  1. I completed my FFC this weekend at a boogie and lucked out in finding a P3 that was pretty much a perfect fit in colours I like Are there any resources similar to canopy progression skills (downsizing checklist) of things to practise with the wingsuit The "Fly like a brick" videos cover a range of maneuverers I plan to start working on once I am more comfortable in the suit but was wondering if there are any other good links to check out for acro or general flying skills I am excited to get up in the air and learning to fly this thing properly
  2. How much of the visor is in frame with a full face or do you need to put it on narrow(er) FOV? I have seen Jarnos videos with a side mounted Sony on a cookie fuel and you get the side of his face and glasses in frame
  3. Pics as promised Some small tweaks still needed but nothing a dremel wont help with for now
  4. http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=4737882;sb=post_latest_reply;so=ASC;forum_view=forum_view_collapsed;;page=unread#unread Working on a snag proof thing for the bonehead gopro mount, I will make files available when I have something that works well
  5. This design is very specific to the rev2 since that is the helmet I jump It is less work later to take a design that works and adjust the bottom profile to fit a g3, z1 etc. later when I get my hands on one to measure
  6. So I got off my ass and did some work Here is my design for the rev2 with factory fitted aluminium mount, GoPro 4 housing. https://youtu.be/kfjUAo4wjII The part is printing currently and ill post some photos later Ill test jump this with it mounted by tape but I'm looking to change the internal design to allow it to be mounted with the same bolt that secures the go pro The cut-out on the left is to easily tilt the camera to the angle I usually jump it in.
  7. Fractured a bone in my left hand after slipping while trying to hang from the leading edge by my feet Hand hit the metal step over the wheel of the Cessna as I fell and I learned a lesson, keep jumping and pretend like noting happened. The pilot knew better
  8. I have a bonehead Rev2 helmet with their aluminium mount. I think I am going to have to just tape the anti snag housing on because I am hesitant to be drilling more holes into the helmet In my case it is performing the same function as gaffer tape would but while still allowing me to adjust the angle ill post the files when I eventually design the damn thing
  9. I Have been looking to make something similar myself How are you planning on securing the part to the helmet surface?
  10. Our DZ has a 182 and 206 (non turbo) The climb performance of the 182 is noticeably better than the 206 (They have similar engine performance) The big deciding factor though is our 182 has a mogas conversion so it cheaper to run than the avgas 206. I prefer the 206 for the space and I know one DZ has a more powerful NA engine in theirs and has no problem taking 5 people to 11000ft agl
  11. A naked jump with underwear is not a naked jump
  12. A single night jump is a C-licence requirement in SA For those wanting to make more we have some restrictions 1st night jump - H&P opening after 10s 2nd night jump - Solo from altitude 3rd night jump cleared to attempt any jumps you can successfully complete during the day Opening altitudes are raised by 1000ft during night jumps to allow more time to deal with a mal and generate more canopy separation. Jumpers typically stages openings by 500ft to reduce chance of collisions It snot for everyone but night jumps can be fun
  13. Vortex - I jump an old 170 vortex and would happily get a new one. They are comfortable and well priced if not cutting edge with the design features. Size depends on you, and if you want to go to a 170 at a later stage you will still be able to fit it into this container with just a shorter closing loop. Volt - Closest thing I have heard it compared to is a pilot. Slightly elliptical. have not had a chance to jump one but people I know with them like the canopy Decel - I have a 180 in my vortex and so far that is where it has stayed. More experienced jumpers have told me they prefer the smart from aerodyne because the flare is better. I load mine at 1:1 so not particularly worried about that. It will do it's job. Your profile does not list experience but that size rig should put you around 1:1 which sounds fair for someone not wanting a fast canopy.
  14. Same suit must be used for all rounds of competition In the event of damage occurring to the suit the judges can allow a second suit
  15. Plenty of it happening in Europe, think of HeliBASE, jumping paragliders etc. I have heard of some people doing balloon jumps and pitching at 300ft with BASE gear on in Europe too. Does that mean it is a smart idea - no. I personally have no issue with people doing stupid shit off DZ out of a friends plane etc. The BASE guys are up to that already. I do not think it is appropriate for normal DZ operations though as the risk is increased and the chance of show boating increases. I think the low pull fans and BASE jumpers would like it but not something you want an AFF getting ideas about
  16. I will admit to being pretty much reliant on an audible when doing FS jumping. Some times the internal clock might prompt me to glance at my wrist but most of the time I am focused on the skydive and track when I hear a beeping in my ear I do not see this as a hazard as there are 3 other people with an audible that can trigger the breakoff in a 4 way. Very unlikely that all of the audibles will fail When doing other jumps though I do use my visual alti. Tracking and jumping with less experienced jumpers in particular. I personally think my audible was one of the best gear purchases I have made
  17. Bonehead makes a gopro mount that attaches to the visor portion of the helmet just in front of the ratchet release. it is not snag proof but nothing stopping you from modifying it yourself to be snag resistant The easiest place to mount the sony would be the hinge plate on the left side plate of the helmet using the 3 screw holes. make up some sort of bracket to fit
  18. So I came across the attached on the phoenixfly website Arrow - possible speed focused suit? Monotrack - Masai and Cruise competitor most likely Anyone got more info or do I need to just be patient?
  19. No - not required in South Africa and there are no current jump planes operating with them that I know of
  20. Doubt there will be any issue You may just need to shorten the closing loop a bit afterwards I pack a 168zpx into a container made for a 170. makes getting the canopy into the dbag pretty easy
  21. All the cool countries are doing it SA has included it for our nationals in April Seriously though I cannot get an FAI document on performance flying the links are dead. Anyone able to help. http://www.fai.org/ipc-news/39178-wingsuit-performance-flying
  22. Completely agree with wearing weights outside the jumpsuit when near water. I jump over farmland typically and prefer them inside [Off Topic] Scene in SA is small and only about half the DZ are really active. I tend to do a lot of travelling to boogies as my DZ only has a small Cessna and I like me some altitude. If you find yourself in SA again most dropzones will accommodate you if you have an FAI recognised licence
  23. If my jumpsuit was that tight I may not need weights to fall with my 4way team It's not so 4 kgs will have to do. I am 6ft and 160lbs Can you fit a weight belt under the jumpsuit or some thermal layers?
  24. Remembered another one Mike wrong handle
  25. Also know a sparky, he took out power to a town of a few thousand people when we arced the main power lines for the town Comet - diving full speed for the base and then not slowing down. Went past rather fast
