  1. I had the opertunity to get to do an intentional cutaway this weekend. It was close to the best thing I have ever experienced skydiving. Jumped out with pilot chute and dag in my arms- left plane in a week sit, let pilot chute go and started to rotate head down as line stretch happened --then slam the lightning was open. Docked with Wendy F. who's gear I was using and she held the pilot chute as I cutaway. Back into freefall for 1000ft and than opened my main. The feeling of freefall from a nearly complete stop is awesome now I know why peolpe base jump. Thanks Wendy and the beer is on the way. The pimp hand is powdered up ... say something stupid
  2. It is probably that they knew you were coming and didn't want you to stay! Can't say as I blame them--Just kidding see you when you make it back home---Voodew The pimp hand is powdered up ... say something stupid
  3. we are used to this at Skydive Temple as the Pres visits his ranch quite often. All it means for us is that we have to take off and turn around, we are about 35 to 40 miles out. The pimp hand is powdered up ... say something stupid
  4. A 10 lb bag lasts from 14,000 to about 4000 with good results The pimp hand is powdered up ... say something stupid
  5. Jumping student gear you should have been told PULL count 1..2..3.. look over your shoulder and make sure pilot chute is not in your burble. You should be fully or almost fully standing up by the count of three under an inflating canopy. Look up and check canopy---look for other canopies, controllability check followed by locating the DZ and landing. I wouldn't look up or over your shoulder til at least the count of three as the opening shock can hurt your neck! The pimp hand is powdered up ... say something stupid
  6. I am not 100% sure but I think he was given a new reserve by the company even though it was 10yrs old and probably overloaded. This was not done by choice I think it was demanded by our DZO. I think the container was a Javelin. The reserve was not a PD or Tempo that I am sure or I would think twice about jumping one. Add to the age of the gear, low jump numbers of the diver and panic of total which could have resulted in a headdown or unstable deployment of the reserve at a higher than normal speed may have helped the reserve to malfunction. The jumper never really felt comfortable after this event and has not jumped much since. The pimp hand is powdered up ... say something stupid
  7. go to helmet-camera.com-----neat deal changeable lens for $20 --480 lines resolution drawback is lots of wires running down your body and a big bag on your gut. It does a good job though. The pimp hand is powdered up ... say something stupid
  8. We had a relatively low time jumper using a rol lose his handle in the spandex. He chose to go straight for the reserve--It deployed and over half the lines on the reserve broke. His descent was slowed long enough for him to dig the handle out and throw out the main--He landed uninjured with a main and a blown up reserve out. IF THERE IS NOTHING OUT DON'T CUT AWAY WHY WOULD YOU CUTAWAY SOMETHING THAT IS STILL IN THE CONTAINER. The pimp hand is powdered up ... say something stupid
  9. A 10 LB bag of flour cost 1.97 and leaves an extremely big trail--slice the bag with a razor blade and duct tape it closed with a handle to pull it open as you go. May not be so great for birdman it it is fun for everything else. Duct tape the bag to your leg. The pimp hand is powdered up ... say something stupid
  10. If it is cheap I'll buy it I will take all the risk that even though they don't make it any more the did at one time and at one time it was made to fly! The pimp hand is powdered up ... say something stupid
  11. Maybe they could have a lower fee per day as I can only jump 1 day a weekend and $45 was alot for 1 day--alot for a weekend to but a little more reasonable---Thanks---But I did force myself to drink about 15 free Red Bulls to try and make up for the boogie fee! 12. Casa again? extremely high boogie fee like last year? Just wondering--this year maybe for the high price the shirt can be included!! The pimp hand is powdered up ... say something stupid
  13. I was just curious as to how many times your reserve handle has been snagged or pulled by accident----whats the difference between your reserve loop and the cutaway loop?--I think it is a great idea -- really good if your jumping a highly loaded high performance canopy prone to spinning mals. It sure would be easier on a hard pull if you can get your hand in there for leveage--just a thought The pimp hand is powdered up ... say something stupid
  14. In Texas we have a chain of batteries plus--they have the protrack batts and any other ones you my need--don't know if they are in Cal. but I think they are a nation wide chain. The pimp hand is powdered up ... say something stupid

  18. We don't have this problem at our DZ as the freefliers in a headdown dock on some of our heavyweight bellyfliers. Makes for great video and brings in a whole different angle to a hybrid dive. The only problem I see is that I either need to strap on 50 lbs. of weight or eat a lot to be able to go 160mph in a belly to earth fashion. Why can't we all just get along--this shit is to fun to sit around and bitch at each other or make fun of other disciplines. The pimp hand is powdered up ... say something stupid
  19. I read somewhere that cypres saves about 80 people per year, maybe that helps you. I think I read that in the parachutist in an add for cypres. The pimp hand is powdered up ... say something stupid
  20. Damn man I did the research and got the example off of Sun Paths web site. Just trying to help someone answer a question and everyone flames me. I say everyone use those arguements and call Javelin and have them use metal housings. And as for the plastic housings aging factor, plastic doesn't age well in UV light ie the sun, but not much sun will hit the housing as it is inclosed in the riser--now this is my take on the plastic aging so if someone wants to argue this one it is just what I think from what I know. The pimp hand is powdered up ... say something stupid
  21. I may be wrong but I think javelins come with plastic housings in the risers not metal as metal can be pinched if for instance slammed in a car door making them not work. I think javelin only uses plastic housings, they could still be considered hard housings but they are not metal. The pimp hand is powdered up ... say something stupid
  22. If you have an extremely fast fall rate and need to slow down the after burners might help. Usually they can be velcroed shut if not needed. Just to make sure we are talking about the same thing, afterburners are a 6 inch to 12 inch pocket sewn on the legs of the jumpsuit to catch air. If you don't fall real fast they will not be of much use. The pimp hand is powdered up ... say something stupid
  23. Look forward to it and as for the hard time be ready to get back what you give out 10 fold---this is gonna be fun! The pimp hand is powdered up ... say something stupid
