  1. Is the mamba more aggressive than the Zulu? Aerodynes marketing does not make it clear. I was under the impression the zulu was either the replacement for the mamba or more aggressive.
  2. This is also the only recommended method for routing the bridle on a parachute systems Vortex II since Nov 2013 http://www.parachutesystems.co.za/safety
  3. Is this in Beijing? found this through google: "Try the China GreatSky Skydiving Club located at Beijing Shahe Airport. It is the training field of China's National Skydiving Team and the first Skydiving Club where you can jump in China and have fun in the sky." The parachute team I assume is a military team?
  4. I'm also interested in the answer. A large rev 1 fits me great, better than any cookie L or XL. Any one know if the size of the rev2 is the same. Maybe my head is a weird shape. No rev2 for me to try at my dz
  5. Vortex II is a solid choice at a budget price I highly recommend getting all the optional padding, cut in laterals and at least leg articulation. I jump an old one without the extras but my friends have newer ones which are really comfortable
  6. awesome video, great way to start the day
  7. On Aerodyne canopies the line attachment points are coloured as follows, if I am remembering correctly A - blue B - orange C- Yellow D - Green Brakes - Purple I like it. Simple idea that made it much easier as a beginner learning to pack
  8. Pillow because that's what the rig had when I bought it. I would have preferred a ring but did some harness drills with a pillow handle before jumping it to be comfortable with it. I have more issue with some cutaway handles on rental rigs that are skinny/hard to grab and sit flat against your chest
  9. My analogue lags my audible by up to 400 ft in free fall Meaning I get a break off warning at 4500ft in my ear but my analogue is reading 4900ft. After opening it is pretty much spot on though This may be a reason for a the larger than expected altitude difference you saw. Get someone to test jump it for you who has a digital alti or audible
  10. Naked is the way although do it with better friends than mine, was dumped out at 8.5k in winter but all part of the fun
  11. Thanks every one for the reply's I have soft slider stops on the risers, unless I rather forcibly pull the slider over the stops it is not going to hit the larks head knot or rings so I think I will just make sure the rings are tucked away when I pack
  12. Just a side question relating to the old aerodyne soft links I was going through my gear last night and noticed that none of the rings are hand tacked on the main risers. it looks like there used to be some thread there but it may have worn/come out over the years. Risers and main are about 7 years old How critical is it that this is fixed. Rig just came back from a cypres install and repack and I hope the rigger would have checked this sort of thing if it is important
  13. ***Unfortunately these kids do not have many choices - Honduras, South Africa or Vietnam. If they will be prohibited sewing mains, reserves or wingsuits - most likely they will ended up in the sex market...quote] As a side point, having been in the aerodyne factory there were no kids to be seen. We have far too many unemployed adults for kids to be doing the work in most cases
  14. I feel so much better about my packing now I thought I was both slow and sloppy but that opens mostly fine, I can consider myself just slow Not sure I would want to jump a rig packed that was every jump though
  15. Ill wait until I can set the altitudes or get an optima if I want visual reminders
  16. All signs point to this being a bad idea, your bones will thank you later. For what it is worth is your 168 regular zp or zpx? You could always change the main to one that packs smaller removing the tight fit you currently have. I have a 168 zpx in a container sized for a 170 main and have no issues getting it in with my shitty packing. Results obviously depend on container because if yours is a 150 its going to be tight
  17. Just to clarify you were going to flare with rear risers but your hand had slipped all the way down without you realising. This prevented you from countering the turn and ended in landing under a banking canopy? To me this reads that you were pulling on the riser that had the tension knot (left riser). This would make the canopy turn faster to the left. If it was the right riser that was slipping, was your toggle in your hand and could you have not used that to keep the wing level? I have seen people land with an asymmetric flare when one toggle was jammed Not trying to knock your method, just trying to understand what happened and how to prevent it.
  18. If you are going to carry a phone with you on a skydive that should only be for use in case of an out landing I know a guy who uses a kindle app between 1k and 8k though to pass the time, it's a slow climb in our 182
  19. Do you have a link to the SA stats? I have not seen these published anywhere
  20. SA is much cheaper than Aus or NZ for getting your A licence I have not jumped in CT but mnay of our drop zones in SA only have cessnas so you will be getting 10k only for your aff jumps If you are wanting to jump from a turbine aircraft you will need to go jump at one of the dropzones near johannesburg. This is more of a concideration after getting your licence though. A turbine will allow you to get more jumps done in a day Are you planning to do AFF or static line training?
  21. Addicition is the right word, and its an expensive one Show me another drug that costs this much to get high for such a short period of time
  22. Definately the Petra 330 because what is swooping if you cant take 2 friends along for the ride
  23. Is the bridle pierced during opening or due to wear over time and poor gear maintainence? Guess I got some packing practise to do this evening. Can't wait for people to tell me how I am using the wrong method when i am next at the DZ :p
  24. http://www.parachutesystems.co.za/safety What are people's opinions this I am still closing my rig the "old way" as I learned that way. Is this an issue in terms of safety or is either ok
