  3. To add to what PC said, I will say you will need to learn to fly with canopy traffic also. This IMO is equally as important. If you are still a student, you probably don’t have to focus on this while landing yet which is a good thing as you need to focus on landing safely. When you get licensed and jump with 20 plus canopies flying around trying to land in the same area, things change. Some folks are flying much faster and others much slower. Safely getting into the pattern is crucial to avoid a canopy collision or a low altitude mistake. Take this into consideration as you decide what is best for you and the others you will be flying with. Watching and talking to more experienced jumpers will be a great benefit. BTW, what is your exit weight? That will help determine a safe canopy size.

  6. I agree with what you said in your response, and how you said it. Don't give it another thought. Plenty of people do hop-n-pops without jumpsuits on, including putting students out, so it's not like it's a BSR violation. For reference, here is me getting ready for my clear and pull from 2002, rocking a, yes, t-shirt. And plenty of student jumpsuits are baggier than tight-fitting t-shirt would be.

    MUTATION

    Soooooo, I had the pleasure of flying this one piece wonder last week and it was pretty much everything I expected it to be: AWESOME! I can only compare it too the other "tracking suits" I've flown, the Phoenix Fly PTS and Squirrel Sausage. The two piece suit I LOVED. Bought it brand new and jumped it like crazy in preparation for Wingsuiting. (which i highly recommend if you aim to join the flock one day...) The Sausage however was purchased second hand (third actually) and In my opinion should be scraped all together. NOT stable enough for my liking and sent me into turns I didn't want! THE MUTATION however is, how I describe: a wingless wingsuit! Super stable and go's where you want! I don't have any flysight feedback unfortunately but when I'm ready for another tracking suit, this is the one. (I'm sure the onesie is just as, if not better in the glide department. I fly squirrel for reasons...) Happy tracking.

  13. Students don't need to deal about buying a jumpsuit -- that's normally supplied by the dropzone. When you are going off student status, then you can start worrying about all that. Jumpsuits for flying on one's belly also have grippers so one can dock for formations. Still useful for students, if doing AFF, or learning to fly one's first formations with an instructor or coach.

    My DZ has an arrow, which can be rotated up until exit. As soon as the pilot gives the 2 minutes call, the CTL will no longer move the arrow. Our landing site is split in 2 halves (with a 20m buffer in the center) and you can choose left or right-handed circuits, but everyone lands in the same direction. There's a sign with the current landing direction at the boarding area, but everyone is advised this can change while in the plane, especially since the landing site is roughly 3km away from the actual landing site...

    Big early cleaning job this morning, (folks moving into new home this week) so I thought I would update on the Castle Rock (WA) search. We're starting to get a lot more interest this week, ever since the video and the Quora post. (Cooper Space at Quora posts are emailed to over 700 followers, most of whom read the articles in their email.) We now have a dozen folks committed to this project, with more joining each day. I've recruited a few people from Infamous Nissan, some of whom plan to buy a detector and maybe even a pointer. I told them if they can't do that, at least bring gloves, a garden trowel, and a spaghetti drainer. Doug Kenck-Crispin at Oregon Kick Ass History liked the video. I haven't formally invited him yet, but I will do so this weekend and send him a comprehensive overview of the project. I noticed the nasty posts about me personally are starting to drop off at Mountain News. They are discussing the location of the placard there a bit more than the personal stuff I usually see, and that's good. I tried inviting Bruce S and wasted my time. No worries. Many others are ready to take his place. The negativity angle for Cooperland in 2019 is absolutely dead these days. People are TIRED of it. No names. You know who you are. The positive vibes at Dropzone are encouraging. Negativity goes nowhere. What the public wants after 45+ years are voices, events, positive stuff...not extraneous junk. Trust me on this one. This year could be a breakthrough year but people need to work together in a positive manner. The public isn't interested otherwise. They're a fickle sort with a short-to-medium attention span. Remember: We will meet in Castle Rock on Friday morning June 21. Anyone not on the list to go will not be allowed to go. Since we're taking responsibility with Weyerhauser through their Land Use Manager, that's the way it is. Anyone is welcome to participate, but you must contact me first and sign up. I wish I could just make it a free for all, but that's not how it works. Anyone who doesn't understand the sensibility of this plan shouldn't even apply to go. Fifty days until the cutoff date, and I think I will have to start turning people away weeks prior to that date. So if you are serious, you should not wait long to make your move. Slots are filling fast, and even though the land owners gave me a bit of leeway on the number of people, I might cut apps off at any time. I may HAVE to. I can only feed so many people at the BBQ.

  18. More protection on landing. Less snag hazards. Yes, controlling fall rate. The miltary has a saying, "Train like you fight." Works here too. Less prone to covering a handle? Old timers here will remember a post from Sangiro when his shirt did exactly that. And he knew what he was doing.

    Thanks Rob, yeah i don't plan on free flying anytime soon. My goal this year is to get into a wingsuit and keep working on my belly skills. If I did freefly then I'd definitely buy a container designed for that discipline deployment @ 160+mph doesn't sound like fun especially with a Hornet.

    Vampire Sukhoi 3

    The vampire sukhoi 3 (SU3) has been designed for pilots who want the maximum proximity flying performance combined with high powered glide and speed. The SU-3 is a high performance continuation of the tried and tested vampire series.   27. So I've been dealing with the topic for a long time. I think you have to assess the danger on the basis of the fatalitys that you can not influence yourself. When I'm risking driving a car, I increase my chances of dying just as if I jumped risky. If you look at the skydiving only the accidents that happen through material failure and you can not influence the accident rate would have to be almost 0 while, for example, when driving is still exposed to a higher risk by the many other road users.
