Trump won because...

Of course if Hillary had won the EC but not the popular vote....

It's highly unlikely the EC /popular vote imbalance would ever favor Democrats. The EC systematically overvalues votes from rural states with low population densities, which also happens to be the demographic that favors Republicans. Kansas voters count more than 3 times as much as the average for the whole country, 3.8 times as much as California voters and 4 times more than Texas voters (link). If you look at this map you'll note that the states colored the darkest green are almost all historically Republican strongholds, although there are a couple of small Democrat strongholds (such as Vermont). Voters in California and Texas are worth the least.

I very much doubt that the founding fathers envisioned the system getting this far away from any reasonable concept of fairness, whatever their reasons were for setting up the electoral college. At the time every state was largely rural, and the population of the whole country was less than 3 million, so the disparities would have been tiny.

The EC was in place the entire time Obama was in power...

I'm sure even you are not so obtuse as to think any President can change the Constitution at will.

"Even you" would be inaccurate; mirage62 tends to take thoughtful views on the conservative side, but by no means hard over.

******Hillary now leads by 1.2 million votes.
:S

And it means exactly nothing.

Well, other than that the President-elect ranted heavily against the scenario that now elected him. Has he changed his position now, or does he still feel changes should be made?

He has to change nothing.
He won.

And he won under the rules both he and Hillary ran under.

Please, catch up.

Yeah, but over 3 million of Hillary's votes were cast illegally by non-citizens. In addition, it is a proud tradition for Democrats to vote early, vote often, and vote long after they are dead.

Trump's voters, OTOH, are all upstanding, law-abiding, God-fearing Citizens who would never stoop to such tactics.

I read it on the internet, so it's the truth.

None of that I was disputing. None of that was part of the question. As usual.

Having read the history books and in light of this election, I don't think the Democrats have been this hoppin mad since the Republicans freed their slaves.;)

Not original. It's been all over Facebook this week.

Never claimed it to be original...but it is applicable...VERY applicable.

And making the other party angry is significantly more important than anything else.

this is probably the most insightful political comment I've read in the last 3 months
