Especially during early stages of opening (slider up high), I would think the lines are wrapped around more of the radius of the grommet that faces the canopy, so that would be more critical to have the "smooth" side.   8. Good question, and I might realize that 1.5 is all I ever want to jump. A container for 4 sizes (120- 170) would allow loading from 2.1 to 1.3 (7-cell 190); certainly enough range to not ever need to buy another one. It is wise to not expect so much variation. Important things are much better when the container is right for the canopies, without pushing the envelope either way. The good news is that rigs for larger canopies and larger people are in high demand, so they sell fast at a good price. The supply vs demand for small-canopy rigs is not as good for sellers. Of course you did not mean to do that, but you should realize that it turns into that (another downsizing thread) because when people get hurt under canopies they have no business jumping, the ambulance can result in a very long delay in jumping for everyone else. I believe that swoop cords can certainly be effective at adding drag, but they are too likely to give bad results when flying with others, so I think you will find that they are not at all popular. If I'm wrong, others certainly can correct me. Learning how to fly slower is a great skill to learn, but is not how you want to fly with others. If your flying technique needs fixing, then of course that should be a priority before trying to add excessive drag by a jumpsuit. However, as I said before, you will fly best if you are not near the edge of your speed-capability/envelope.   14. The better jumpsuit mfgs will be able to help you. Things that the suit mfgs should suggest include extra large diameter grippers, inseam and outer leg grippers that will both sit along the side of your legs (instead on following along the back of your leg), double layer arms, cordura booties, padded knees, and of course an appropriate amount of wing under the arm. They should help you decide among the various types of fabric they offer. Don't look at just the Liquid Sky brand, Tony and Bev suits are just a couple of the very well known brands you should definitely consider. Nobody flies very well when they are near the extreme limit of their range of speed, so lose weight and get a suit that allows you to fly with others comfortably.   17. They are called 'load limiters' and I believe they have been on all cars since about 2008, along with 'pretensioners' which take up slack in the belt when a crash is detected. The load limiter can take many different forms, from the stitching you saw to devices that involve the deformation of metal in various ways. Some designs have the pretensioner and load limiter incorporated into the same device to save space, weight, cost. Vehicle safety has come a long way, and is a good reason to own a newer rather than older car. If we could get people to accept a racing type harness to restrain their upper body instead of just a single strap across, many more lives would be spared along with far fewer injuries. Well, it's not just to "look cool", I really wanted soft pillows because I'm a small jumper and the damn metal handle was constantly pushing in my rib cage when sitting in the plane, moving around, bending, etc. Not to mention that the rigid handle can "pop out" of the harness more easily, or make the harness "rigid" in a weird and uncofortable way, I don't know how to explain that better, but I came to hate it on my old vector, whereas the soft handle bends inside the harness, hence for small harnesses it simply fits better, stays there better and it's more comfortable, IMHO. Also, less snag hazards during RW exits. Honestly, I think the 2 soft pillows to be a better setup for generic skydives (once exception would be crw, I think). 100% agree on taking the 5 minutes of extra time to understand how this slightly changes your EPs, though, no excuses for that.
