Hi all. Though I haven't read the new USPA material it seems like they are following suit to what the CSPA did last year. CSPA added a new proficiency level called the Solo Certificate. It doesn't come with a card or a number as far as I know and there is no written test. The test is Oral and 25 questions long. The student must Ace this test to receive their certificate. I ride a motorcycle to the DZ sometimes and I wear a fairsized backback. I have got myself several times as I prepared to get on the bike feeling around the bottom of the pack to be sure that my hackey is reachable... Also I heard a story of a fellow at my DZ who went skiing with his kids the first winter after he started jumping, and took a jump lost his balance and ended up airborne for a few seconds. Being that we was falling through the air he arched!! After he landed in a heap with a brokened rib or 2 his 13 year old sun skis over to him and says "...wrong sport dad..." Priceless... My DZO used to read books, magazines, newspapers all the time on the way to altitude... used to freak me out when I was a student until I too could relax to the point of sleeping in the plane and then I understood... Pop, That really sux. If they are your real friends they will understand that this is what you do. It took my friends a while to get used to the fact that from friday afternoon to sunday night that if they wanted to call me they would have to get me at the DZ. They are used to it now but in the summer we don't see each other as much. thank god for MSN and the fact that I moved in with another friend. Tell them to come jump.. At Our DZ Winnipeg Skydiving Centre We pay $26 CDN for a 9000ft load in our 182. you get a deal if you buy 50 tix early in the season if I am not mistaken it costs around $1000. I don't know for sure cause I have never had that much money at one time to spend on jump tix. Starving student that I was... One of my fellow jumpers caught a bootie on our 182 earlier this year. Fortunately for him the thread s ripped almost immediately causing no damage the the leather at all on the bottom of his bootie which was also a boon.
