  1. One of the issues I have with this solution is that tech mishaps DO happen, so I don't like the idea of a firing just because of equipment failure. The solution I read of that seems best to straddle the line is that if the cam is off for any interaction that leads to potential charges, the officers testimony becomes inadmissible.
  2. Tropic Thunder was my litmus test for whether nuance was being applied to what got pulled or if it was all a blanket approach. It's almost unique in its usage of blackface because it has it there EXPLICITLY to mock and denigrate the practice, and does so throughout the entire movie.
  3. I agree he'll make an enormous fuss if he loses and will never ever shut up about it, because that's his brand, win at all costs. I disagree that he'll try and stay beyond a second term if he wins, because he clearly fucking hates the job. Term limits are his easy out, leaving office because he has to isn't a loss and all he cares about is being seen to be winning.

    Q

It is, but not for the reasons you probably think. They have high production values on that channel, but the content chosen and the constant plugging of ways to give them money do confirm that the QAnon phenomenon is simply yet another example of how PT Barnum was right.
  5. Sounds like a small-government conservative's dream - I'm sure it has strong GOP support, right?
  6. I believe they tried racial match-ups in the past and it didn't really have any sway on outcomes. The issue seems to be policing attitudes and priorities still, and the lack of true accountability when things go bad. EDIT: Also agreed on the arming thing, I don't think that's a suitable model for the US. Definitely demilitarise the uniforms/gear though.
  7. Is that... is that real? If so, hooooolly shiiiiiit....
  8. This is your laziest troll in quite some time. You HAVE to know what the first amendment actually is, right?
  9. No, those things have no bearing on his duplicity as a person. I wouldn't have him on the left, because people who MAKE SHIT UP FOR CLICKS are trash. This isn't me just swinging at the "other side", almost every claim/video he's ever made has been debunked, and easily. Find a conservative source by all means, just not someone who makes shit up.
  10. Everything else aside - Andy Ngo is literally a propagandist. He has a proven history of at best misrepresenting events, but usually just outright fabricating narratives. He is the LEAST credible source you could possibly use for this. Hell, for anything. I'd trust my 4 year old niece's take on current events before I'd trust Andy.
  11. This question got asked a few days ago on Twitter after the cops in Seattle started targeting medics:
  12. I saw this last week on Twitter during the first spike in protests. Conservative accounts blamed every single destructive act on Antifa, without any evidence or further reasoning. Just apply label, done.
  13. Are you WA or NT? I'm in QLD, current restrictions have relaxed to 20 people max per venue/area now that I've checked on the latest stats. Might be able to sneak in a couple pints with one or two of the lads after all.
  14. We're probably still going to see a decent second wave but yeah, proportionally low risk. God I miss the pub, though.
  15. At my last employer, over the years there were two others who shared the exact same name as me - one pre-existing in a much higher role, and one in sales who arrived after I did and left after a year or so. I rerouted many many emails that weren't intended for my eyes. When I found out the higher-up one was leaving also (as always, in an email that was misaddressed to me lol), I made sure to send him a farewell gift:
  16. Even I forced myself to at least skim the talking points in the latest Candace Owens video. She's a total grifter, but I at least wanted to know what she was saying in order to refute it.
  17. It's for this reason I am extremely hesitant to use block features on any platform, and usually reserve it for bots only. There's only one poster on SC that I find adds literally nothing to the discussion here, and I don't even have him blocked.
  18. I genuinely cannot believe that you answered the political compass questions honestly. Your posting history just does not back it up in any way shape or form. When the subject of critique is right-leaning, you give every benefit of the doubt first. When it is left-leaning, you always assume the more nefarious intent. With one exception (AGW), this has been your pattern for months and months now. I don't think you get your news from Fox and I don't think you're a parrot. I just don't think you're being honest with yourself.
  19. From the stats you posted, in absolute numbers, yes white people were getting shot at roughly double the rate of black people. Black people make up ~13% of the US population. It's not 10-1, but it's sure as fuck lopsided.
  20. Twitter posts from yesterday, so take that with as much salt as you deem necessary. If it helps, haven't seen any sources to the contrary that would indicate they weren't peaceful. One could infer that because the cops used teargas, they MUSTN'T have been peaceful, but also I watched video yesterday of cops shooting an unarmed man in the face pointblank with a teargas canister right after macing him, so you know, there's that.
  21. All eyewitness accounts I've read are that there was no directive or warning - cops just started shooting, vans rolled up, anyone they could grab was loaded in and everyone else was chased away. All so that Trump could have the dumbest fucking staged photo-op I think I've ever seen from any politician.
  22. I'd suggest anyone erring on the side of innocence re: the gesture, go look at the video again. He turns his hand inwards so it still makes the ok shape, but it is not presenting remotely in any way that anyone would ever ACTUALLY use an OK gesture. He knew exactly what he was doing. We can be pissed that trolls co-opted an innocuous gesture, but that was the whole fucking point: It gained traction with actual white supremacists because they can use it with impunity and when they're called out they'll get tons of people defending them because it COULD be innocent.
  23. White supremacists have been posting calls to go the riots and start trouble, and hey presto all of the arrests have been people from out of state. So you were right, but also very very wrong.
