HE'S ALIVE????? fallrate, man, i heard yougot deported. hey i still have your pen you leant me to fill out my logbook at the richmond boogie last year, then you up and dissappeared, which no offense, but that isn't an easy task for someone with, well, let's say, as much fallrate as you have :) we miss ya man. Anyway, i know a lot of people are going in February. I don't know if I am going or not. I have to see about $ and taking days off from my kids... well, sorry, though i already have someone to slee.. um, i mean, split a room with if i go. um, oh, yeah, so, hopefully i'll see you there later lew lewmonst.com
  2. yeah, i'm proud to say i'm still way ahead in Jumps Vs Postings... going to arizona for xmas and new years helped out with that...
  3. my first thought was climbzone, but that's taken, no site, but the name is bought... so was chalkbag.com... Although boulderzone.com is available...
  4. fyi - there's a nice holiday inn, about $70/night, but you can get 2 nights for the price of 1 by printing this coupon: http://www.sixcontinentshotels.com/holiday-inn?_template=night_free.html don't try wihtout a good printout, they're kinda stingy about that... and uhum, watch out, there are plenty of cops in that small town. don't let SkydiveAZ intimidate you as a newbie, everyone there is VERY friendly and cool. even some of the coolidge gang goes to the Bent Prop at night. The Bent Prop is a restaurant/Bar right on the Dropzone, man that place has everything. especially nice weather... why are you still reading this, go get your license! peace
  5. whoa, your parents chose Casa Grande of all places??? and what do you mean you won't have your A license?? you have until Jan 30, get your shit together! even if you don't jump anyway, what an opportunity. i just got back from Eloy's Holiday Boogie which kicked ass. You should check out Coolidge too. not the town, though, Mullin's place, try http://www.arizonaskydiving.com/ Otherwise, there's nothing else to check out around there. well, unless you count the "ruins" or Phoenix or Tuscon, or those mountains. the closest tunnel is vegas, and it's not worth the trip. get your license, then jumping is cheap, especially at Mullins place. For a 7 minute ride to 14,000.... c'mon, get off the computer right now and go get licensed.
  6. yeah some bs about going to dinner, yet it was only 2:30 and he was packing his stuff to leave... i made 2 more jumps after that... where are your priorities~? you know that's why i'm leaving my family to go skydiving on xmas and new years... nice meeting you btw
  7. chuck, you should be ashamed of yourself
  8. he're reffering to skydive elsinore in california
  9. A friend of mine in Georgia is a seamstress/tailor. She'd never made anything for skydiving before, but I explained to her freefly pants and showed her some examples and gave her measurements and she made a sweet pair of pants for me. I don't have any photos at the moment, but i will post some asap. Anyway, she understood how to make the stitches strong and all that. I've jumped them and they're great. If you want to see other clothes she makes, or get her contact info, go to [link]http://www.madebyjoene.com/[/link] she's also willing to work with you on pricing and or soem sort of barter... And she'd love more business.
  10. if i could jump with you in florida i would go, flyboy and phree, but i decided to go to the desert for the hell of it anyway... i'm planning on going to eloy most of the time, but i'll probably go over to coolidge some also...xmas-nyears
  11. another rainy weekend. but hey, we can't complain after the november we had here... this is why we go on winter skydiving vacations to other places... happy bday brandon
  12. would have been there, but we've been lookin at this grey sky all day... and Brandon, HOUSEWORK??? cmon, if you're ever going to be a skygod you can't pull lame excuses like that... maybe i'll be at sgc in the morning tomorrow, but i have to bail by 3 becuase i have vb practice. (i'm the only coach, i gotta be there) that's my only excuse peace
  13. hey ann, i fly with a bonehead mindwarp with a dbox and pc5. I tried my first few headdown dives with my other helmet, an oxygn a3, and i flailed, but felt that the angle of the full face was inhibiting, so with about 5 attemps headdown, i just started jumping with my camera. it took me a while to fall straight down, not becuase of the camera but just becuase it's a hard sweet spot to find, expecially as a girl. i'm not that well endowed, but it does get in the way. and i've gotten a few pointers in the last 6 months or so, as i've occasionally backslid. and i figured out that my relaxed body position has a natural arc becuase of well, the girl thing... so i have to consciously de-arch, roll my shoulders a little forward to try to minimize that. i can fly headdown, but not good enough to dock yet... patience, practice, airtime... I have heard from others that a topmount camera is like a rutter, but not impossible to fly, i know several guys who fly headdown very well with a topmount. it's all jsut a matter of practice. now, if we could only find a way to jump more for less $... peace
  14. Yeah Greene County! who doesn't love the casa...
  15. my 2 cents of an opinion: norman kent does better artistic skydiving photography. jj does more and better extreme and entertaining videos. sanders does good work, but more commercial stuff. I've met sanders, nice guy. And I have to say, if you've never seen any of SteveO (Utter) video's recently, check them out. He not only an amazing skydiver, he does excellent camera work, and beautiful films, visually, artisticly and in editing, compostion and effects. And steveO's and incredibly nice guy and great to jump with... ok, that's all i have to say about that
  16. even though i learned belly, and was stuck there for a while, until i got new gear... i've moved to the dark side and enjoy the challenge of small freefly jumps... able to dock in a sit, hang feet up and campfire with 6 other sitter/hd's... Freeflyin seem more intimate and just so much more natural to me than belly, why play in only 2 dimensions when you have 3? I also love chasing anything with my camera. and i still get a kick out of a good belly dive every once in a while (make sure i can still fly my slot :) ).... and while i'm not a surfer (like a one-tandem jump student calling themselves a skydiver), for the individual challenge i love my dozen or so jumps on the board. (but i still suck) and that's ok... starting to enjoy landings more and more, eventually i'll aim for the pond... no rush though OK, i guess i'm too ADD to choose one discipline. (sorry)
  17. JUST KIDDING!!!! Really: Goonies & Forrest Gump
  18. This is great... a polite dz debate.... (that i didn't start
  19. brandon, it's all about your knees... PSYCHO pack it!!! trust me, i just got my new safire in june, took it to a boogie the first day i had my rigger get it all together... after spending about 1/2 hour wiping sweat and tears away, i took it over to the icarus demo tent, and the icarus staff said, "here, i'll show you how to psycho pack it..." i paid for packers the rest of that day, but with 4 jumps on it a couple weeks later, i printed the photo description of psycho-packing from icarus's website, and packed it in my living room... you will be amazed how much easier it is to get in the bag. (it may not be pretty, but it works) and 100 jumps later, nothing more than an occasional (less than 1 in 10pack jobs) line twist, i have reliable openings, and can pack the whole thing in about 6 or 7 minutes... i would NOT recommend psycho packing for everyone though. i've psycho packed a couple other canopies and heard of slams to 1000 ft. snivles... But it is recommended for a safire. (and don't roll or push the nose in) tip 2: closing your container, use your bare feet, not your knees... if i get to Richmond before the bandwagon heads to the party saturday night, I'd be happy to show you how to do it... ...for $5 dollars - JUST KIDDING
  20. has anyone been to eloy for the holiday boogie? how is it? Is anyone going this year? thanks
  21. Just having an error message when trying to reply to other PM, not sure if the message is going through... Sangiro? wassup with that?
  22. i don't know anything about the military from personal experience, but i do have an engineering degree. i turned down an appointment to the USAFA, having applied thinking i wanted to fly... but after visiting, deciding i couldn't sell my soul for 10 years just to see if i might get that chance... and this is only hearsay, but i've been told that they don't let the engineers drive the bus in the sky, they're stuck in an office with no windows on the ground designing it. but like i said, i'm just an ex-engineer, not in the military, so i'm probably not any help... i can say though, once i started skydiving, i thought who the hell would want to stay in the plane, and i haven't put any money to a pilots license... maybe i'll do that when i get bored of skydiving... ha, naaa... blue skies, go for your dreams!
