4 pointsDo you mean the 15% voting capacity of the USPA members who even care to vote. Ironically watching over the voting options alot of the time you have ONE candidate to vote for, so much for getting the right guy in there. It seems people who hold some sort of business in the sport really pushes for these power trip positions to push their business above the rest. I bet they could even kill a USPA member and just say it was an accident with no real action taken against them, hahhhmmmm
-
3 pointsSome people call it a "power trip posistion". Other people would say that they are people who care enough about the sport that they want to do the work required to move the organization forward. Most people don't care enough to even bother voting. USPA could use a good shot of openness on this and some other matters. USPA seems to have over reacted here and appears to be dragging their heels and refusing to admit to making a mistake.

2 pointsOMG....we were screwing around with freepacking. My FIRST square jump, on a brand new rig...freepacked 7-cell Unit. Turned into my first malfunction, first cutaway, and first reserve ride. Immedeately put the bag back on it, no issues after that.

1 pointThat's because about 70% of Republicans are too stupid to realize that Fox "News" is in fact Fox Entertainment. https://www.poynter.org/fact-checking/2022/70-percent-republicans-falsely-believe-stolen-election-trump/

1 pointYeah, good luck with that. We both know that most skydivers simply do not care unless they are directly affected. Pointing things out here may make a few more people aware and that may help a little. No organization ever voluntarily increases it's own accountability. Although they may decide to hold others accountable.

1 pointShe also used to refer to the "reich wing", which I though was over the top. But with all that has happened in the past 6 years, I now realize she was absolutely correct.

1 pointBack in the day, cigs were sold at all VA facilities eg VA Hospital commissaries. Raleighs were often featured because of promotions. Sometimes 13 cents a pack or even $1.30 per carton. Other brands .25 per pack. $2.50 per carton. I know because I worked in several research labs housed at VA Hospital Iowa City during that period. Raleighs were heavily promoted vs other brands. The same at military bases. Almost everybody smoked including doctors ... cigs were sold at commissaries on State and University properties and on military bases. The whole US economy was different back then vs today! People's economic outlook was different back then - that is one reason why Cooper asking 200k stands out vs just a few years later. Cooper was part of the old WWII economy vs just a decade later after the mid 70s Arab Oil Embargo sent the US and world economy into recession. The world economy literally changed just a few years after 1971-72 The middle 70s changed the world economy-politics ushering in Reaganism and we still havent recovered! Cooper's grudge had to be political. There is no escaping that!

1 pointWorking in Tech and DoD environments has given me some interesting experiences. At a defense security event a few years ago, I was talking to a rep from a chemical company. I was curious why they were attending. He said simply, let me show you. He touched the back of my hand with a swab, my brain immediately had me salivating with pure lemon flavor. The is just our demo material, with a few winks. Damn.

1 pointHey thanks BIGUN for tagging my post. Seemedontu like I said in my thread stick to your doc's instructions on healing. I took 4 months off from jumping but if your doc says 6 go with what they say. As far as anything else I've learned. 1: I had the hardest opening since I joined the sport a few months after I posted that thread and I was ok, at the time I was actually more worried I had damaged my neck. But everything was OK. 2: I'm pretty selective on who I jump with, if the exit is linked or docks to be made I make sure the person that grabs my left arm knows to let it go if stuff turns into a zoo. I don't want those leads jerked out for sure. 3. Last year a jumper your age from Alabama that got a pacemaker reached out to me and he seems to be doing well back in the sport as well. The 3 of us should get together and set a state record or something Hope that helps, cheers!

1 pointStill unsure why we didn't just ask the Jews to use their space lasers to shoot them down.

1 pointNot trying to hijack the thread, but I was digging through some old issues of Parachutist, and saw a 4-way team called Bearded Clam Diggers. There was a Crw team called Four Skins.

1 pointA couple of my jumping buddies would routinely mess with me and would say "you're gonna die with that rig!" Seriously though, I really loved my SST's they were comfortable, light, and the pull-out and bridle routing was about as simple and clean as it gets.

1 pointAnd then there is Mars with the M2. Just quietly doing their thing with no drama and no issues. (touch wood)

1 pointI've read through the PDF twice and unless I missed something why was Garmashov revoked in the first place? It was Pooley who forged Garmashov's name to the tandem certification. And unless Garmashov told Pooley to forge his name, I don't get it.

1 pointMy first rig was an SST and a heavy Cloud that was freepacked. Glad I never saw my deployments from that angle. Please don't dent the planet. Destinations by Roxanne

1 pointI don't know.. but I sure as hell never want to jump one of those things at terminal again. It's probably one of the reasons why I have some pretty painful arthritis in my back now. That friggin thing used to give me nosebleeds every few jumps. But ya know.... at the time.. it seemed like a good idea...hell who expected to live past 30 anyway
-
1 pointI used to freepack... well actually flat pack then S fold my Parafoil into my Green Star. I got really tired of the 1800' opening "snivel" with the wierd sleeve thingie it had plus the spider slider that has a bridal attached to the X shaped webbing with the large grommets, and the bridal went up and connected to pilot chute, which was supposed to slow down the opening after the whole mess came out of the"sleve" AT least with the sleeve gone.... the opening was a bit more positive... so positive in fact I broke the steering lines off of the damn thing about every 10 to 15 jumps. I did get really good at rear riser landings though
