  1. you could save gas money and drive a quarter the distance to Skydive Twin Cities.
  2. I haven't seen a Ex-President surf that well since Bodhi at Bells Beach
  3. Not the past couple years. And where are your numbers to support this? Well I didn't actually check the numbers but instead used my gut feeling based on the fact that even though there were a lot of ws-base fatalities last year, they weren't all proxy. And I guesstimated the swooping deaths by ~30 fatalities in north America / per year, which accounts to roughly 50% of global, and about 40% being swooping giving higher numbers. But now that I checked the numbers it was as far as I can tell 15 proxy WS vs. 14 swoop deaths. So I was wrong for last year, but right for every other year before that. 14 swoop deaths or some swoop deaths and some low turn deaths? also as stated by wasatchrider above, the amount of swooping that happens each year compared to the number of proxy jumps each year hurts your comparison. Dead is dead, doesn't matter how many attempts it takes to get there. maybe this will help you see. 3.2 million skydives made last year, let's say 500,000(low balling it) where high performance landings, and only 14 deaths. on the base side we can't get exact numbers but my guess is it was less than 50,000(high balling it) proxy ws flights and 15 deaths. when you do the numbers dead isn't just dead.

  7. Although good point, what does that have to do with terminal openings? also if you can't handle stowing your full rds in traffic, you probably can't handle a canopy that benefits from full rds in traffic.
  8. if you flew a velo, you are going to think the neos is shit.
  9. because no one buys stiletto's or xfire''s anymore. and unless pd makes a peregrine-lite people will still buy the comp velo.
  10. A YouTube video is subjective. Feeling is subjective. Lets check the recorded numbers. Numbers don't lie. Plus, you can explain numbers. 2 is more than 1, for example, but 1st place is better than 2nd. Also, I keep hearing these suits "can fly circles around phantoms" but I've yet to see it actually happen. The best Aura and Colugo times are sitting at 86th and 91st on the time charts flying for 63.9 and 62.7 seconds over a vertical kilometer. Interestingly, those times are the best times flown by those pilots and the best flown by those suits, so those numbers aren't just where they'd be in the charts, they're actually there. The Swift's best recorded score is 52.9 seconds. There are 9 Phantom 3 tracks and 25+ Phantom 2 tracks recorded at better times than the Swift's current recorded best. How about distance? With 1.912 and 2.320 km flown, they'd both be sitting at position 150+++ Interestingly, the swift didn't place too far behind the Aura, with 1.887 km. The Phantom 2 has 25 tracks flying 2.330 km or more. Sadly, there is a prodigy 2 jump that is higher in the distance charts than both the Swift and the Aura has been recorded flying at. What about Speed? At 206.3 km/h the Colugo first appears in the rankings at 172nd. It does not appear that the Aura has done a speed run. The Swift's current best run is 199.9 km/h. I stopped counting before I ran into a 200km/h run on a P2. Don't believe me? Please, go check the numbers yourself. http://paralog.net/ppc/ If you really think your suit is better than everything else, go compete in it so we can see where it really stands. Maybe you should give all the numbers when you post your facts, like maybe your height and weight. From looking at you I would guess 6'3'' and 140lbs? Anyone with those stats should be able to climb thermals in a classic.
  11. Navigator 300 1 jump Navigator 280 2 jump Navigator 260 22 jumps Sabre2 230 30 jumps Sabre2 210 30 jumps Sabre2 190 120 jumps started playing with straight in fronts Sabre2 170 200 jumps started 90's Sabre2 150 100 jumps Sabre2 135 500 jumps after over 200 jumps doing 90's on the 135, started 270s with some coaching. Katana 120 100 jumps Velocity 103 500 jumps and still going. This was over a 4 year period and most of the jumps where hop n pops or high pulls dedicated to canopy drills or "skills"

  13. it is a triple fatality. go read the other thread that was locked due to un-educated post like the first post here. If YOU go read the other post... the title was changed to "Double Fatality" by the 10th post. Anyway, IMO this whole thread should be deleted by a mod. You are an idiot. You should read the whole post. You know where it says that they pulled Brian off life support. It would appear to be the case that it was originally entitled "Double Fatality" and when Brian passed: one of the moderators changed it to Triple. Simple out of sequence, different threads, postings and not being on here for a few days. Let's refrain from the personal attacks. Let's read all the info before making post that make us look like idiots.

  16. looks like a shitty movie set
  17. Than why are you trying to organize a 32 way when a 40way has already been done? Is that farther, higher, faster or better? The 40 way should be a state record. No argument here. But, it's not. For whatever reason, they did not do the paper work. I'd love to see that record in the books. Especially considering when it was done. Because they didn't care about getting their names on a piece of paper like you. That skydive has nothing to do with organizing a 32 way record attempt. We can still attempt to build an "official" record. Some day, I hope to be part of the group that breaks the 40. Until then, we'll keep working our way up. That, DQ, is how you improve and develop the local talent. You improve talent by just going and throwing shitty 32ways together? I thought smaller successful dives developed talent? The record is not what's important. Developing skydivers and building the talent pool is. We (many of us) learned a lot last year. Even though we were unsuccessful. Next time we have an opportunity (the planes) we'll be better qualified to go after that 40 way. Then why is the record so important to you? Why not just concentrate on good skydives, instead of getting your name in parachutist? I'm not sure why that's a bur under your saddle? But, I'm hoping you can get behind us knowing the 40 way is our ultimate goal.
  18. Well, if the 40-way doesn't have the paperwork to make it "official", and the 32-way notifies USPA to claim a record, isn't that like stealing someone else's record, knowing full well that you didn't really set a record? I think all 40 of the 40-way guys are going to be a little peeved if some 32-way claims a big-way record that they didn't really earn. Look at all the fuss about that Bones guy who intentionally messed up a head down record to keep his own record from being beaten. Isn't this akin to that? Maybe the minimums needed for a starting point should be set retroactively by researching them in old Parachutist magazines. We shouldn't just ignore all the older skydives and start from scratch. It's like Orwell's "1984" Newspeak, where we re-write history to pretend that previous things never actually happened. Normiss says we need previous records to have something to beat. Well, we DO have those previous records. Just because they weren't filled out in triplicate on the latest claim form, doesn't mean they don't exist. It leaves a bad taste in the mouth... No, I disagree entirely. If there is, for example, a known 40 way in a state, well that means that 40 skydivers got together in freefall. It doesn't mean that skydive was a record quality one, because it wasn't measured against that criteria. Were all the slots and grips correct according to the declared formation? Who knows. Who knows? I do. I know over half of the jumpers who where on it. In your world the dive plane would have gone like this on the 40way in my state. "Ok guys we have an Otter, a Beaver and a couple Cessna's. Lets all just go up there and grab each other anywhere and hopefully we'll get this 40way" "Should we dirt dive this?" "Fuck no" Post dive "holy crap it worked and it was symmetrical"

  21. Who is "they"? Also "one of them"? I thought only one person was jumping. And finally who cares?
  22. why do people do this? i'm guessing he's asking because these are the only two good rigs that come with a skyhook, sorry aerodyne. both rigs are awesome. at this point with modern rigs it really just comes down to what you think looks good. all harnesses are comfy when they are custom.
