wolfriverjoe 1,340 #485 June 16, 2021 You have to remember that I do the same thing. Drive around the country, sleep in truck stops, rest areas and at customers. I've been in some pretty shady places. Detroit, Memphis, Cincinnati, Newark. No problems. Don't wander around after dark, park where there's lots of other trucks, that sort of thing. The only "First 48" I can think of with a truck driver was the one in Memphis where the driver was killed while parked on the street outside the customer. While I have done that (and in Memphis, too), I was outside a place where there was a gate guard on duty all night. And when he suggested I park on the street, he said it was fairly safe as long as I stayed in the truck (don't go wandering around) and that there would be someone on duty the whole night. I think he's been doing this for a while. He knows what he's doing. And Iowa? Muscatine? Sheesh. He's more likely to face a gang of raccoons wanting his food than gangbangers wanting his wallet. Phil1111 911 #486 June 25, 2021 What happens when you park your A/C in Florida at an airport. I'm sure the engineers in France had a chuckle about guns in America. A month down $6500 in repairs and probably another $15k in loss of value because it has a repair now. A BULLET HIT MY AIRPLANE!

brenthutch 383 #489 June 27, 2021 “A hundred and twelve years ago, in 1907...our great grandparents were first able to buy the rifle pictured. The semi-auto Winchester Model 1907. This is a gun they could buy from a Sears catalogue and have delivered via US Post. It was/ is a semi-automatic, high powered centerfire rifle, with detachable, high capacity magazine. About 400,000 semi-automatic rifles were produced before WW2. Civilians had hundreds of thousands of these for 40 years, while US soldiers were still being issued old fashioned bolt action rifles. The 1907 fired just as fast as an AR15 or AK47 and the bullet (.351 Winchester) was actually larger than those fired by the more modern looking weapons.. The ONLY functional difference between the 1907 and a controversial and much feared AR15 is the modern black plastic stock. The semi auto, so-called "assault rifle" is 110 years old. It isnt new in any way. The semi auto rifle was not a weapon of war. The government MADE IT a weapon of war 40 years after civilians had them. The semi-auto can be safely owned by civilians. The proof is that literally 3 generations of adults owned and used them responsibly and no one ever even noticed. Want to fix the horror of mass shootings? Fix the things that have changed for the worse in the last 50 years. Family Values, Prayer from Schools, Ten Commandments from court houses, Spanking Kids, Morals, What is socially acceptable, Confusion on Genders, Left Wing Liberalism, Socialism, ect. billeisele 122 #499 June 29, 2021 So predictable. Laws on murder, rape, drunk driving and gun use already exist yet it continues. Making more laws will have little to no impact. If strong enforcement and consequences were used, if judges didn't simply drop charges, like they have done with the rioters, and if sentences were upheld, then maybe the number lawbreakers would decrease. Seems that there is little to no attention to the root cause of the violence. Until that is addressed there will be little change. This is not a blue or red problem it's an all citizens problem. Seems that there is little to no attention to the root cause of the violence. You seem to be implying that the root cause is the lack of post-violence enforcement, which to me translates as a lack of fear. But to me the root cause is the recognition of and anger over the power and financial differential between (in the US at least) most visibly minority groups (read color & facial features) and the diminishing in proportion white “majority.” Since demographic and historical evidence seem to support the thought that there is long term and systemic advantages built in for people who are already in power, especially visibly so, I’d have to say that the root cause is there. Removing the underlying reason for someone to riot takes care of most of the riots. Kind of like that tea party in Boston a couple hundred years ago. Wendy P.
