I wish the mods would stop feeding him and would start swinging the ban hammer. At some point it is for betterment of the site and the experience of all the other legitimate users.

Would also be interesting to know if any other conflict de-escalation techniques were used. I have no doubt that a firearm can be useful in obtaining a successful outcome of a challenging situation. Doesn't mean every challenging situation requires a firearm to obtain a successful outcome.

Most upbeat article I've read so far. Forbes: The Russian Army Is Losing A Battalion Every Day As Ukrainian Counterattacks Accelerate Worse still, captures account for half the Russian vehicle losses. The Ukrainian army in just the last week and a half has seized enough Russian tanks, fighting vehicles and artillery to equip an entire brigade. In other words, the Ukrainian army actually has more vehicles now than it did before launching its counteroffensives.

Yeah don't blame the religious right for taking away rights, blame Democrats for allowing it to happen.... Until republicans are willing to acknowledge there might be a gun problem and are willing to have meaningful discussions, nothing will happen. You can blame Democrats for that too I guess....

In Canada we are probably stuck with the monarchy for the foreseeable future. Moving away from it would need a change to the constitution and Canada is a pretty fragile coalition between Quebec and the rest of us. It's best to let sleeping dogs lie sometimes.

And there you have it. At this point, practically, that's pretty much all the Royal family is. Head of state - sure, but no real teeth to do anything. CiC Armed forces - sure, likewise Defender of the Faith and Supreme Governor of the Church of England - honestly, who cares. It's a legacy of centuries and centuries of history, and rightly or wrongly, a lot of what makes up the image of the UK. They bring in more money than is spent on them. As a current UK resident, I honestly couldn't care less. Plus, I just got a much needed extra days pulic holiday on Monday because of the queens funeral.

Well....the trouble with the monarchy is completely different from the problem with a populist politician. Institutional nepotism in choosing a Head of State is offensive to many people. Other people love the "tradition". For some unfathomable reason.

Why? Harry and the Dotard would both seem equally unprepared and unqualified. The monarchy is kind of quaint and relatively harmless. But completely useless except as a tourist attraction. Rather like a circus to distract the population.

Fuck Putin. He deserves no off ramp. The best outcome would be for him to fall out of a hospital window, and for Nevalney to be released from prison and allowed to run in a fair election.

Rumor has it that Lieutenant General Roman Berdnikov was in church every day since his appointment. He reaction when told about his dismissal. "Da there is a God." He immediately beat feet to 50km inside Russia. Muttering something about "Damn Amerikanski HIMARS"

It is still both amazing and unbelievable that Russia is managing to lose this war. Gives me a little hope for the world.
