  2. I have heard the philosophy of that particular DZ explained to me recently. please note this is all hearsay but it made sense at the time. 1. The extra money goes directly to the TM for agreeing to take the heavier student. The TM needs to be more alert. Able to flare on his own if it is a "weak heavy person" and any other inherent risk involved. 2. for this part this comes down to economics. The Dz that you speak of does a lot of Tandems. Most (first time) students won't really know the difference between the high load and the lower one due to the fact that they are already overwhelmed with what is going on. Now that that has been established it isn't worth the wear and tear on the canopy during the terminal opening with your "heavy" people. That increased wear and tear could cause the DZO have to ground a rig prematurely while fixing whatever and in the meantime he would have to turn away tandems that he could have put up had he not let "heavies" go to 13000.. not necessarily fair but it makes sense to me. age S.E.X. party #2 ..It is far worse to live with fear, than to die confronting it.
  3. vicki I spoke to RI this morning and they said that all manufacturers have used capewell assemblies or pins in the past so if you had your rig within the dates mentioned then get it tested. age S.E.X. party #2 ..It is far worse to live with fear, than to die confronting it.
  4. happens from time to time at my DZ too.. I think that they are just curious about the "big bright birds" that they are sharing the sky with.. Age S.E.X. party #2 ..It is far worse to live with fear, than to die confronting it.

  10. Get smarter friends who are humble enough to respect the advice of others that may know more. Somebody telling them something that they haven't thought through all the way may save their life. Though unrequested advice can be annoying I think it is important to at least listen. What you do with it afterwards is up to you. 11. I still remember a portion in one of our PIMS that stresses that each jumper is ultimately responsible for his/her safety... the scenario illustrated does nothing to change that. Age S.E.X. party #2 ..It is far worse to live with fear, than to die confronting it.
  12. not to hijack the thread or anything but my curiosity is getting the better of me.... what is your point? Age S.E.X. party #2 ..It is far worse to live with fear, than to die confronting it.

  23. Got to disagree with you there drew. I have flown a spectre 135 that litterally snivelled for almost 1000 ft. As in initiation at 2500ft in the saddle between 1700-1400ft.. we used to joke that if it seemed like it wasn't going to open to reach for the cutaway handle cause the canopy didn't like to be cut away and it would open. nice and soft though. I was careful never to pull low when using his gear. Age S.E.X. party #2 ..It is far worse to live with fear, than to die confronting it.
  24. Is this a common problem with them? I have a voodoo 2.0 as well and this isn't a problem for me. The tuck tabs at the riser covers are very similar to my DZO's Talon from 5 years ago and his don't come undone either. In fact they are only slightly looser than mine and he has done a whole pile of jumps on that rig... Age S.E.X. party #2 ..It is far worse to live with fear, than to die confronting it.
