first few hundred like that. Then all the experienced guys left and I read on here that you shouldn't do flips so I started going out flat and stable. Now I'm starting to think it doesn't really matter much. I leave it up to the student. If they want to do flips, I'm not afraid. I tell them that if they are going to pursue it they'll learn more if we work on a stable exit. And I tell them about all of the things I can teach them like freefall turns and forward movement and the correct way to wave off and pull... And I explain the S/L program to them and tell them about our $99 second jump deal becase I really want most of them to come back. But it's their money. If a dude knows he's only going to do it once and just wants video of himself doing flips out of a plane, I'm happy to show him a good time doing it.
  10. I agree with everything you said except that. The reality is, if the USPA thinks they can pull a bunch of money out of the skydiver's pockets for a new rating, they'll be all over it. With all of the "big names" that are pushing for it, it's only a matter of time.
  11. He was probably talking to me. I was bitchin. I agree that the review is a good idea, and there are some other good points on here, but the fact that I'm doing tandems fine right now and they're telling me that next year I "can't" unless I pay them and they say I can gives me a "fuck them" attitude. Maybe they really will make a 500 jump min for vidiots. That would open up some slots in the video rotation so I could make up the jumps doing that since I won't be "qualified" to do tandems anymore.
  12. At first glance, I think it sucks. I've been doing tandems safely for almost 5 years. Now all of a sudden I have to jump through a bunch of hoops and pay for more ratings in order to keep doing it? I don't even really want to be an instructor. I just like having fun jumping with the wuffos. What will be involved in getting the uspa rating for someone like me? My coach rating hasn't been current since 03. Do I need to take the coach course again before I get the USPA I rating? Will I need to go find a TI Examiner for this rating? How many eval jumps are involved? Or is it just a written test?
  13. Just got my tickets. See you there!
  14. Yeah, I had my RM out there at the Heliboogie. I had a blast with it. I probably don't have enough experience to write a proper review of it though. They were my first ws base flights and that is the only suit I've base jumped so I have a very limited frame of reference. I only did 9 jumps with it. Most of them were solos and I was way more concerned with not fucking it up than getting max performance. You definitely can't judge the suit based on my performance in it. I saw some AMAZING flying out there. I was hoping to see someone with some real skills fly the RM, but no one wanted to try it. I tried to get Robi to jump it, but he was afraid someone would take his picture and he'd end up in one of Nick's ads.
  15. I have one for "The System" from GQ. I don't know if it's the one you're looking for. I'll email it to you.
  16. That sucks. You guys put it right before Bridgeday. My wife is going to be pissed if I try to go on two trips in a row like that. See you down there...
  17. Has anyone here seen a Gemsy 20u? How similar is it to a Singer 20u? http://www.sewingmachinesmart.com/servlet/Detail?no=15 $325 for a new machine with a table and motor seems too good to be true.
  18. So my flight gets in to SVG on Saturday at 11:30 AM. I just found out the next boat doesn't leave until Sunday at 10:00. Anybody know if there is another way to get to Lysebotn on a Saturday? Anyone else stuck in Stavanger on Saturday and want to split a room? Thanks, Tony
  19. I'm bringing the RM. I bought it just for this trip because I wasn't comfortable base jumping my M1 or my Eagle.
  20. I have a Rigor Mortis and a Mach1. If I had to guess, I'd say I would go farther in the RM. I think I get slower fall rates in the M1, but the RM seems to go faster. I don't have any numbers to back any of that up, it's just what it seems like. And of course even if I did have numbers to back it up, it would only reflect the way I fly these suits. They're both pretty bad ass wingsuits and I wouldn't trade either one. edit to add Oh yeah, Kris, I think your RM showed up today. I'll bring it with me on Friday.
  21. It doesn't look like I'm going to make it to Skyfest this year. Are any of you Texas guys going to come up to Summerfest?
  22. Who's going to Skydive Chicago's Summerfest boogie? Anybody know which companies are bringing demo suits or who's organizing flocks this year?
