  2. I entered my feelings...I live in SLO and felt it good. There is no damage here at my facility but most people that live in North County have left to go check their homes. One employee who lives in Paso said that he had a TV fall off of the shelf and he lost a bunch of water from his pool. Another had a stack of 20 sheets of ply wood fall on his washer and dryer and caused some damage. Other than a few things falling over, I haven't heard of employees homes being damaged. I haven't heard the confirmation of the fatality that was mentioned, but I do know that the building colloapsed in Paso. I think their were two building that sustained major damage. I haven't felt any aftershocks here in San Luis Obispo, but I expect that their will be some activity over the next week. ...FUN FOR ALL!

  7. It is not 3 layers, it is the weight of supplex that I am using. The fabric dealer recommends 90-14 universal needles for sewing supplex. I think that I could use a bigger needle though. ...FUN FOR ALL!

  12. It is definately the closing loop fraying. It only looks like one or two strands, but I haven't jumped it since I noticed it. I would love to take it back to the rigger that packed it, but she is a couple states away, and the loft didn't seem to take any responsibility when I called them about it. ...FUN FOR ALL!
  13. I noticed this after 4 jumps on a brand new container and closing loop. I didn't check the loop after the pack job, but the next day I did and found that it was frayed. Has anybody seen this? Any ideas how this occurs? The rigger's only explanation was that it was "a really tight pack job". ...FUN FOR ALL!
  14. What it could mean: 1) If there are 20 people on the otter and each has 1000 jumps .....Somebody will die on that load. 2) If you are doing a AFF jump there are 3 people in your jump.... it is 3 times as likely that somebody will die. 3) If 20,000 jumps (world wide) are carried out on a saturday...somebody in the world will die. 4) If time travel were possible, and you went back and did the same jump 20,000 times...you would die. Stats are fun, and dangerous, use them wisely! Maybe there should be a BSR on what kind of statistic one is qualified to use! ...FUN FOR ALL!

  16. I recently received products that I ordered from a mail order supplier of gear, and there was a warranty/warning flyer included that stated that 1 jump in every 20,000 result in death. That seems a little high of an occurance rate to me. Does this make sense to anybody? They state in a footnote that the information came from U.S.P.A. reports. ...FUN FOR ALL!
  17. It was a little cold for Hawaiian shirts here today, but maybe this afternoon... How is the weather supposed to be in Hollister tomorrow? I might head up there for some jumps! ...FUN FOR ALL!
  18. So is it your thinking that if you had used regular rubber bands, it would have broken and you would have had a normal deployment? I am not an expert, but it seems that the problem was with the line bite, and not the type of stow used. FWIW- I use a combination of tube stows and rubber bands. My locking stows are tube stows, and the others are rubber bands, and I have always had good openings and good line stowing. ...FUN FOR ALL!
