Ah.  So Trump didn't do it, the Democrats did.

Did Obama make Trump grab women by the pussy, too?

What part of “Trump’s.....trade policy.” did, you not understand?  I’m sure you would concede protectionist trade policies have long been the bailiwick of the Democrats. Sanders, Warren, Brown, Manchin etc.

Although there are protectionist on both sides, traditionally the majority have been Democrats.  (Although in this age of Trump, there are plenty of spineless Republicans that have joined the club)

I remember late 2007 when a right winger here posted "the D's picked a bad day to start crying the R word!"  A month later, we were in the Great Recession.

We are facing a possible recesssion brought on by Trump’s ignorant trade war. Trump has made hash out of relations with allies, sabotaged bipartisan support for Israel, been made to look foolish by  by Kim Jong Un, refused to take interest in securing our elections from Russian interference and aggravated a border crisis by cutting off aid to three Central American countries We have a wave of white nationalist violence, for which a large majority of Americans think he is at least somewhat to blame.

And now Trump apparently obsesses about buyingGreenland.  What with, more debt? He's already added $trillions to the national debt (the one he PROMISED to eliminate)."

It's worth quoting the article here:

COPENHAGEN (The Borowitz Report)—After rebuffing Donald J. Trump’s hypothetical proposal to purchase Greenland, the government of Denmark has announced that it would be interested in buying the United States instead.

“As we have stated, Greenland is not for sale,” a spokesperson for the Danish government said on Friday. “We have noted, however, that during the Trump regime, pretty much everything in the United States, including its government, has most definitely been for sale.”

“Denmark would be interested in purchasing the United States in its entirety, with the exception of its government,” the spokesperson added.

A key provision of the purchase offer, the spokesperson said, would be the relocation of Donald Trump to another country “to be determined,” with Russia and North Korea cited as possible destinations.

If Denmark’s bid for the United States is accepted, the Scandinavian nation has ambitious plans for its new acquisition. “We believe that by giving the U.S. an educational system and national health care, it could be transformed from a vast land mass into a great nation,” the spokesperson said.

Ya know?

If they were smart, they'd wait for Trump to declare bankruptcy.

It's abundantly clear he's following his typical 'business plan'.

Make huge promises.
Line his own pockets.
Run up huge debt.
(We are at that point already)

Next, declare bankruptcy.
Screw over all the creditors, contractors, vendors, employees & customers.
Sell everything for fire sale prices at auction (this is what Denmark should wait for).
Walk away (with all the money in his pocket from step 2).

I’m in full agreement.  I am continually amazed that the media ignores the fact that Trump is an idiot with the impulse control of a kindergartner. Everyone seems to think that he is some sort of Machiavellian evil genius, when, in my opined he is just a doofus.

It’s part of his master plan.  Buy Greenland, enhance global warming, melt the ice, gain access to trillions in nature resources and use the proceeds to pay off the debt.  Of course we would rename Greenland to Trumpland.

I can just see Greenlanders considering this.  Be under control of Denmark, who says things like "Greenland controls Greenland?"  Or be treated like Trump treats Puerto Rico?  I can just see Trump getting control of Greenland somehow, then within a year declaring that "you have totally grossly incompetent leadership at the top of  Greenland.  The leadership is corrupt and incompetent. . . . All that money we paid for Greenland was squandered and wasted and stolen.  Congress not happy about it!”

More trickle down.

Trump, Aug 13:

"And, by the way, steel — steel was dead.  Your business was dead.  Okay?  I don’t want to be overly crude.  Your business was dead.  And I put a little thing called “a 25 percent tariff” on all of the dumped steel all over the country.  And now your business is thriving.   . . . And I’ll tell you what: Those steel mills — U.S. Steel and all of them, all of them — they’re expanding all over the place.  New mills.  New expansions.  We hadn’t have — we didn’t have a new mill built in 30 years, and now we have many of them going up."

Reality, Aug 19:

U.S. Steel plans to lay off hundreds of workers in Michigan

CHICAGO (Reuters) - United States Steel Corp will temporarily lay off hundreds of workers at its Great Lakes facility in Michigan in coming weeks, according to a filing the steelmaker made with the State of Michigan. . . .

In mid-June, the company said it would idle two blast furnaces at its Great lakes and Gary Works plants, citing lower steel prices and softening demand.

U.S. Steel said the lay-offs at the Michigan plant could last beyond six months. They will impact nearly every area of the facility, from blast furnace to finishing operations, a company spokeswoman told Reuters.

Idling a blast furnace is a complicated and expensive proposition, not undertaken lightly.

Now Trump is "delaying" his Copenhagen cancelled!! trip because they won't sell.

WTAF.

The most fun part of this is watching the Trump apologists trip all over themselves.

"It was a joke.  What, do liberals have no sense of humor?"
"You know, people thought the Alaska purchase was a joke too - but that turned out to be a good thing!  Can't you liberals figure that out?"
"He's not _really_ serious about it, he was just floating the idea."
"Wait - he just cancelled his trip over it?  Well, uh - it wasn't REALLY over that.  That's just a . .  diversion.  Yeah, that's it."

Trumponomics works so well the deficit is now projected to rise an ADDITIONAL $800B over ten years.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/business/2019/08/21/us-deficit-expand-by-more-than-billion-over-years-than-previously-expected-cbo-says/?wpisrc=nl_most&wpmm=1

His latest suggestion is to cut capital gains tax.  Definitely helping the workers like he promised.

Unemployment 3.6%

Real wage growth for the first time in years, so yes, more proof of the success of trickle down.

When it comes to first term budget busting Obama is king the orange buffoon is in second place.

Obama deficit first term - $4.8 trillion

Obama deficit second term - $3.5 trillion

Trump deficit first term - $5.1 trillion (using his FY2020 budget)

Trump deficit second term - $9.1 trillion (using his own budget predictions)

It appears to have escaped your notice that the 2009 budget was Bush's last one, and that Obama was left with the task of getting us out of the Bush recession, the worst economic shambles since the 1930s.

Trump, OTOH, is running huge deficits at the same time as claiming that the economy is in wonderful shape.

Ya gotta love how Trump is claiming the economy is doing so well, while at the same time calling for the Federal Reserve Board to cut interest rates...

By a full point.

For those who don't follow economics, a full point rate cut is a rather drastic action, only taken while the economy is in a pretty severe recession.
