I've posted it publicly and said it privately that there is nothing to be gained by responding to Marc or Ron. Worse, by doing so, it actually turns the conversation puerile in Marc's case or validates a nonsense world view in Ron's.

It simply does not matter what anyone says to them and, no matter how fervently you may hope it, you are not on the cusp of a breakthrough. If no one responds to them they may not go away but at least the conversation won't immediately go swanchwise or angly-dangly.

Until then, I'm happier on different thread talking about hamsters and toilets.

I don't disagree that Marc and Ron are certainly set in their ways. Given that most of the politically savvy on DZ.com don't seem to want to offer opinions here. Its difficult to debate and make pointed argument with everyone of the same opinion.

Marc, unfortunately, is not blessed with age such that the mistakes of previous administrations, policy, absence of integrity, etc. Of elected officials and parties. Could be put into perspective to guide this thought and political ideology. Such that he could make directed argument of fact. Without regurgitating Hannity's drivel from his Fox stint.

Ron is blessed with experience. Unfortunately, religion and the perceptions that government direction of the economy, is "communist". Clouds and colors his perceptions of how to make America stronger and more supportive of all its citizens.

For Ron the idea that everyone educated, equal, strong and pulling in the same direction. Be it corporate identities, individuals, or industries. Could make America a world leader again. Rather than one in decline and in growing debt and despair.

That divisive political direction will benefit the state. That its the answer and necessary. To hold socialists and the masses of people that only want to use the state to be lazy, a source of welfare. At bay.

Ron is a mystery because he is not stupid. The problem seems to be that he is affected by faith delusion more so than others.

Marc, I'm pretty sure, is no spring chicken. My understanding is that he is a retired project manager from a utility. So while I won't call it a blessing, I do think he's been around a while. Unfortunately, at least so far as I can discern, it's been to no positive effect.

Ron is a deeply caring person on a person level, who has some singular filters for how he views everything. He only acknowledges the religious one, but some social ones seem also to be strong, based on what he writes.

I haven't met him, but do read what he writes.

Marc has made it clear (in direct statements sometimes) that he mostly considers this to be a trolling ground, useful for nothing but his personal entertainment. I generally try not to contribute to that entertainment.

Me, I miss the days when this was a reasonable insight into what a variety of people thought. I disagreed with plenty of them, which is good. One doesn't learn much in an echo chamber.

It's a better format for actual discussion than FB by a long shot, because you can come back to actual discussions, and consider more than one thought at a time. But forums seem to be waning in popularity, replaced by media that lend themselves to inline realtime notifications on the cell phone.

Words matter, some here show nothing but hate for others that aren't white.
A display of hate should be called out.

Personally I tend to use the word hate for the little aggravating things that annoy me, "I hate this cabinet door" "I hate this tool", I've never used the expression that I hate a person. I may dislike some or disagree with them, but they're human.

I don't recall denying any factual evidence, it makes me change my perspective when it's shown to counter what I think.

You should try it, it's eye opening.

Regardless on whether I agree with him, I find Ron's posts valuable in this forum. They provide a perspective that I don't have from faith, age and military service.
Marc's posts are utterly worthless and simply add to the noise in any thread, particularly as he seems to bait Bill in particular. I think he should have been banned a long time ago.

Now that you mention it, and at the risk of my second banning or third (fourth?) warning, I think Bill should choose between being the most prolific poster on SC or the most active moderator. Clearly they are conflicting positions.

Alternatively, the rules against personal attacks could be relaxed and we can just let nature rule.

Alternatively, the rules against personal attacks could be relaxed and we can just let nature rule.

But we need someone who is willing to actually read this forum to be mod. I read it all the time and it's a huge time suck. I can't imagine just reading it without participating. I don't think it's reasonable to ask someone to babysit it without playing in the sandbox as well.

I've lectured at universities. All the students leave decent reviews, so I think I'll be OK.

This post is an example of why I think you should be banned. You don't read and digest posts that other people make but instead go straight to the reply button and then make everything political. My post was personal - a critique of HOW you post, not the views you express.
I don't think you should be banned because of your political views or if I disagree with them. I think you should be banned because your particular style of posting adds nothing to this type of discussion forum except noise, and this post is an example of that.

Because of your posting we are now way of topic, further wasting everyone's time.

Once again I can prove you wrong... just 4 posts up I state categorically that I find value in Ron's posts, despite disagreeing with most of the content. His reasoning was explained in a tweet (of course).
