yes skydive dallas does take them, the "manager" there is very proud to take them. interesting because the owner Lee S. is on the USPA board.

the DZ there in dallas has been going down hill for the last few years and is only fitting that they resort to doing business with that lot.
forrest, forrest gump

This statement is correct in regards to Skyride, Dallas does take it. I remember that now, you may add them to your list.
Thanks Airgump

There is a dz in texas that i was planning on spending a load of money before the game on jumping. Fuck that, i am not supporting no skyride affiliation. So, what dz's in Texas do not support skyride so we can plan accordingly

Pure speculation here but I would guess once one DZ starts taking them in an Area (yes, I know California is a HUGE Area but basically it breaks down to Nor-cal (SF and the bay area) and So-Cal (LA and San Diego Area), The others start thinking if they dont they will loose business.

I believe Skydance does (did?) as well, so if so, that would be all the Bay Area players besides Lodi (pity the fool who takes a skyride ticket there and sees the $100 tandem price). I've seen other services selling tandems for Monterey Bay at Sportsbasement, but there was nothing untoward about it.

Still trying to verify whether DeLand does or not accept the certificates.

BUT - in the "FWIW" Dept.: We were doing a road trip up North "to Crosskeys and beyond" a while back, and realized we were near the Skyride's DZ in Perkasie, PA, so we decided to swing by and have a little look. Morbid curiosity, I guess. We sat in the parking lot for about 20 minutes & watched a couple of loads.

The Twin Otter they were using that day for those loads was clearly marked: "Skydive DeLand."

That's all I know, but I did see it with my own eyes.

Actually, I think they are the only NorCal DZ to NOT accept Skyride certificates. All the others probably just fear that Lodi would take all the business if they didn't accept them.

Are you sure Perris Valley accepts Skyride certificates? I was at the Group Membership Meeting in 2005 where the owner of Perris Valley, Melanie Castner, stood up and told all those in attendence that they were going to immediately stop taking certificates from Skyride and would never take them again. She got a standing-ovation from all the 100+ dropzone owners/staff in attendence.

Did she lie?

I would guess that at that time she wasn't intentionally telling a lie (though looking back now, it may appear that way), but rather may have been caught up at the moment, and later came to the conclusion that taking the certificates was in their best interest. It may have been...short-term, that is. They will get screwed in the end. What happens when they get the call that "so-and-so just a few miles farther are doing it for this rate now, can you match or beat that?"

It just bothers me that the bigger dz's in CA choose to take these tandem students at an obvious discounted rate, and wait on payment from the broker who is making money from nothing other than blatant deception (which they themselves are inadvertently promoting by participation).

Rather than standing together as a unified front, they choose to compromise their positions, and their possible income from making a moral and ethical pact with one another is lost to the third-party's deceptive tactics.

Sadly, I do not believe they realize that the money they lose in this juggling (or, money that is withheld from them from these consumers) is at the same time being used to pay the lawyers to sue their own organization which issues their ratings and group memberships - they are, in essence, paying the attorneys' fees of those that are bringing suit against their own governing body, which they are already paying into as Group Members. They are paying for the ridiculous case against themselves.

They should be ashamed.
