  1. i'm no TI, just a student ... but i would go with a standard 20% if he does a great job & makes it memorable. Don't forget the camera guy too
  2. sounds like he's planning on surgery anyway, so even if the landing is biffed and he destroys it he's in the same boat!
  3. "The problem with internet quotes is that you cant always depend on their accuracy" -Abraham Lincoln, 1864.
  4. I don't see it. I know folks who freesfly well, but don't swoop. I know folks who swoop but don't free fly, and then i know some that do both. With that said, most of the serious swoopers I've met don't seem to spend a ton of time doing much freeflying or on their belly. Granted my jump number is laughable at best, but I've never been on a load where Curt Bartholomew went any higher than 5k
  5. Alexander Polli was suppose to do a wingsuit demo today over St.Louis but it looks like it's been put on hold.. Makes me wonder if "security" is just an excuse http://www.ksdk.com/news/article/394461/3/Alexander-Polli-grounded
  6. Oh don't get me wrong, I'm in no hurry to downsize. I did assume that I would go back to a smaller canopy, just because I know if I had shown up for AFF weighing in at 175, I know i would have started out on something smaller than a nav 260 Like I said, I am interested everyone's opinion.... and it's sounding like i need to stick with the same canopy even after dropping 50lbs
  7. Great question! i've been wondering the same thing. I'm still in the process of getting my "A", but due to a motorcycle accident i just had to have my ALC reconstructed so i'm grounded for 6 months or so. I decided that i needed to lose some weight myself to take some of the strain off of my recovering knee ... My last skydive i was 225lbs and jumping a 260, I'm already down to 205lbs now, and am hoping to be in the neighborhood of 175lbs or so by the time i'm able to get in the sky again so i'm assuming that i'll be looking at a significantly smaller canopy when i go back, so i'm interested to see what the DZ hivemind has to say
  8. i used the ORL tunnel during my AFF and found it useful, however I did have to work a bit and really push my shoulders forward in order to get lift At the time I thought the same thing as you. However after i got in the sky & bought a N3A to log data from my jumps I found out my average Freefall speed is 140-150 MPH ... so the problem wasn't the tunnel, the problem was me being short and hefty, So then I started incorporating the same body position i used in the tunnel to slow my freefall speed. from talking to other jumpers that travel a lot Orlando is a decent tunnel, but it's not the best. If you want a fast tunnel with lots of room head up to Paraclete. I've heard good things about colorado too
  9. that was my thoughts as well... If he had to go to south america to do it like Travis Pastrana did for his chuteless jump i'd consider it much more risky... but if he got clearance for it in the states it has to be illusion than stunt We all know any skydive can always go sideways, and adding anything to it only increases that chance, so no doubt this is a risky stunt.... but I bet there's a plan b, c & d in place for them to have gotten the clearance to do it
  10. Well.. remember how I said it sucked a lot less than i thought it was gonna .. i take that back, day 1 really wasn't that bad, all the hospital drugs made it go by fast and hazy... the next couple of days were really bad. I keep running into this cycle where percocet can't keep up with the pain, but if i take more percocet i'm gonna get sick... I knew this was gonna suck, but i underestimated the suckiness! with all that complaining today does seem to be an improvement, i've taken less drugs and seem to be in less pain, but i'm still in no shape to rejoin the world just yet
  11. All in all it sucked a lot less than i thought it was gonna! I declined getting a nerve block because i was afraid a completely dead leg would make it extremely hard to get from my car to my bed when I got home (i live on a small farm, not the smoothest terrain in the world to navigate.. and since i declined the nerve block they really took care of me before I left... all in all i got a cocktail of Demerol, Fentanyl, & Dilaudid before they turned me loose so i was feeling pretty good. With that said, all those wonderful drugs are starting to wear off and now I'm relying on a cryo-cuff ice pack and some percocet now.. so i'm not out of the woods yet
  12. I'm going cadaver so hopefully it won't be so bad. Thanks for the info! And thanks again for the well wishes guys, I'm about to head out and get this thing done. I'll try and follow up with a drug fueled post this evening to let ya know how it went!
  13. The thread title says it all. I destroyed my ACL when I wrecked my motorcycle a month ago. I haven't been able to walk without crutches since, So tomorrow they're building me a new one. I know a bunch of you guys have been thru this before, so on a scale of 1-10 how bad is this gonna suck?
  14. wonder how that would go over here in the states... I've got 16 outside right now and need to thin the herd... may have to show up at the hogflop boogie with one of 'em in a couple of months
  15. Can't jump with that door! :D
  16. I'm still VERY new.. but it looked like brake fire followed by line twists... but i'm probably wrong
  17. You'll be hard pressed to find a better bunch of folks than the guys at Palatka!
  18. I may be the odd man out.. but frankly I don't care where the money goes. They could blow the whole wad on hookers & weed. I already have all the details i need, my $35 give me a 1 in 500 chance at getting me fully equipped It's all well & good that there are plenty of noble charities out there... and they aren't implying in any way this is a charitable cause... Most likely it's to pay for jump tickets and transportation to events/swoop comps etc... but who cares
  19. LOL i was just giving you a hard time for not making your image inline .. I mean you can't expect folks you can't make their links clickable to take the effort to click & open your attachment
  20. now you just need this one :) 1 attach file in the usual manner 2 manually enter this little bit of short code see pic [inline How_to_make_your_image_appear_inline.jpg]
