  1. Hey Everyone, We're here in NY getting ready for the jump. We travelled around and took a look at the LZ for the jump which is less than 1.5 miles away from ground zero which we also took a look at and must say that it was quite impressive and emotional. This is a huge honor to be apart of this jump and all of us would just like to thank those who have served, fought, and died for the freedoms we all enjoy. There should be a lot of coverage on all the major networks as there will be a lot of memorial services going on and we're just a small part. our planned exit is just after 10:25am EST and we'll be hopefully dropping all 7 flags at 10:28:31 when the 2nd tower fell. thanks again and blue skies...stu Slip Stream Air Sports Do not go softly, do not go quietly, never back down
  2. Yup, it's over. attached are the Nationals final results which i think also includes how the guests did. Slip Stream Air Sports Do not go softly, do not go quietly, never back down

  5. To 4k it's $20, to 6k its $22, that's what prices have been nearly all year. looks like we'll be getting a discount during next week, but competition jumps will be at regular prices. Slip Stream Air Sports Do not go softly, do not go quietly, never back down
  6. Tony Hawk landing the first 900 in the half pipe. attempt after attempt, beating after beating, the pressure, and just the overall atmosphere of the moment was something amazing to me Slip Stream Air Sports Do not go softly, do not go quietly, never back down
  7. yup, but i was talking about the blue lines. i've seen a jvx pilot with the blue line break 5 lines on one jump twice after 350-400 jumps. that's HALF of what people are saying they can get out of those lines. Slip Stream Air Sports Do not go softly, do not go quietly, never back down
  8. i don't know, i've seen a jvx pilot snap 5 of the blue lines and have to cut away after 350-400 jumps...twice. if you're gonna play with the small stuff just realize what risks you're taking. Slip Stream Air Sports Do not go softly, do not go quietly, never back down
  9. As much as I want to come to my old stomping grounds, I'm not going to make it. HOWEVER, there is next year and as long as it's on the same weekend then i should be able to make it. have fun guys...stu Slip Stream Air Sports Do not go softly, do not go quietly, never back down
  10. seriously thank you. those pictures freakin made my day. i think ian needs to be in a kids harness and leashed to the hanger doors so he doesn't run away. Slip Stream Air Sports Do not go softly, do not go quietly, never back down
  11. As a competitive swooper i've pretty much done everything to my rig and i'm pretty rough on gear, but everything is holding up great. about 400 jumps on one of them that's been landed in water, sand, dirt, grass, ect. totally love UPT. 12. you guys ready for full cavity searches? i know windmiller is, he's military. and ian, well he just likes that shit. Slip Stream Air Sports Do not go softly, do not go quietly, never back down
  13. that answer can't accurately be explained through a forum like this. too many important details will slip through the cracks and people (not only you) could misunderstand something vital. speak with scott, kaz, mcnenney, when you see them next. 14. There is a difference between recovery arc and the corner, it's a small difference that gets even smaller as canopy size goes down and wingloading goes up. Ideally one would want to plane the canopy out with as little input as possible, the more input you have to give to not impact the ground the more you're in the corner. if you're too far in the corner and you try to use rear risers to plane out then you high speed stall which typically translates to femuring or death. However, what we see a lot of the times is people on stiletto's, sabre2's, katana's, ect; do their turn and get right on to their rear risers because a) the big dogs in the game do it and they want to be like them, and b) because their too low to allow the canopy to recover on it's own. Really the goal for all the up and coming swoopers is not to land using rear risers to plane out, but to get good enough where you can a) land without having to go to rear risers or toggles to plane out because you've built enough power and have timed your turn/ rollout to basically perfection, and b) have the "on the fly" ability to distinguish when you can use rears, toggles, or nothing. yes, this takes a long time to develop but taking the necessary progression is better then dieing. also, i've attached 2 pics as examples. the 1st was me on an impulse 120 (basically a colbalt) wingloading about 1.5 back when i was first learning HP landings. this canopy when flown correctly should plane itself out on its own, but you can see the amount rear riser input i have to give to plane the canopy out, which should basically tell you that i was low. the 2nd pic is a fairly recent one of me on a VE 96 loaded at about 2.2 at 5000'MSL. granted i'm not comparing the same canopies and wingloadings, but hopefully you can see the difference in rear riser input needed to plane the canopy when done correctly (at least what i consider correct ) hopefully that all made sense, a lot of info on here gets misconstruded because it's hard to write out every little detail involved. 17. Most of these questions can be answered by respected instructors or coaches, if you don't have those around then seek coaching. No wind/ light winds - rear risers with your toggles in your hands Head wind - full flight and getting your body small Down wind - brakes and making your body big. *Note - under 1000' is not the area to try new things like double fronts really close to the ground. try all new manuevers above 2000' before you start bringing it closer to the ground. Keep them some place that you can use them immediately and effectively if that's around your wrist then great but you should always have them in your hands When practicing, always keep toggles in your hands. however there could be emergency situations where you find yourself without toggles (broken steering line) Doing stupid shit close to the ground (ie low turns, s-turns, sitting in brakes over the HP landing area, ect). try all new maneuvers or inputs up high and out of canopy traffic. lastly get coaching and keep asking questions Slip Stream Air Sports Do not go softly, do not go quietly, never back down
  18. i've jumped the same slider for a jvx 87, vx 84, velo 90, and velo 84, all with good openings. i've jumped different sized sliders on velo's ranging from 75 - 96 (ie both big and small sliders on a 75), that had some effect on openings from what i noticed but not enough to concern me. i've also jumped different type rings (ie aluminum, stainless thick, and stainless thin) and that had more effect then slider size that i noticed. out of all that the only time i didn't like the openings was when i was jumping aluminum rings with a small slider on a larger canopy, other than that the differences were too small and inconsistant to make up my mind either way. hope that helps. btw, what i like best are stainless steel rings and a small slider on the 79/84 and a large slider on the 90/96 from PEA engineering. 20. My bad, my canopies were acting up this weekend one wasn't letting me stay on the water and the other was trying to put me through the water into the dirt...i had a little chat with that one too a couple of times. i think it's all sorted out now though and we're friends again, just a little misunderstanding Slip Stream Air Sports Do not go softly, do not go quietly, never back down
  21. ian, 4 zero's isn't that bad especially on your home turf with months of practice and seeing you swoop the bejesus AFTER the competition. yeah, it could have been worse, shatilov could have beatin you...oh wait he did Slip Stream Air Sports Do not go softly, do not go quietly, never back down
  22. i have a couple that only require 2 locking stows, my teammate is developing a d-bag with no bands at all, and i've seen the pd factory team in the past have bandless d-bags. i can stow my d-bag faster than most people with d-bags with bands, or at the very least at the same rate Slip Stream Air Sports Do not go softly, do not go quietly, never back down
  23. I have a hunch that competitive swooping at a "pro" level is not going to dissappear and in the year(s) to come i'll bet that their will be more "individual" competitions and not so much a Tour type setting per say, but i guess we'll see. 24. From my understanding at looking at the emails it appears the CPC championships are open to just about anyone EXCEPT current "pro" pilots, hell i knew of pilots last year that didn't participate in a single regional cpc meet that paid their money and were able to compete. The qualifier on the other hand appears to be for people who want to participate in the PST but haven't qualified in the past to do so. i could be wrong but that's how i understood it Slip Stream Air Sports Do not go softly, do not go quietly, never back down
