  1. Newtroopics/ampakines!!... not only can they increase focus & reduce anxiety(aniracetam), several are known to reduce the effects of hypoxia(piracetam), increase stamina & improved tolerance to cold weather (phenylpiracetam), some are even neuroprotective so it might help save your brain!(noopept)
  2. Wasn't jester doing something similar when he got hurt a few months back?
  3. I thought i had heard Freefall Express closed... which made me a little sad, that was where i made my 1st two IAD jumps 15 years or so ago
  4. Sony MDR-A30G.. I bought mine in 1996 or so to use with my discman .. still going strong.. still sound great... not to discman.. it died sometime in 1997
  5. it's a two seater.. I sat in it when it was in daytona earlier this year. Passenger sits behind the driver. Really neat little car, i don't have enough faith for plop down a non-refundable $1000 to reserve one.. but if they make it to production at that price i'll be quick to pick one up for my commute to work
  6. if most tunnels are like ifly here in orlando they won't let you get near it if you tell you you've had a previous shoulder dislocations, at least that's what i've been told... and they have the signs to back it up

    23andMe

I did... Mostly because my wife is a big genealogy nerd. At the time we did it they were still giving out all sort of fun health info, but if i understand correctly they're not doing that currently because they got into a pissing match with the FDA. With the health info it was worth the $100 to me... especially since it also included a tool that let you see what traits your kids would inherit if you they had both people on file... My kids won't inherit my lactose intolerance in case you were concerned without the health info i don't know that it would be worth it to me.. my wife however was thrilled with the ancestry data, and we met a great aunt i didn't know i had... so if you're into that sort of thing it might be worth it to you
  8. Watching him trying to run that fast while wearing a wingsuit would be awesome!

  14. Yay! that's what I wanted to hear, I'm REALLY dreading surgery this Friday.. But knowing yours has held up 8 years make me feel a little better about the whole thing
  15. Holy Old thread batman!! Ok ok so there IS a reason I chose to resurrect this thread from the dead instead of starting a new one. it looks like I'll be going thru pretty much the exact same surgery next Friday. My shoulders have always been naturally loose, and to add to that I tore my labrum a couple of years ago when i fell chasing a chicken I've been putting this off for forever, but I figured since I'm currently grounded while my newly reconstructed ACL is healing I might as well get this thing looked at now... and it didn't hurt that I hit all my deductibles this year fixing my ACL as well My only concern is my surgeon is worried this may only be temporary since my cables are naturally stretchy, they may loosen back up after a couple of years. But there's no way to know for sure, and this is the safest choice for a 1st attempt. So I was wondering how your repair has held up over time. Everything still nice & tight?
  16. Yep N3 Audio by Alti-2 ... the whole reason i bought mine was for the countdown feature... Like you, I'm still teaching my eyes & rely heavily on my altimeter... I'm also still struggling to get a good feel for time while in freefall, so I would be practicing tracking in a delta position. And with my altimeter behind my back I was tracking for a few seconds, then checking my altimeter.. wash-rinse-repeat ... with my N3A I get a verbal countdown in my ear the whole time 12, 11, 10, 9 8 etc... it took a lot of the stress out of wondering how high i was and allowed me to focus on trying to track flat and straight. As well as helping me to train my eyes in the process since I was getting a reading every thousand feet. I love it
  17. if you don't mind wearing earbuds, the N3A is pretty sweet. You get 3 Freefall Alerts & 3 Canopy Alerts... Plus a countdown telling you your altitude every 1000 feet. It a got a log as well. I REALLY like mine! Now with all of that said, take a look at my jump #s and decide for yourself how much my opinion is worth
  18. I dropped one in the ocean a couple of years ago... once it dried out it was squirrely .. kept thinking i was pushing buttons, or plugging in headphones. Seemed to be worse when the humidity was high... Since i figured this was due to the salt I removed the battery and put the whole phone is baggie full of distilled water and left it to soak for a while to dissolve the salt... squeezed the bag to agitate it & force as much water thru the phone as i possible could (i know that sounds crazy... but i didn't have much to lose at this point) After a few hours i took the phone out of the bag of water and put it on the dash of my car to dry in the sun for the day, and that night threw it in a baggie of rice and left it there for 3 or 4 days When it was all dried out i popped the battery back in and it was as good as new!
  19. I guess my thought process was that by trying to get my hands on silver faster next time it would distract me from subconsiously waiting to see if the skyhook was gonna do it's thing ... i mean i know NOT to do that... just want to keep the front of my mind from letting the back of my mind take over in a stressfull situation
  20. Why waste it on dogs?? http://cowleysfinefood.com/my-brittle-pony-black-beauty.html
  21. i took a FJC back in 1999 at a small Cessna dropzone in Missouri and was put in a hanging harness and was taught "look-look-right-left" using both hands to cut away, then both to pull silver ... It was uncomfortable but was nice to get a feel for what was coming, and get a feel for where my toggles would be. I only got 2 jumps (instructor deployed from 4k) before i ran out of time & money Found some time and money this year and started AFF at a large turbine DZ in FL and was honestly surprised we didn't do a hanging harness as part of the FJC On jump #18 I found myself under a canopy that insisted on turning right on opening (not violently, i could correct by pulling left toggle)... Looked up to see my right control line over the 1st 2 cells of my canopy... despite my best efforts to fix it, it wouldn't budge. So I cut away and was under my reserve at 4k The reason i bring up my cut away is that since it had been 14 years since i had been in the hanging harness I had forgotten how much force it took to pull the cut away, not that it was difficult, but it wasn't effortless so I was glad i was taught to use both hands however because i used both hands, and because my rental rig was equipped with a skyhook,I was already under my reserve by the time I got my hands on silver... not that it took long to get my hands on silver, I had my eyes on it before I ever pulled my cut away, the skyhook was just that fast. ... but it does make me want to challenge myself to be faster if i find myself in that position in the future
  22. Maybe this belongs on the photography board, but it's really a lesson all of you amatuer internet photographers could afford to learn... Improper lighting & shadows can completely ruin an otherwise beautiful photo!
  23. i dunno, it sure is fishy that the camera cuts off right as he's heading towards that last valley... I have a feeling he nailed a rock like Jeb bust didn't want anybody to see it
