  1. There are some skiing/snowboarding helmets out there that have a good value for the cost, don't look goofy as hell, and work quite well. ...FUN FOR ALL!
  2. As if half the crap we wear skydiving doesn't already look "goofy as hell" Check out the frap hats, freefly buckets and RW DarthVader masks that skydivers sport! ...FUN FOR ALL!
  3. Treat it like a case of beer that you are storing for later use! No heat, No UV, No extreme anything. I use a plastic bin that I bought at the hardware store for 4 bucks and it has a lid and is stackable. It is a great way to keep/transport all of your gear. Get a big one with lid and handles and wheels and you are set! ...FUN FOR ALL!
  4. Can you really skydive under water? They must do that in the Bahamas where it is warm and you can see the ground! ...FUN FOR ALL!
  5. I totally agree. These basic safety rules are minimums. Everyones' personal rules should exceed these minimums. ...FUN FOR ALL!

    soft links

Cool, we should look into soft hip rings, and soft chest rings. The comfort and fit of soft rings would be great, and you could replace them when your legs get too fat! Polymers are great for that strength to weight ratio, as long as they are strong enough for the job. Titanium has a great strength to weight ratio, however the brute strength still does not equal that of steel. Do you think that it is worth converting to slinks or are the rapid links equal but different? ...FUN FOR ALL!

    soft links

Cool, I just didn't know. ...FUN FOR ALL!
  8. The point he was making is that in extreme circumstance you will be unable to Swoop your reserve for a soft landing, and it would be better to have a larger sheet over your head. ...FUN FOR ALL!
  9. Once again general guidelines are just that guidelines. You have to develope your own set of rules based on your equipment, your experience, and your capabilities! ...FUN FOR ALL!
  10. I am freshly learning to sit as well... I found that totally relaxing the arms and letting them fly themselves helped a ton. The other thing that helped to lock my sit in was letting my legs drop a bit more. When they were at right angles or a bit lower, I had trouble with corkin' out, but once I pushed down with the feet a little, I was in total control of my column of air. Good luck. ...FUN FOR ALL!

Stronger? Really? I have a hard time seeing how fabric can withstand greater tension forces than metal, not to mention abrasion resistance. ...FUN FOR ALL!

  13. To further support this... Minimum container opening altitudes above the ground *** Would indicate that the pin has been pulled from your closing loop, would it not. You would have to pitch by, what 2100 or 2200 to get that pin out by 2000? ...FUN FOR ALL!
  14. Maybe it doesn't need to be said, but....you must be capable of thinking to be able to skydive, right? Isn't there a little bit of difference in the tension of a dive loop and a toggle? Did this person try to flare with the dive loops as well? ...FUN FOR ALL!

    soft links

I searched the forums for the whys, but it seems like I could read posts all day and not get an answer...Could someone give me a brief answer to why you would change to a soft link? What is better about it than the metal link that I have? ...FUN FOR ALL!
  16. The time spent between jumps seems to be a non-linear curve. I did my first jump, but because of cost waited 3.5 weeks for the next, then 2 weeks for the next two. I found that doing at leasts 2 levels in one day was much better for learning. By the end of it (A license progression), I was doing three jumps on Saturday, then one more on sunday. The more jumps with the least amount of time between is the best. ...FUN FOR ALL!
  17. Just a question as a Side note...Where do get in the order (jumprun) if you want to pull high (6-7000 ft)to practice canopy flying? Behind the students and Tandems, before them, first out? ...FUN FOR ALL!
  18. So if you are flying horizontally in Hybrid, do you really have to say that you were belly flying, or is there another term that can be used!? ...FUN FOR ALL!
  19. I love my G3, and I hear a lot of good things about the G4, but have never flown it. I watched a guy packing one and he was bitching about something, but it looked like it had some cool features. I think that you would have to wear em, and pack em to get the real difference. ...FUN FOR ALL!

    Icon Help!

Thanks for everyone's help, I got it figured out (actually someone else did!) Oh well....But I am a little scared of the guy below my name now! ...FUN FOR ALL!
  21. I wholly agree with what you say. I see BASE in my future, but at 50 skydives I have a ways to go. This was brought dangerously close to my attention when I did my first hop & pop and got unstable as I through my PC at sub terminal. I rolled over on my bridle and saw my pc in front of me. I was able to roll back over and everything worked out fine, but had this been a BASE jump, I can imagine the results. Body position, tracking, stable deployment all seem like very valuable skills to an aspiring BASEr. ...FUN FOR ALL!

    Icon Help!

I tried searching AVATARS and the majority of the results was a thread about animated avatars. I am not that good yet, nor do I want an animated avatar. What I am primarily trying to do is scale down a picture of me, and reduce the quality enough to fit the requirements, and I do not have any fancy software. ...FUN FOR ALL!

    Icon Help!

I want to give myself a little icon, and I have been trying to make pictures smaller, and get the size of the file down and have had no luck. Any tips on getting me set up with an icon? I tried searchinig for this topic on previous forums, but I found a lot about new icons for markup. Any ideas? ...FUN FOR ALL!
