You've been a skydiver for a while if...

Recommended Posts

...you remember jumpers moving up to the front of Beech 18's and DC-3's for takeoff. I can remember standing up between seated jumpers for takeoff and climb-out to keep CG forward on those planes, with the back third of the plane empty. We'd hit 1500 feet and the pilot would give the "all clear" to go your seat.

Of course, back then it wasn't dangerous.

Your turn - you've been a skydiver for a while if.....

...you brought your girlfriend to the DZ to hold tension.

...you wore coveralls to make a jump rather than to work under your car.

...you pulled a sleeve over your canopy before putting it into the container.

...you were thrilled to see someone in freefall.

...you were glad to have whuffos on the DZ because they chased sleeves, went for coffee and brought back dropped ripcords.

you know what bungees are. and how to correctly use and secure them. and also how to NOT connect them... (can anyone say "total" ) [:/]

you realize that B 4,, has nothing to do with bingo...:)
you still have a pair of PARA-BOOTS, kicking around , somewhere in a closet.

you skydived with a BELL motorcycle helmet, WITH your NAME stenciled on the forehead...

You had your name on a label, sewn onto the pin cover flap of your 24' flat circular.

You KNow what a 24' flat circular IS...;)

you recall when "a cheapo", did NOT mean someone, who fails to buy his/her case of beer,,, when it's required...:(

square..... meant an "uncool Daddio":P

you remember when 'kicker plates' were FIRST introduced..AND resisted the whole idea of pilot chute launched reserves....

you know the difference between "2-shots and shot-and-a-halves"... AND you could properly assemble a set...

you used a wad of rubber band on your main ripcord, as a 'stop'...

Down wind....... was the Only way to shoot accuracy...:o:S:ph34r:

lift tickets were 'a buck a thousand'

You thought that a POD was a 'revolutionary state of the art' improvement in gear...

3 ring circus,, was where you took the kids, on a rainy saturday...

you could buy a Hop & pop for 3 bucks

A "3 pin Pioneer" was THE hot set up...

the term "whuffo" had not yet been invented

twin engine... meant your DZ had TWO cessnas

You upgraded your main container from cones to loops.

Your first jump course took 6 hours and didn't include cutaway training.

If you ever have borrowed a reserve.

The first piece of equipment you bought was a hockey helmet.

You landed your first square jumps in half brakes because "it lands just like a round that way"

Your chest mount had an altimeter and a stop watch. (This one is real old. I only had an altimeter on mine)

You bought copies of "United We Fall", "The Art of Freefall Relative Work", and "Skies Call" while they were still being published.
