  1. the link you posted really only talks about the N2 being discontinued... this is an N3 audio But since no one else replied I guess i'll assume no one else is seeing problems with theirs, so maybe this is accurate? Or no one else uses an N3 or N3A so there isn't anyone to comment? either way i'll just keep jumping it and see if it's consistent and draw my own conclusion. can't really go wrong that way :)
  2. I picked up an N3 Audio because I liked the countdown feature as well as the electronic log book ... no worries I won't be using it to listen to MP3s But my question is this.. When I started jumping my instructors all commented on how fast i fall, and when I jumped with a friend this weekend he had to work to keep up with me as well... So I know I know i'm falling pretty quick.. But according to the Log info my speed was 143 MPH on my last jump, that seems REALLY fast to me for belly flying, is this thing accurate? or is that in the realm of possibility? 3. with the the Investigators/press calling the instructor a hero based on the video footage, I'd say that's unlikely http://www.myfoxtampabay.com/story/21798217/2013/03/26/investigators-skydiving-instructor-died-a-hero
  4. it's weird how the same ingredients and method can yield more than one recipe...
  5. I've spent the last hour or so searching thru threads regarding Benny Helmets & Goggles but never found one that answered my question. Does anyone use the goggle channel in the Benny Helmet? and if so, with what goggles? One of the threads I found said that the channel cause too much of an air gap between the goggles & their face, but I would imagine that would all depend on what goggles they were using.

    Juicing

I juice daily, and from time to time do a juice fast. (currently 7 days into a juice fast now) I've started with a jack lalanne, I had it for a year or so using it occasionally... but when i started my 1st long fast it gave up the ghost after 48 days of using it 2 or 3 times a day When it broke a friend loaned me their Omega Vert until i bought a new one... I really liked it's size & it was easy to clean... but the juice was really too "pulpy" for my liking So I bought an Omega 8006, and i couldn't be happier... It's a masticating juicer that uses an auger .. it's super quiet and get way more juice out of what i put in it than any other juicer I've used.. which is nice because produce is expensive so it saves me a ton Regarding juice that tastes like baby food... I've found that if you stick to juice recipes you find online (or anywhere else) you usually do ok.... when you go to experimenting with your own concoctions prepare to be disappointed ;) ... but sometimes you happen on something that really works.... for example i found Kale & Pineapple REALLY work well together... If you do decide to go for it I'm sure me and several of the people who posted above can set you us with some recipes that taste pretty good!
  7. when i saw the subject to this thread i thought "I wonder if it's that same video link i saw under one of The Oatmeal's status today!" .. It is! suprised it made it past facebook's censorship robots. probably only a matter of time before this sort of thing blows up all over the place. It's already happened to reddit & 4chan
  8. Gatorade made the energy drink list??? and redline didn't?? real men drink redline!
  9. No we are talking about BigFoot. ++++++++++++
  10. Crazy bastard.... Looking forward to the day we cross paths!
  11. I did mine at DeLand with Supafly skydiving, but we used the same gear as students going thru the DZ or Skydive U. Now I haven't been to a ton of DZs, so I don't much to compare against, But there were always several students there every day, and I didn't meet any that mentioned having a problem finding suitable gear, or anyone that was waiting around for gear. What I did like was that anytime we were ready to go up, we never had to wait more than 15-20 minutes for a slot (with the exception of weather holds). So while I can't say anything + or - for Zhills (other than i plan to get down there soon!) I can tell you I was very happy with my experience at DeLand and enjoyed training with PJ thru the whole process
  12. Another reason to avoid the clouds :D http://www.npr.org/2013/01/29/170459317/bird-plane-bacteria-microbes-thrive-in-storm-clouds
  13. Yep, it won't be long and I'll be pulling the decals off, But it sure has been handy in the mean time!
  14. I just started myself, And I decided to go with an Alti-2 Galaxy. I bought it used thru the classifieds here so i picked it up for under $100. Here's why I picked it as a newbie * Established Company - I know if I have problems with it, Alti-2 will most likely still be here to help me out (Plus i live in DeLand, so it's local) * Analog altimeter - While i realize anything can break, I know my eyes are not yet the best judge of altitude, so I did not want anything that depends on batteries as my primary altimeter * Field replaceable lens - I know my landings are going to suck, I know I'm clumsy in the plane, and I haven't even started group dives yet... So i know it's only a matter of time before the lens is scratched or broken, so it's nice to know "I" can fix it for $10 * Glow Face - Night jumps are a long way off.. but it's nice to know the altimeter I bought as a newbie will still be useful later on as well I will say that I hate that it's pretty much worthless once you get below 200ft (the width of the needle is about 100ft).. I think it would be nice to have a digital when it comes time to land... however I also think that's an area where I really need to train my eyes, so it's probably for the best Another thing I like about my galaxy having a removable lens, is that it allowed me to somewhat customize the face.. I didn't want to do anything extreme, but when i was going thru AFF I found myself looking at my altimeter.. but not always READING my altimeter... so I wanted a reminder that 5.5 was time to pull ... so i made some tiny vinyl decals and added them to the face, pics attached With all that said, this doesn't mean it's the best altimeter for you, but those are the reasons i chose it for me
  15. I keep seeing mentions of something called a Peregrine... Most recently on the PD factory team FB page ... http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10151221899316569&set=a.167683431568.115808.119004076568&type=1&relevant_count=1 and Jay Moledzki's fan page on FB changed it's profile pic to some sort of sweet peregrine like logo http://www.facebook.com/pages/Jason-Moledzki-Athlete/287468661307620 I tried to do my homework first so i wouldn't ask a stupid question... but the only thing i could find was again something from facebook... Blueskies magazine commented on PD's page saying Anybody got any ideas? is this some new top secret canopy?
  16. Now I've heard folks compare skydiving to sex, and don't get me wrong, I find skydiving exhilarating! But I don't think I wanna trade 1 for the other :D I knew I could count on you guys to get me thru this! So far I managed to buy some time by telling her it'll be better once I was thru AFF (didn't help that I repeated level 3 twice) ... and now that I graduated I'm telling her it'll get better once I get my own gear and can stop paying rental... I may be back for a new excuse one I'm able to pull that trigger
  17. So maybe it's because i'm new to the sport, and hopefully this will get better as I progress. But was hoping to get some pointers, or tips from the experts! I really don't know what the deal is, I get excited on the mornings I wake up knowing that i'm headed to the DZ. Even more so when I stop by manifest and put myself on a load. Even while gearing up i start to visualize the dive & make a dive plan to try and get some more items checked off towards my A. I still step onto the mock up before ever jump so i can plan my exits ahead of time... But the 1 thing about this sport that still scares the hell out of me, is walking thru door of my house when i'm done for the day and having my wife ask how much I spent how do ya'll handle this??
  18. As a student who took recently took an ass spanking from a big planet during AFF (ok more than 1), I think this will actually reduce some fear at landing. I flared a too soon and as as soon as I realized it, I was commited to PLF. It wasn't until you described the pitch change that i really understood how/why I landed on my ass when I felt i was perfectly positioned for a good planned PLF Of course I'll be talking to my instructors before I do anything new, But the video made a lot of sense to me & I'm excited to try it under canopy.
  19. I'm new to the sport, but my AFF instructor is primarily a freefly coach. He's based out of Deland, but I know he travels to tunnels in other locations for coaching from time to time so it's worth looking into. http://www.supaflyskydiving.com/
  20. I 2nd that! I'm currently in the middle of doing my AFF with PJ. Great guy! Once I get this belly flying thing down I'm gonna work with him even more to learn to freefly
  21. I prefer to head a little further south than most of the beaches mentioned above, especially if you want remoteness. Check out Port Aransas. It's a little harder to find something "ON" the beach there, but it a really cool little town (it's getting harder & harder to find somethign on the beach anywhere in TX due to TOBA... but that's not a bad thing)
  22. Completed AFF 1 & 2 today. Went well, just need to work on my legs and really slow down my dive flow as I rushed some things today. Hopefully the weather will place nice tomorrow so I can get a couple more jumps in!
