  1. I don't think it's unreasonable for a guy at your level to jump a tracking suit. One time a guy showed up at our dz with 45 jumps and a Prodigy. He flew it fine. I'm not saying everybody just off student status should be jumping these things, but it worked out for that guy. If your dz doesn't care and you think you can do it, then go do it. You should check out the Corvus from EG Suits though. It's a pretty slick set up and it costs a couple hundred dollars less than the Impact. Have fun, don't die...
  2. Why do we trap the inside c & d lines? It seems like if something was going to get around the nose it would be one of the outside lines.
  3. Flock Yeah! I had a great time flying with you guys. Thanks again for a great weekend! I got some good experience and met some really cool people. I'm glad that zipper thing worked out. I would have been screwed.. I don't think I would have been able to get the Mach 1 back from Jose. He made some huge progress in it. I don't think I've ever seen anyone improve that much over one weekend. I think almost all of us improved some though. The flocks seemed way tighter at the end of the camp than they were at the beginning. A couple of us also got to do some wingsuit balloon jumps too. Even though it was a solo, that was one of my favorite wingsuit jumps ever. All in all, it was a great weekend. If you guys do it again next year, I'll definitely be back.
  4. Well I put my first bunch of jumps on it this weekend at Scott's camp so I thought I'd post my first impressions here. The suit is built like a tank. The quality of the construction is up there with the best of them. It's made mostly out of thick parapack. They use some really thick Cuben Fiber fabric for the ribs. The booties are made out of nice thick leather. Everything about it is heavy duty. EG did one hell of a job on it. There were a few things I didn't like about it. At first the fit was WAY too tight. A lot of it is probably because of the thick materials. It took some effort to bend my arms enough to get to my emergency handles. It's still really tight after a dozen or so jumps on it, but it's a lot better than it was. Nick says it should loosen up a lot more after a while, but I don't think it will loosen up that much more. I still have to put the booties on before I put my shoulders in or there's no way I can get my feet in them. It sucks when it's 108F out and you have to walk around with your legs zipped up the whole time. Not to mention what a pain in the ass it is to get into a Skyvan like that. I had a few other complaints besides the fit. There's a piece of webbing every few inches that holds the cutaway cables for the arm wings. They were hot-knifed and the edges were sharp as hell. It scratched the shit out of my arms and wrists. Also, they should have rounded the edges on the tubes they used inside the handles. You can see where it's going to wear through the fabric after a while. And, as Scott mentioned in the other thread, the zippers came apart on me. Apparently, YKK didn’t have the proper size zippers for where you attach the lower arm wings so they cut some longer ones down. They didn’t do anything to the ends so the slider came all the way off. The stapler worked for a temporary fix until I got some supertack around the last couple teeth to keep it on there permanently. Since they built this suit, they’ve gotten the right size zippers from YKK so it shouldn’t be a problem for anyone else. And Nick knows about the other issues with the sharp webbing and the handles and he has fixes in place already. He’s also said they would do whatever it takes to make it fit right if it doesn’t break in like it should. He says they can add some more fabric around the shoulders if they need to loosen it up more. The service from this company has just been impeccable. As soon as I get back from my next trip they are going to take care of anything that still needs attention. The nice part is, it only has to go a few hundred miles to get fixed and not all the way around the world. Nick even offered me a blow job for my trouble, but I turned him down. As far as the way it flies, I absolutely love it. Once I was out of the plane, the tight fit didn't bother me at all. I got as tight as I’ve ever been on any flocks in it and according to my Neptune I’ve gotten some of my lowest freefall speeds in it. I’m really impressed with the forward speed in it too. I had no problems staying up with the slower flocks or down with the faster ones. It seems to have a lot of range despite Nick's claim that it's not designed for flocking. I tried to get a bunch of other people to jump it out there so we could hear some more opinions on it, but no one else wanted to try it. If I ever figure out how work paralog and this gps, I’ll really try to max it out a couple times and post some numbers. I’ll be interested to see how it compares to my Mach 1 which is a pretty bad ass suit too.
  5. A little jealous, are we? I'd be mad too if I was stuck jumping a dirty old V1 with Voodew's skid marks in it
  6. Got my new Rigor Mortis today. Just in time for AZ
  7. Thanks Scott. How many people registered?
  8. I can't get there until Thursday night. Can I still join in on Friday morning?
  9. I agree with everything you said except for that.

    BASE schools

http://snakeriverbase.com/ I took this course last year and it was definitely worth doing (Thanks Tom). http://www.egwingsuits.com/BASECourses.htm The requirements are a little higher to get in to this one, but it's a lot cheaper than any of the others. Good luck!
  11. Not that it matters, but the original poster is correct. You immigrate to a country. You would emigrate from a country.
  12. I keep getting these emails. Is there anything to this or is it bullshit?
  13. Na, She loves it. Whenever I spend money on this stuff, she gets to spend the same amount on her scrapbooking shit. It's expensive, but a lot less than child support would be...
  14. Got my new Mach1 on Wednesday. Exactly 2 weeks after I ordered it. Thanks Tony! I put my first 2 jumps on it this weekend. It flies great. Averaged 58 on my first jump and 53 on my second. Really good times for me... The best part is I let a buddy try it out and he fell in love with it too. He's ordering one this week so I'll have someone to flock with now.
  15. Hey Joni- The ad says "...two turbine planes including an Arizona Super Otter" Do you know what the other plane is going to be?
  16. I just did it this weekend in a Zwing Eagle. It's pretty easy. My rider was a small chick 140lbs with gear. Our avg was about 95mph. I used about the same spot as I would have without her and it worked out fine. At pull time she just hopped off and pulled normally. The only thing that sucked is the Eagle has webbies. I didn't notice it during the jump so I'm not sure how it happened, but they gave me some pretty good blisters between my fingers. Have fun!
  17. Yeah Chuck. I see how it is down there... Always gotta try and blame it on the brown guy... Actually it was the Canadian dude, Trevor, that flew the wrong way.
  18. Anyone going to this interested in splitting costs on a rental car or ride from PHX and room, please PM me. I'm pretty flexible on travel days/times and 4:20 friendly. Thanks.
  19. EG Suits new Wingsuit Website is up. http://www.egwingsuits.com/
  20. Nick asked me to pass this on here... "All EG suits have a wider leg-stance angle than the Vampire. The Rigor Mortis is our max glide suit. It can be ordered with a tall butt deflector or a shorter one to be used with low-profile BASE rigs. It comes standard with a leg pouch, Cuben fiber ribs, and all the other EG cool features. The Flockus is EG flocking suit based on the Rigor Mortis platform. It has parpack ribs, no butt deflector and no BASE pouch, and the same arm wing grippers as the Rigor Mortis. It also has airlocked arm wing vents. The Volturius is our aerobatics suit. The arm wing is cut straight (no grippers but palm loop), and the leg wing is 4" shorter than the other suits. It also has symmetrical ribs and symmetrical attachment point. The arm wing airlocked vents are bigger than the ones on the Flockus. This is a palm-down suit. The Corvus is our two-piece tracking suit also made out of lined 420 parapack like all the other suits, inflatable booties, sleeves, and crutch, and bungees on the trailing edges of the inseam and sleeves. It also used snaps and zippers to secure the two pieces together."
  21. It seems like it would, doesn't it? I guess Nick would be the person to ask about it. Unfortunately, he's banned from here. He did say that they are working on a super low profile integrated harness/container/wingsuit for base. He said the prototype should be done this summer.
  22. Here's a pic of the Rigor Mortis in the air with its "butt deflector" inflated.
