Though I have never had to deal with that one personally I have seen the phonomenon in action. I say bring them out. If you are being yourself with them. They will either get it or not and then you'll know if that part of the selection process is in order. You have a simple built in test. If they don't pass cut them away and send them back to whuffoland. At least this way you don't have to be 2 people for them.. Welcome to the Dropzone dating life. This happens and from my experience can happen quite frequently. I am in a similar situation. My current GF is a Skydiver and so is my Ex. There is only one DZ in the area and we both jump there. I decided that we are there to jump and it doesn't have to be uncomfortable.Our DZ is pretty small I would say about 30 regular jumpers and of them it is not uncommon to find some similarity in passed love interests. This next quote sounds kinda callous but it can be the reality due to the limited number of non-whuffo partners that are available. I am not really sure where it originated either. [size 2] "..if you lose your skydiver girlfriend, you haven't lost a girlfriend, you've just lost your turn.." (girls insert boyfriend where appropriate) Hang in there with your "2 out" at the DZ situation. It will get easier and more fun. Good for you... I am glad that things are working for you and I think that that is the way it should be. I watch too many people give up who they are for men/women. This trancends skydiving but that is a big one. I don't know if I can ever go out with a whuffo seriously again. My girlfriend now is a skydiver and she understands that I like to be at the DZ as early as I can on Friday and leave as late as I can manage on Sunday. She is cool with that even when she wants to stay in town on one day or another and there are no hard feelings when I say something like: "IF you have to leave early from the DZ then we should find separate ways there." I can't see this happening with a whuffo. At my DZ a few have succumbed recently... Now keep in mind that I don't necessarily have all of the info on theses cases but that is what it looks like from my vantage point. A Good friend who fell on hard times and stopped jumping last year is jumping again this year (yeah) but is going to Cuba with his GF instead of Arizona to Skills camp this winter because (direct quote from GF) " I deserve a vacation too" Sad...Sad.... I think I am rambling here so I'll stop but the point is be yourselves skydiving or otherwise and remeber that somethings really can't be/shouldn't be compromised. That is an interesting question. I am now sitting here hoping to find an Oxford definition of Citizen. I have always thought that it was the concatination of the words "city" and the suffix "izen" which can be found in the word denizen and means to live there. Well. A little update. Jimmy came out to the DZ and swooped a tandem on the first load of the day as planned. Even got involved in a little 3-way competition that was going on that day on the DZ. (he even did a downwinder trying to get as close to the target for his team...) Just a really down to earth guy and I recommend that any DZO that gets a call from their publicist or whoever does the calling asking if he can come jump there/ run a contest for the DZ, accept. In fact during the radio interview that was held there he promotes more about skydiving than he did his own band.. Everything Skydiving related is expensive in canada... between the exchange rate and the border it is a wonder anyone buys equipment... my friend just bought a jumpsuit brand new and by the time the candian gov got their 96$ + shipping +rush +exchange he paid 700CDN for it... I think that I will probably get a Z1 too.. I have to wait until next year when I have more money cause the exchange and taxes that we have to pay to get one up here make them stupidly expensive. My GF got one and when all was said and done it cost 508CDN, may too much for me. Though my friend in Italy says that he can bring me one on his next trip up and it will only cost me 330 or so... and yes he does come up quite frequently as his GF lives here..
