Alexandria Shooting: Shot heard around the world? [On Topic]

Ted has since swore off all ugly hate speech espousing violence.

Sworn off the day after someone from the other side takes the ugly advice he's been doling out for decades. Yeah, how convenient.

Let's see if he lasts through the midterms.

Are you sure he uses the N-word all the time? Or did you just here that from an un-named CNN source

Read this, genuinely read through it, then we'll see if you've got the balls to come back and apologise for trying to pretend that the man isn't a overt racist, or if you're too weaselly to ever admit when you're wrong.

There is a reason why psychologists have said it is unethical to give a diagnosis on a person from TV interviews and sound bites.

You say, in a thread in which you claim to be able to diagnose the fact that the entire democrat base is infected by spreading hatred of the right, based on a few isolated quotes by fringe groups.

Dude, you're so far down the rabbit hole you don't even realise there's a world outside it.

Mark Levin ran with that last week. He grabbed every soundbite he could of people insulting Trump to use as the proof that it was an issue spread across "The Left".

It's not very far off the mark, everyone on "The Left" thinks he's a joke and ridicules them. The issue he fails to state is that it's targeted at Trump, there were only a few people who elevated it above ridicule, and most importantly it does not reflect an opinion of Republicans. "The Left" is quite aware that many Republicans don't care for Trump either and see him as a bitter pill.

It would be nice if more Republicans had the cojones to stand up and say "the emperor has no clothes". But instead we have too many Vichy Republicans enabling the jackass who hijacked their campaign. What I can't understand is why???

On standby, they have Pence who:
- Graduated from law school, and practiced law.
- Served 12 years in the House.
- Served 4 years as a governor.

He has the education and experience which Trump is totally lacking, and he leans heavily to the right. He also shows none the the narcissism/sociopathy/dementia of Trump.

All the GOP needs to do to excise their cancer is to bring on the impeachment, and they will have a sane POTUS once again, and have a decent shot at not getting massacred in 2018. So what is stopping them???:S

They are likely afraid that you are wrong about that. I think there will be a near revolution within the party ranks when Trump is finally pushed out the door.

This is nothing particularly new to the Republican party. Take a look back at the 43rd administration. The President was mediocre in education and experience best, yet "likable" to the Republican base, and the VP was considered to be unelectable as President.

So, they run the likable guy, have him take the heat meanwhile there is sort of a better educated/qualified guy sitting at the Naval Observatory getting all sorts of Republican "goodies" done.

Now, I never dreamt of a Cheney Presidency, not at all, but on paper he would have been the better guy except for his obvious unlikability.

Trump does switch this around a little bit, but there is no denying he has a few rabid supporters.

I suspect a few of them may start waking up as we get closer to the midterms. If they don't then I suspect there may be some that get a shock.

Why do you and rush insist on stating 'left-wing hate' at every opportunity?

It's lazy and disingenuous.

There are people in the left wing who hate the government I'm sure, Just as there were people in the right who hated the last one. That doesn't mean that that entire demographic 'hates'.

There are fucking idiots on both sides. Try not to paint everybody with the same brush.

Tell that to all the lefties here! Especially to kallend....

Nothing to admit.

No mistake happened.

Why?

Hillary is not in office and Trump is doing just fine.

Love it.

But in any case, let's get back on topic, which is the shooting.

Nope. But the war that right wing extremists are waging against America is far more deadly than ISIS. (or Bernie supporters.)

Study Says White Extremists Have Killed More Americans in the U.S. Than Jihadists Since 9/11
Joanna Plucinska
Jun 24, 2015
TIME

Since 9/11, white right-wing terrorists have killed almost twice as many Americans in homegrown attacks than radical Islamists have, according to research by the New America Foundation.

In their June study, the foundation decided to examine groups "engaged in violent extremist activity" and found that white extremists were by far the most dangerous. They pointed to the recent Emanuel AME Church shooting in Charleston, S.C., and the 2012 attack on a Sikh temple in Wisconsin, as well as many lesser-known attacks on Jewish institutions and on police. They found that 48 people were killed by white terrorists, while 26 were killed by radical Islamists, since Sept. 11.

Well, duh....of course. Bernie and "The Left" may as well be Islamists with their support of genital "cutting" and wanting to bring terrorists into the country.

Wups, sorry. This is the thread where we don't mumble a bunch of cliched partisan hypocritical bullshit. Maybe the moderators can delete our comments.

Did you include the Pulse nightclub massacre in that total by radical islamists?

Ah, no you didn't. 49 were killed in that attack alone.

Here in the Orlando area it isn't considered an act of radical islam.
Just a guy struggling with homosexual urges and confusion, so more of a hate crime.
The CIA and FBI found no evidence of communications between ISIL and Mateen.

Not to mention, that attack was in 2016. The article quoted was written in 2015.

No, the article was before the Pulse massacre.

The point here is that white wing extremism has been, and is, a big problem in the US - but one that has been completely ignored by the right wing. Even when they kill 48 people, it's brushed under the carpet. Presidential candidates call for "sending people to the hospital" like in the "good old days" and promise to pay for the assaulter's legal fees. Presidential advisors claim that the people who oppose Trump are subhuman. "They're not even people." Hate groups rise. White supremacist groups grow in number and size, fueled by the messages of revenge and anger coming out of the president-elect; his words are used in their promotional material. All this, again, is ignored. (Or in some cases even justified.)

But when one nutcase targets the GOP, and wounds four people, there is sudden outrage, wailing and gnashing of teeth - "now we have a politically motivated shooting on our hands!" They decry "the amount of hate being spewed." They wonder if the next step is all out civil war.

Why did it take an incident like this to wake them up? Were they unaware of the violence advocated by Trump and his supporters? Have they only now seen the rhetoric that's been going on for over a year? Did they not notice all the deadly violence directed towards Muslims and other such groups over the past year? Is it that this is the first time that the violence has not been directed towards the left wing or minorities - and it is suddenly abhorrent?

If this really is an indication that the right wing is waking up to the risks of incendiary rhetoric, exhortations to violence and the systematic dehumanization of a political group - if this really is a "shot heard round the world" for them - then that's one of the few good things that might come from this sad incident.

But it's not.

Read this thread (I know you have). There's no commentary by those on the right about the violence by those on the right.

Only the "hate-filled-liberals."

There was a car attack in London. By a Welshman against a crowd outside a mosque. As an interesting side note, the crowd caught him, pulled him out of his van and attacked him. The iman from the mosque (among others) saved him from the crowd and held him for the police.

Heard any of this from anyone on the right?

Has Trump tweeted about it?

I haven't heard anything. This whole thread is about the 'systematic dehumanizing' and demonizing of the left. And the exhortations about the 'coming civil war' is little more than a call to violence by the right against the left.

I'll say it again (agreeing with you) -- go back and look at interviews of Trump supporters as they waited in line for rallies during the campaign. There were some vicious people there, saying if the election were "rigged" (meaning if Trump lost), we'd see armed uprisings in the U.S. :|
